Summary: Amazing sound from such a small and affordable system
Review: I bought this system almost a year ago because I wasn't ready to invest in putting together a "normal" home audio system. Now, I'm not sure that I ever will. This system sounds better than anything I've ever owned. Everything comes out crystal clear, even at higher volumes. No ratty sounding vibrations here. The only thing I would have done differently is offer a real EQ. The pre-sets are ok, but sometimes you just want it the way you want it, instead of the way someone else thinks it should be.

Summary: Micro in Name only
Review: My son chose the UX M3R micro system above anything else because it sounds great, what bemused me was where the model code came from, what does "U" stand for, "Ultra great sound, because its not what I would call an ultra small system, we think "X" is for extra features like RDS which tells you the radio station name or what it delivers like sport or news, and the PRE EQ pre programmed equalizer settings for POP, CLASSIC, JAZZ, etc, now "M" is easy , that's for Micro, and "3" another easy one is for 3 sources of sound: Cassette, Compact Disc and Radio, lastly the "R" we think stands for remote control, which basically means the only thing you need to get out of bed for is to change the CD.

Now for the more serious stuff, a simple design using well tested technology for CD drawer and tape deck, no garish bells and whistles, I mean flashing lights, stylish speaker design made from fibreboard known these days as wood, and the price was right.

Looking for the negatives , I don't like remotes with AAA batteries, what you save in size is nothing , what you loose in battery life and cost of batteries is much greater. The extra PRE EQ feature referred to above substitutes for the old bass and treble which personally I prefer.

In summary , the distinction between a Mini and a Micro is lost on me unless its got something to do with the power of the speakers, the only thing that matters is what it sounds like and this system sounds GREAT. JVC have designed and built a sensible features/well priced bookshelf system perfect in the bedroom or the kitchen, which is probably why a local upmarket hotel put one in every suite.
