Rating: Summary: Surprising sound for the size and price Review: I was looking for a small system for my bedroom. Since my musical tastes run more toward classical than hip-hop, I was skeptical of typical "boom-box" systems. A very positive review in a major consumer-testing publication led me to try this system. I've been extremely pleased with its sound quality. Even demanding recordings like Bach organ music sound wonderful on it. The level of bass is amazing for speakers of this size, and Philip's Woox technology and Incredible sound settings really do improve the enjoyment of the music.

Rating: Summary: volume? Review: I'm enjoying this system immensely. I was struck by the natural wood and metal styling, but the sound is what really makes it a great addition to the office. I'll probably never know how loud it will play with reasonable fidelity, but it does everything I need with style and grace. It's a good value I'll enjoy for many years. Highly recommended.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: It took me a while to decide on what kind of system to buy for my office. I wanted something small, yet powerful. I decided on the Phillips MC-70 after reading several positive reviews. In short, I'm very happy with my purchase, not only does the system provide you with excellent clear sound; rich bass as well as high clear trebles. A bargain for the price range. You can't beat the style. Apart from the ugly speaker grills, I have no complaints. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: walk away from the stereo... Review: Shoddily made. I bought it two years ago, and it already needs to be replaced. It started turning on spontaneously a month after I bought it, and by now the CD changer barely works.
Rating: Summary: volume? Review: This system has good sound, but it is not loud enough. I have it set up in a small bedroom. I want to fear the 10 on the volume dial. The 10 should be uncharted territory. But when I have this system on, I often go to 10 and still crave a little extra. I wish I could get the same quality sound with a little more power.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed... Review: When I received this system I was happy with the interface, sound quality and look of the MC70. Unfortunately, on the second evening of listening to my new stereo, two CD's were placed by accident on the same tray. Instead of rejecting the tray as most sound systems do, the MC70 swallowed both CD's and jammed. After finally finding a repair shop, I found out that not only were the CD's jammed in the machine but that the entire tray had broken and that a new part would have to be ordered (under warranty). I have now been waiting 2 months for this part to be shipped by Phillips and the part has still not arrived (supposedly the part is back-ordered - I suspect because this is a common problem...) As putting 2 CD's in the same tray is a error that occurs to everyone once in a while, I would strongly caution potential purchasers of the MC70 to think carefully about buying this system because of this serious design flaw.
