Rating: Summary: "Showcase" Appropriately Named Review: After a few hours of online research, I had narrowed my choice of cases to the Contour Showcase and the iSkin eVo2 (sonic). Upon a careful in-store inspection of both, I decided to go with the Contour Showcase. While I appreciate the trendinous & quality of the iSkin, I prefer the sophistication and durability of the Contour Showcase. The ease of loading and locking your case was too good to pass up.
It comes with two different sized foam contoured pads to accomodate any 4g ipod. I have a 40gb ipod, which required me to use the thinner pad (I think, 1 millimeter). If you have a 20gb you'd use the thicker pad, if you have the ipod photo, no pad is required. Some may think the pads are inconvenient, but they aren't. It actually gives me a sense of extra protection for my ipod. I'm not a klutz, but the occassional drop does occur.
Pictures don't do this case justice. The protective glass on the front and rear of the case do an excellent job of showcasing your ipod while providing excellent protection. It has a very sleek design, grips well and looks extremely classy. There isn't any click-wheel protection, but from past experience, I never really liked dealing with thin plastic sheets over my wheel.
I find the belt clip to be very functional. Unlike other cases and skins, the Showcase belt-clip doesn't create excessive bulkiness. Contour designers did an excellent job of insuring a stylish & uncumbersome look and feel. It fits easily into pocket with or without the belt-clip. Unless you wear tight pants, you shouldn't have a problem with the clip. And if you do, it's very easy to remove.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my Contour Showcase. If you do decide to purchase it, buy it online. I purchased mine at Fry's Electronic for $29.99 (heat of the moment). It's much cheaper here. Go on and get it, I promise you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Best thing since...the iPod Review: I bought the contour design showcase a few days ago, and it is absolutely amazing. While making your iPod a bit bigger and bulkier, it makes it look twice as cool. Not to mention the fact that it has a belt clip. It offers FULL access to all ports on the iPod without having to move your iPod around, thus covering other ports. It's also super tough, consisting of hard plastic and surrounded by a no-slide rubber grip. This is by far the best accessory i've bought for my iPod thus far!
Rating: Summary: Great product! Keeps your iPod safe. Review: I bought the Countour Showcase 4G case when I bought my iPod. I couldn't even tell you why I picked this one out of the many at my Apple store, but I'm extremely glad that I did. The only thing I do not like about it (I this is more my fault than anyone else's) is that the white version of this product gets DIRTY. There's a version in black that you can order, and this is the one I would suggest buying if you wanted to get one.
The case itself is really easy to open, it fully protects your iPod, and after dropping it very gently a few times, it seems to with hold minimal shock. I'm not going to toss it down hard to figure out what the shock value is of it, but so far, so good.
It does not work with the iPod dock. But it wouldn't look very lovely sitting in the dock while in the case, so I can live with that.
I would suggest that anyone buy this who carries their iPod around with them everywhere. I never worry about it.
Rating: Summary: Good case but easily scratched or cracked. Review: I really like this case. It is well designed with solid rubber around the perimeter and back of the case. The rubber clearly was made to provide shock-absorbing impact protection to the iPod. The front of the case is made out of relatively thick clear plastic and has a cutout for the click wheel. There is a detachable belt clip on the back that holds the iPod horizontally on your belt. I thought I had finally found the perfect case. However, with my first day of use I was disappointed to discover that the front clear plastic part can be easily scratched or cracked. When I went past a bookcase, I accidently bumped the case against the bookcase. It seemed like nothing serious until I removed the iPod from my belt. The plastic front of the case had a deep crack in it. It is still usable but not very attractive anymore. Too bad, this case really had promise. If only the front plastic had a little more give to it.
Rating: Summary: Security and Asthetics Review: My Ipod is just over a week old and it already has some wear showing (very minor scratches to the casing, back has fingerprints, etc.
I quickly realized that I would need a case to protect my investment. I searced a ton of user websites and noticed that a lot of holders would fully protect your ipod, but hide the controls or protect the casing but leave the controls vulnerable.
The Contour Showcase does a great job of totally encasing the ipod while leaving the click wheel of my 4G Ipod accessable. (I am ordering a protective slip seperately to cover the click wheel).
This case provides me with the proctection I was looking for as well as a access to all controls from within the case. Amazon's price was also the lowest I could find. Also of note, the case also comes with a belt clip, but on intital inspection, it appears very easy to detach so I am going to test it thouroughly before using it. However, it is a nice feature that was ommitted from the product description.
Rating: Summary: Functional, Beautiful, Perfect... Review: The Contour Design Showcase 4g iPod case is a very high quality product. I had no idea how easy it would be to open and close the case to remove the iPod. What a great feature. The case shows off my 40gig very nicely, and securly fastens it to my belt. I did a lot of research before purchasing this case- it was the most highly reccomended for functionality and protection. I do not regret my decision one bit, this is a must have ipod accessory.
Rating: Summary: Get the black case instead Review: While I agree with other reviewers that this case is ultra-cool, I have a suggestion for anyone considering buying it: Get the black case, not the white. After only a few days, the edges of my white case were filthy. Even if I regularly clean it with soap and water (which is a drag), the rubber is starting to yellow--as white plastics are apt to do. Otherwise, this product is well-designed, highly functional and totally recommended.
