Summary: Palm case is CLUMSY
Review: DON'T BUY THIS

I hate this case. I had a hard case for my Palm Vx and this one is a big step backwards.

The case is too large - it unnecessarily thick - and much larger than I expected.

It is really difficult to turn on the palm and get at the stylus by simply opening the lid. I have to not only open the lid - I have to also swing the back of the case away from the PDA.

This case was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.

Summary: Fragile clasp
Review: Everything about this case is great except for one thing. After two months of use, the clasp that holds it shut broke apart from both sides. The case is still usable, but I just have to be even more carful now.

Summary: major disappointment
Review: everything associated with this case sucks. wish this was like the hard case for my old palm V

its a pain to turn on the palm while its in the case. you have to use two hands to do anything - turn it on, use the stylus, etc. the hinge (which was designed for flexibility) is so loose that handling the case is like negotiating a wet magazine. the case is really bulky and is most certainly not aluminum (try cheap plastic). the palm rattles around inside the case. there is a latch that (again) requires two hands to open and is much more secure than necessary. a simple springloaded hinge would have been perfect.

anyone want to go into business desiging a new one?

Summary: REALIZE YOUR NEEDS BEFORE YOU BUY!
Review: From reading the other reviews on this product, it seems that some poeple were expecting one thing and recieved another. To that end I hope i can clarify a bit.

What it does:
*Protects your Palm Tungsten E
*Looks good. Sleek brushed aluminum with black plastic trim (not all plastic as has been mentioned)
*Holds 2 expansion cards

What it does not:
*Provide quick access to stylus, power button, expansion slot, or hotsync, power, headphone jacks
*Provide storage for anything other than Tungsten E or 2 expansion cards

This case is for PROTECTION of the Palm Tungsten E. It is a hard shell. Period. People argue about whether it is plastic or aluminum, it is aluminum outside with a plastic interior. With the case closed, there is no access to any part of the Tungsten.

If you are a person who like to flip out the Palm for a quick second and stow it away again, or needs a case to be able to carry things other than your Palm, or if size is an issue then this is not the case for you. You would be better served with one of the leather cases with minimal padding, but with holes to access things like stylus, expansion slots, or power button. Just realize that those cases are not as durable.

I use this case because i am very clumsy with small objects like PDAs and needed the extra protection to keep my shiny new Tungsten free from dents and scratches which the included flip cover could not provide. I accepted that it is significantly thicker (about a half inch thick instead of a quarter inch) and that access to certain items was not immediate.

I have never had a problem opening the case, but it is secure in that it won't open accidentily. It clicks open with a slight push on the arrow on the lower half of the shell. Some have said you can open with one hand... I tried, and while it is possible, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're trying to impress friends. I always use 2 hnads (one to hold, the other to open) and it never occured that it was an issue until reading some of the posts here.

I use one of those combo stylus/pens and so i never have to get the stylus out of the case. it also gives me a nicer writing instrument.

I do take it out of the case when charging and syncing. It seems to me that the weight of the Tungsten is propped on the jacks if you leave it in the case. Since the Tungsten is light, it is probably not an issue, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I usually take it out at night when i get home, and place it back again when i walk out the door in the morning. Once again, it didn't occur to me that this might be an issue until readin some of the posts here.

I also don't listen to MP3s using this so not being able to access the expansion port while the case is closed isn't an issue for me.

Long story short... if you want protection for your Tungsten, then this is for you, otherwise get a leather case that has more convenience features

Summary: Tungsten E hard case, OK ,but not what it could be
Review: Got the case even after the other reviews about access to sync cable, exp card, and on-off switch. These are easy to work around. The two concerns I had are.
1) Loose fit, PDA can bounce around inside of case. Added foam tape, along top and bottom, inside cover to give it slightly snug fit.
2) My hinge pin broke, and it's only 1-1/2 weeks old.

Summary: Mixed Review
Review: Greetings..

Been a user of PDA's for awhile.. and I think the E is a great device. I am a landscaper, so I need a good case for my palms.. But I am also always very aware of where the palm is when I am working. I keep it in my back pocket so it pretty much stays outta harms way. So i bought the hardcase to keep it safe BUT

The SD hard holders left scratch marks on my writerite screen protector, which leads me to beleive that if you take a hard hit with this case, it would break your screen.... sooo i'm sticking with the flip cover that comes with my device.. I figure I don't care about scratches at all.. only the screen.. sooo thats my two cents

Summary: Yes, but...
Review: I agree with some of the gripes other reviewers have about this case - but I've dropeed my Palm three times so far (yes, careless me)- twice on a tile floor and once out in the parking lot - and the case did a good job of protecting my Palm.

Summary: This item killed my Palm!
Review: I attribute the loose fit of the Palm in the case to a major malfunction of my Palm (including the erase of all my data and inability to synch properly). Certainly flops around in case. The only foam that came with the case was meant for stabalizing it in the packaging. Construction: aluminum and plastic. Design inconvenient for accessing pen and charging and synching cable inputs.

Thanks to Amazon.com for making returns so easy!

Summary: It Does It's Job
Review: I bought this as protection for my Palm Tungsten E. As advertised, it's an aluminum case that protects your Palm from abuse. Opening and closing it is easy, as is removing the Palm. One major problem is that you have to lift the Palm out of it somewhat to get to the stylus and power button and Hotsync and Power jacks. My biggest complaint is that something in it's closing mechanism chipped, so although I can close it, it's easier to open than it should be. This little gadget does it's job and nothing more.

Summary: Sleek look, but doesn't live up to rep
Review: I bought this case because I needed something sturdy to protect my Palm inside my purse. It's sturdy and sleek, a little bigger than other cases, but I was willing to make that trade for protection. But after just four months, the clasp broke and now the case pops open inside my purse, subjecting my Palm to the ravages of keys, combs and various whatnot. This is not good. I am extremely disappointed. I used a leather case on my last Palm and, although it got beat up, it never broke! Depending on your needs it may be best to stick with a tried and true solution - leather.
