Rating: Summary: Needs a strap Review: My Coolpix 995 fits snuggly inside this case. I had trouble finding an appropriate case for the camera and tried several before settling upon this one. The unique shape of the camera makes it both compact, but thick. My local camera stores didn't have this bag, and the bags they offered were either unnecessarily large, or too thin. As other reviewers have mentioned, it has no shoulder strap. It has an inconvenient belt attachment, but only those without any sense of style would consider using this. When the camera is in the bag, the strap from the camera can be used as the strap for the bag. However, when you take the camera out, you now are faced with the dilemma of what to do with the bag. The camera requires both hands, so you either have to let the bag fall, pass it to someone else, or awkwardly try to hold it. None are good options. Actually, my bag protects my camera during transport, but when I expect to use the camera, I leave the bag behind. All in all, this is a very acceptable product from Nikon, which could be improved by the addition of a strap.
Rating: Summary: A Good Case for Camera Cases Review: OK, I got one of these and like many others have already said, it has the advantage of having been engineered to carry the camera, but not much else. I, myself, carry lots of batteries and the thing has nowhere to stuff them all. After running through a Sears, Best Buy and a camera shop stuffing the 990 into various cases to see what fits best, I settled on a case logic CD player carrying bag. It has 3 zip pockets in it as well as a shoulder strap, belt loop and a snap loo that can be used to hang a light accessory bag off ot it. The bag is just big enough to fit the 990 into the mid pocket while leaving room in the back pocket for batteries and accessories. The small front pocket is just the right size to carry the trial size CF card that comes with the camera. Over all, I am very happy with the case. It is water resistant so I don't fear being caught in the rain with it an is just so versatile. If you can find this thing its great. Shouldn't be hard Case logic has their products everywhere. It is a CD player travel bag and square shaped and comes in red, blue, yellow and maybe another color or two (I only saw the three colors I mentioned but there are probably more) If you can, get one of these. Its just right and now I am rambling so that's all for this review.

Rating: Summary: Just right Review: One of the reasons I like my Nikon 990 is its relatively compact size. When I bought it, however, I did not get a case for it, which was not a good idea. I could carry the camera in one of the larger camera bags I already had. This posed the problem of possibly scratching or damaging the LCD on the back of the camera since the camera was somewhat loose in the camera bag with other metal accessories in it. The lens cover could also get knocked off in my larger bag since the camera could shift around in it. I quickly purchased this case and have been well pleased with it ever since then. The camera fits snugly inside so there is no worry about damaging the display or the lens. There is also a small, although sufficient, pouch to place extra batteries, extra memory cards, or even an additional lens in. Plus the whole package is small enough to fit in my briefcase or a larger camera bag. It's just right for what I need.
Rating: Summary: Beware of Belt Loop Review: The belt loop failed after only three months use. Luckly I caught the case before it hit the ground.
Rating: Summary: Pleasantly Surprised! Review: When I purchased a new Coolpix 990, I knew beforehand that it would not include a carrying case. The cheap case that had been included with the 950 served my needs well, so I bought this case for the 990, expecting it to be similar. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. This case is both larger and better built than the case included with the 950. The fabric is heftier and has a slightly rubberized feel on the outside that makes it seem much more substantial. The case includes a small pocket under the flap on the front that's perfect for an extra set of batteries or a few spare compact flash cards. Unlike the velcro closure on the 950 case, this one has a short adjustable strap with a plastic snap-lock closure. This makes it a bit more secure, though accessing the camera will be a bit slower if you're in a rush. This case should also work well for the 950. Overall, very nice.
Rating: Summary: Rubber belt loop is weak Review: While retrieving the camera from the case, I noticed the upper portion of the belt loop had split and was hanging by a mere thread of rubber. I was fortunate. After removing the camera from the case, one slight tug broke the belt loop. I've been using this case for approximately nine months with a Nikon Coolpix 990. Suggest you look at a Tamrac #5694 for cameras of this size.
