Rating: Summary: Why is there no '0' star rating?? Review: These discs are the worst I have ever tried (and, I've tried quite a few over the years). I've always used Memorex for the name/quality, and I've always had good results. This was either a bad batch of discs or they have started purchasing inferior discs and rebranding them with the Memorex name.
I bought the 100 disc spindle back in November, burned 40 discs and have 40 bad discs! Unfortunately, the discs don't fail during the burn...they just can't be totally read after the burn. Movies, data, everything has errors that show upon playback/read. Movies freeze/corrupt on DVD players and even on the burner that burned them. I got data CRC errors over files spread across the entire disc (CDCHECK won't even complete a test of any of the data discs). 60 remaining discs went straight into the trash.
During the same burn period, I continued to use my Memorex 8X NON-printable DVD+R's and every one of them burned/played successfully.
Stay away from the Memorex printable 4X DVD+R's until they stop farming them out to inferior disc manufacturers!
Rating: Summary: Writes at 8X with NO PROBLEMS... Review: These disks are GREAT at under a buck each you cant go wrong!! I currently burn at 8X with these disks and have had no problems. Great Value and Great Quality! :)
Rating: Summary: Won't work for me. Review: These won't work in my Panasonic. The CD-RWs refused to work in either of our Dell Laptops. Shouldn't they say on the label what products they work in? I bought Memorex frequently for cassette and VHS tapes, but I'll never buy another Memorex product again. Too unreliable.
Rating: Summary: tom Review: this is a bad product, i got two hundred disc and all are useless.
they are made by cmc but the ad does not tell you that. the disc did not work in nec 3500, hp300n, or liteon dvdrw. i had to throw all disc in trash. i got in contact with memorex and they emailed me a link to the product replacement department. i filled out all the information and never got a response.
Rating: Summary: I have had good results so far. Review: When I first purchased a DVD writer, I bought whatever I could afford in the way of media. My first drive was an NEC 2.4X. I graduated to a KyperMedia 8X (Made by Cyberdrive). I purchased 50 Phillips brand disks and ended up making 5 or 6 coasters. It may have been because of something in my computer that caused the problems. But whatever the reason, I have been buying and burning Memorex 4X DVDs since then with outstanding results. The only coasters that I made with Memorex were because my recorder defaulted to maximum speed (8X). If that means these disks are 8X capable, something is amiss because the three times that I did not notice this, I came away with coasters. As far as recording movies, I record at 2.4X no matter what speed the recorder or disk is. It has been my experience that the slower you record, the better the disk. That goes for music CDs also. So, to wrap it up, I have now used around 250 of the Memorex brand DVD-Rs (4X) and have only made three coasters (my fault). I don't know about any DVD rot. I sure hope that it does not occur with my disks as I have many that can not be replaced. If anyone can figure out how to tell who the manufacturer is, please let us know. Please forgive any typos. :-)
Rating: Summary: Be wary of these discs Review: While I'll admit that the price is right: $100 for 100 discs and that the printable surface is superb using an Epson R300 direct to cd/dvd printer... I've had many failures burning a full DVD with this particular brand. My other burns that only make use of 25 to 50% of the disc were great, no problems. It's just when I burn a DVD that has about 4.36 gigs on it that problems arise, with skipping, stuttering and sometimes complete failure to recognize the dvd from both my computer dvd drive and my set-top dvd player. In short, I can only recommend this brand if you plan on not using the outer tracks of the disc because I surmise the dye on the outer portions of the disc media is not consistent and will lead to burn and/or read failures. I recommend TDK brands at this time over Memorex brands.
Rating: Summary: Memorex DVD+R 4x Review: Works without problems using NEC 1100A drive.
Rating: Summary: Good as they get Review: You can't buy a better DVD+R and the price is cheaper than most other off brands. I have never lost a DVD due to faulty burning.
Rating: Summary: GARBAGE Review: [...] The DVD's sent out are generic, garbage DVD's. Seller advertises them as Memorex and sends out cheap generics which don't even work in DVD players. I have reported this seller to the FCC and you should too! Do not waste your money. Huge scam!
