Rating: Summary: Works fine with Sony External DVD Burner Review: Bought these DVDs expecting to see some coasters, based on their price. All DVDs in the box worked fine, no coasters at all. I use the Sony External 8x DVD Burner that has an USB interface. Highly recommended. The trick to burning DVDs is to not do anything else on the computer while the dvd burning is going on. I used to get quite a few coasters, when I used to multiplex on computer.
Rating: Summary: great dvd+r Review: I have backed up about 50 movies of my collection with ridata dvd+r 8x dvd's and have'nt experienced any problems. As for the write speed i have seen any difference between the ritek dvd+r and any other brand i have tried, the burn time difference comes into play when burning a movie that needs to be heavily compressed. You will not find a deal like this anywhere else (70cents per disk for a 50pack), (i searched high and low on all the major deal sites, check ebay if you don't believe it) so jump in you won't regret it!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good quality, low price! Review: I have backed up about five discs so far with these DVD+R's, while using a Sony DRU530A 8x burner. Worked perfectly fine for me, and for the price, I'm never going back to a "name-brand" again :)
Rating: Summary: Good but only 4x on HP dvd 420i Review: I have burned about 50 of these with no problems at all, but my HP drive only writes to them at 4x using DVD Shrink 3.1. The drive writes to HP 8x DVD+R media at 8x using the same program (gee, what a surprise). If you're an HP user and speed is not a concern, these are fine discs and the price is right.
Rating: Summary: Nothing but Ritek for Me Review: I've tried several other "Name Brand" and generic media and never got above a 70% success rate for burns. Sure everything looks fine at first, but then you take one of your backed up movies to a friends house and it freezes up at the last 15 min of a great movie. With Ritek it's at least 95% success. I'll never waste my money on lesser media. There do seem to be some speed issues but I've yet to find an optical drive that works PERFECTLY, and I've been through about 20 of them over the years.
Rating: Summary: BEWARE: Pioneer 8X drive writes these at 4X Review: In addition to the user's review below with a NEC drive, Pioneer is in the same boat...
According to Ritek's site, they are working on getting a full 8X out of Pioneer's DVR-107D and DVR-A07XLA, but they are not there yet. I'm disappointed because I didn't consult their site before buying them and expecting to write at 8X with my Pioneer drive.
One would easily assume that a DVD writer, with a big fat 8X on the box (running the latest firmware and software), and media with that same fat 8X on the wrapper would be able to write at 8X, but guess what? Not true!
Rating: Summary: Poor compatibility, don't waste your money. Review: Since the price is higher than the average for most DVD+Rs, I bought this item expecting to have better than average compatibility. This was not the case. Even burning at a 2X speed, I was only able to get the discs to play on two out of four players, and one out of three DVD-ROM drives. I see all these 4-5 star reviews, so maybe mine were part of a bad batch, but for now, don't waste your money on Ritek.
Rating: Summary: GREAT discs but you may need a firmware update Review: These discs are great! At first, my NEC 2500a would only recognize these discs as 4X, but I upgraded my firmware to Herrie's v1.07 firmware and the discs burn fine at 8X now. SO before you bash on the media, check to see if you have the latest firmware and that your burner supports the full potential of these discs.
Rating: Summary: Not 8x on NEC 2100AD Review: These will burn at only 4X on an NEC 2100AD with the latest firmware installed in a Dell 8300. However, you can't beat the price.
