Rating: Summary: I love this thing! Review: It is really convenient to use and carry, not to mention very cute!!
Rating: Summary: Not What I Hoped Review: I had trouble with this drive. My son has a couple USB flash drives, and he just plugs them in and they work (PC and MAC!). An additional drive shows up on the computer, and you transfer files just like to or from a hard drive. But, my Lexar Media 128 MB JumpDrive didn't work that way. It would, in some cases, lock up my windows session requiring a reboot. This is with relatively new machines running Windows XP. Maybe I could format it or add software as others suggested, but why do so when other USB flash drives just work without all that. It got two stars because I was able to transfer data intermittently, and it was cheapest per MB that I found. Maybe with patience I could have figured it out. I did return it for a full refund.
Rating: Summary: Good stuff Review: Looks nice, compatible with my desktop without any problems. It is also fast to transfer data.
Rating: Summary: Washing Machine Safe... Review: Well I'm usually not one to write reviews but this one just suprised me so now I feel like its my duty. I've owned the 128mb lexar drive for about 2 months now and let me just say its fantastic. I'm a college student CS major so I know a bit about how these things work. But I can store all my CS assignments and english reports all on one drive. Can even load my chat and messaging clients right onto the drive so when I get in the lab I don't have to download them. But the shocker was when I left it in my pants pocket and it got thrown in with the laundry and washed and taken through the dryer. Well after almost giving up hope on it I plugged it in a few days later and to my suprise it still worked!!! Some of the writing on it was rubbed off from the chemicals but it was physically intacted and all my data was still good... So... Highly recommend. Can't say much as far as comparison with other drives but this one has worked great for me...
Rating: Summary: Works As Advertised Review: This is a handy device for any computer owner who has to transfer data for self or others. It works as advertised on XP machines and the light showing access is a nice touch. It is especially important now that so many computers and mini-notebooks come without floppy drives.
Rating: Summary: Works as Advertised Review: This drive works flawlessly with Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Windows 98SE set-up is more of a hassle, due to the operating system requiring a new driver, not because of the drive itself. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: works fine, note on filesystems Review: This flash drive works just fine. After all, it is not rocket science, so either it works or it doesn't. A note about filesystems. When I got this flash drive directly from Amazon in January 2004 it was formatted out-of-the-box in the "FAT" filesystem (this according to Windows XP). It was not FAT32 because after I reformatted the drive in Windows Explorer Windows XP said the drive was now "FAT32". The original FAT (FAT16) filesystem may explain why long filenames could not be saved for a previous reviewer. Regardless, the original FAT filesystem (FAT16) is a decade old and should not be used. To use FAT32, right-click the drive and choose format, then follow the instructions. (Note: All existing data on the drive will be erased.) To use the newer NTFS (New Technology File System), go to the command line (Start | Run | cmd <Enter>) and type convert e: /fs:ntfs <Enter> substituting the drive letter. To summarize, the flash drive came with the original FAT filesystem, which no one should be using nowadays. Either reformat it to FAT32 or convert it to NTFS. Under FAT32 or NTFS, there is no reason whatsoever the drive cannot store long filenames, and anyone at Lexar who said otherwise doesn't know what he was talking about.
Rating: Summary: Lexar Drive works but has lousy documentation Review: The documentation with this Lexar Drive is so skimpy it fails to mention that many users will need to format the drive before using it. The drive corrupted many files of mine over a two-week period until I formatted it, only resorting to that when a friend who owns one of these types of drives suggested that I do so before returning the unit to Amazon. After it was formattted it worked reasonably well. I say only reasonably well because it still behaves erratically on mount and dismount. Nice price, but in terms of support you get what you pay for.
Rating: Summary: Excellent product Review: No problems whatsoever. No setup required. Nice color (for those who like purple)as well. Overall, very satisfied.
Rating: Summary: not really great drive Review: i had some problem configuring this unit in win 98se. thanks to the customor representative, i could finally make this unit work in win 98se after several hour hassle. the unit does not work w/ simple drive installation. i had to configure manually/ i could understand this problem because this is partly MS fault, but what makes me scary happened during data transfer. i tried to move several MP3 files from one computer to the another, but every files were messed up during the data transfer. after that accident, i have to check whenever i move the file using Lexar. oh yeah.. it is not durable either as many folks pointed out.
