Summary: Small, simple flash drive.
Review: I love this device. I use it to move files between work and home. I used to use CD-RW and this is so much better, faster, and more convenient to carry. I access it on W98, XP, and 2000 across dozens of PCs.This Lexar product is shorter than many of the competiting products. That's good for me. Some of the PCs I access have limited clearance next to the USB port and this one fits in nicely. The finish is very smooth and its nice that way. I was concerned the bright purple is not the most "professional" looking (which is true) but I also like it because it really sticks out visually against muted colors (grays and blues) at work. I can spot it easily wherever I've placed it. I wish it was available in other colors as options--bright green, yellow, orange, etc. For the key "loop" position, there are two USB drive designs. This one has the loop on the drive, others have it on the cap. The cap on this product is just a squeeze fit, it doesn't "click" on so its good that it is not on the cap. However, I dislike dragging out my keys to access the drive so I don't even put it on my keychain--I don't want my keys dangling next to the PC. A competing design with the loop on the cap would be preferable to me if the cap was securely connected to the drive. The drawback of that type of design is that if it detaches and gets lost you are left only with the cap, not the drive. Still, right now I just keep the thing in my pocket most of the time. It's so small, I hardly notice it and its just fine that way. On this drive, you can insert the cap perpendicularly into the slot on the end of the drive to help keep from losing the cap. This product does not have any write protect switch, special password security, or anything fancy. I like its simplicity that way and its priced a bit less than others too. Its just a lovely simple device for moving files around and it works great. If you think you might be able to use such a thing, go ahead and get it. I'm still waiting for my rebate.

Summary: The 'Super Floppy'
Review: The Iomega drive used expensive media and many computer's didn't have one. The LS120 format never caught on. CD-R & CD-RW can be a pain when you're only recording small programs. Also, CD's are larger and normally require that you carry them around in their own protective case. These are some of the reason's why the Floppy Disk has hung around soooo long. So what's the product that may finally supplant the venerable Floppy Disk (Dell has already made floppies an option on many of their computers)? I think that you're looking at it. I own this Lexar 128 JumpDrive and think it's performance/price ratio is awesome. Almost every modern computer has a USB input, so this solves the format/compatibility problem. The size is extremely small and durable, which makes product excellent for transporting. USB 1 is good for about 10MBPS, so you can fill up all 122.5MB of this drive in a couple minutes (yeah, it's not quite 128MB as you'd be lead to believe). Finally the software/drivers (5MB download if you have Win 98) work like a charm. This is an excellent product solution and if you are looking for any negatives, these are the only items I would consider worth pointing out: drive is not quite 128MB, some larger EXE files are larger than 122.5MB and therefore will not fit on this drive, and finally, although unit is very compact, the dimensional width of the JumpDrive may suck up 2 USB ports in horizontal USB configurations (e.g. - your notebook).

Summary: Not bad for the price
Review: Very nice product, works great in all my machines (I'm running XP on multiple machines made by myself, Dell and Micron). They automatically detect it specifically as a Lexar drive too. The only complaint I have about the product is that the plastic definitely does feel cheap and brittle. I'm sure it would shatter if dropped onto something hard, accidentally stepped on, etc... Also, I purchased this product using the free super shipping, and the tracking was less than satisfactory. It still showed as being "at a shipping partner" in Romulus, MI as it was in my local mail van on the way over. This was using USPS. My advice would be to spend the extra three dollars and get 2nd day shipping.

Summary: Lexar Jump Drive
Review: This drive is excellent. Information is easily saved on it, and easily opened. Trasnfers data easily from Mac to Windows, definatly a plus. The drive can be transported anywhere, its so small and lightweight. It easily attaches to a keychain. Another nice feature is that there is a clip so you can clip it on to a belt, pocket, purse, etc. The cap that protects the USB port does not come off easily, as some on other flash drives do. The only con to this product is that it does not come with any directions. But, it is easy to figure out, just save as you normally would under the pull- down menu. Overall, this is a great product for the price.

Summary: Best portable storage yet
Review: Floppies became outmoded when individual files started to exceed 1 MB in size. With digital cameras producing images that can require 2 MB or more, space and speed become even more important in portable storage devices. I have a Zip 250 and it's fine for archiving, but since I don't have a Zip drive on my PC at work, I had to resort to emailing my files between home and work. The advent of reasonably priced USB "key chain" storage devices like this Lexar Jump Drive has changed all that. I paid ... for my Lexar 128MB Jump Drive and there was a rebate coupon, too (I'm hoping Lexar honors it, since some buyers have complained of difficulties in getting their rebate). The product is very small, nicely designed, and best of all, FAST. I can copy 20 2MB digital photos very quickly (much faster than copying them to a CD or a Zip disk). The Jump Drive shows up as a hard drive almost immediately after you insert it into a USB slot. Be warned that its width precludes it from being directly next to another USB cable in a multi-port hub. I have to unplug my USB scanner when I want to use the Jump Drive, but I've ordered a USB extension from Amazon that should solve that problem and also make it easier to plug and unplug the Jump Drive. You treat it exactly as you would any other disk drive connected to your PC, except that it's a lot faster. It is true as others have noted here that the actual storage space on the 128 MB Jump Drive is more like 120 MB, but so what? You're carrying the equivalent of over 100 floppies in your pocket, and it's so small that you have to be careful to not haul it out every time you reach for change. Build quality seems good to me, though I agree with the reviewers who have said they wouldn't attach it to their key-ring (the plastic case doesn't seem quite THAT strong. I'm delighted with my Jump Drive and I'll be watching as the prices drop to get a 256 MB model. I'm totally satisfied with the Jump Drive, which has already saved me a lot of time and effort. Great product!

Summary: Very unreliable product...be warned.
Review: I purchased two of these drives...one for my business and one for my daughter's college work. One had to be returned immediately as it would cause the blue screen of death whenever it was removed from the computer. There is little documentation for the device, both with the package and at the Lexar site, (one of the most laughably sparse FAQ's I have seen) which leads to some misunderstandings: The data light which is used to tell when it is safe to remove the drive does not illuminate on Windows 98, only on XP. This is not mentioned in the manual. I was told by Lexar that this is normal...it just is not mentioned in the manual. As others have posted, I have found the device can become unreliable after a short time.
1. Occassional blue screens when the drive is removed. When deleting very large files, the blue screen is almost assured.
2. Within the first month, I put in the drive to find all the imformation on it mysteriously gone and unrecoverable by me. I foolishly trusted the drive to hold the only files I had long enough to get it to another computer. I know I should have made a backup, but it still should not have happened. 3. Soon afterward, I found that the I could not rename files in the window...they would show only the name given when they were created. This was true on whichever computer I used the device in. 4. Soon after that, I could not drag files to the window either. I could only alter files that were already on the drive (but not rename them.) 5. I use the briefcase function to transfer files between computers so I should have backups on both my home and office computers. One evening I found that one important file containing several thousands of dollars of transaction records for customer orders had mysteriously (again) disapeared from the jumpdrive as the briefcase files updated, therfore erasing the copy stored on the computer, too. As of this writing, I have not been able to uncover the files which may result in many hours of record rebuilding and possible financial losses. I cannot recommend this device as a reliable method of either transferring or storing data. I have transferred files between computers using floppys for six years now without these problems, so I have to assume the jumpdrives are at fault. There are no other problems with the three other computers they were used on. Lexar has a help chat, but it is slow and not very helpful. I used it a couple of times but the person at the other end was unable to solve the problem. Both times, I got the same person which leads me to believe they don't have a big help staff. The long delay between questions and answers led me to think that he was handeling a lot of peolpe at the same time, too. If you have the time to wait a day or two between responses, the email help is better. Lexar did offer to try to extract the files the first time they went missing, but as of this time, even if they could I no longer trust the devices. I am writing Lexar to see if I can return them for a refund. I bought the drive from Amazon, who is not at fault here. They promptly replaced the original defective drive. Lexar is now going to have to take the hit for the quality of their products because of the time that has passed between the purchase and the time the drive started to fail. We'll see what happens.

Summary: No More Floppies!
Review: Insanely useful device! It's extremely small and portable, and holds 128MB of stuff! No more using floppy disks (thank goodness, cause my new computer doesn't even have a floppy drive!) or e-mail to transfer files. I use it a lot when I am travelling and want to take some files with me from my PC to access on my laptop. It's also incredibly easy to use. All you do is plug it in to a USB port, your computer will automatically recognize what it is .. so you just go to "My Computer" and it should be right there! It will show up something like "Lexar Media" and then the drive letter. Then you can just copy files to it, or drag and drop files in to it. Super easy! It has the ability to be hooked on to a keychain if you want, I personally don't since my keychain is already stuffed enough - but the option is there! I plan on getting these for a lot of friends and relatives for Christmas - they make great stocking stuffers! My only issue is that it only comes in bright purple. Personally, I don't care a lot for the color purple .. some other color choices would be nice! Overall - great product. I highly recommend!

Summary: Great Concept, Spotty Performance; Win98 and XP
Review: You'll see "works every time" reviews and "this is junk" type reviews here. My experience with this device falls in between. Read details about drivers, speed, recognizability, errors and crashing. Keep in mind that I've only been using this jumpdrive for a few months, so it should not be worn out. I've never dropped it.
- I've been using the jumpdrive to transfer files from a Win98 box to a WinXP machine. The drive works very quickly with Win98, for which I had to download and install a small driver. - The WinXP needs no driver: you just plug in the jumpdrive and go. However, the same data that took ten seconds to copy from Win98 now took *minutes* to transfer from the jumpdrive to WinXP. (The Win98 machine is 5 yrs old; the WinxXP machine is 1 month old!) - If you buy this drive and it ends up being really slow on your xp box too, here's one thing you can do: Instead of deleting from the jumpdrive, you can format it to quickly delete everything. See Alan Tu's customer review here at Amazon.com for info about formatting. - Recognizability: sometimes I have to plug it into the WinXP box, unplug it, and plug it in again before it is recognized. I never had to do that in Win98. - Errors: with both machines, I have had an error occur during copying files either to or from the jumpdrive. I'm not sure if I lost files or not -- I didn't worry about that because I don't delete anything until it's successfully copied onto a disc -- but this error did force me to restart the transfer process. That made me nervous.
-- sometimes the error was simply a freeze-up of the screen and the copy process.
-- once, two of the files I copied came out all corrupted and mutated, and could not be read. (In subsequent attempts, they were copied just fine, though). - Crashing: This reviewer has never seen the blue screen of death from unplugging the jumpdrive. In Win98, I did get a freeze-up during copying that forced me to restore my active desktop, but I can't necessarily blame that on the jumpdrive. Summary: it's relatively cheap, but you get what you pay for. Use with caution - don't delete something from machine1 until you have copied to machine2. (...)

Summary: Great deal
Review: Very useful and well-designed. Ideal for transferring information between computers which I do frequently between home-work-laptop. Can store movie files for presentations with no slowdown during presentations. The USB 1.0 is a good idea if you want to transfer data betwen computers that are new or perhaps a few years old and cannot accept a USB 2.0. The 128 MB is more than enough memory for most applications. Well worth the price.

Summary: It stoped working at the third week
Review: I putted it in my pencil box all the time to avoid the damage from the impact with hard project(even I know it didnt make by TOFU), it seems worked fine for the first 2 weeks and 6 days, as soon as I stop backing up the file on the drive, it stop working without any indication, LED not flashing, it couldnt be recogenized at different PCs. it is all I can say
