Rating: Summary: 128x2 "Select" only choice older products Review: A stick with a selector switch is as good as it gets for my 4Mpix Sony P9 camera. Like any slot without the word "Pro" written next to it, a 256 or larger stick (the white "MagicGate" aka "MemStick Pro") gets only an error message. Ditto for Sony P7, P5, P3, P2, P1, P50/51/52, P72 camera owners and older card readers, a 256 size fails if it does not have the selector switch.
Rating: Summary: Do not buy Review: After using this memory stick in my SONY DSC-V1 for a few months, it just stopped working. I took pictures with it and then transferred them into my SONY VAIO. The memory stick was sitting in my computer's slot for a few days, and when I put it in my camera to take pictures, my camera lcd screen blinked "format error." I tried formatting it with my computer, but my computer told me the disc was write protected, which it wasn't. It would not format in my camera either. I was only able to use one half of the stick. A few pictures later, both halves of the stick were not working. My camera shows each side as having a "format error," or a "system error."
Rating: Summary: Great value, good functionality Review: As correctly described in another review, this is 2x128M (together 256Mb) memory stick. You have a little jumper on the back to switch between the banks.
For reference, there is no such thing as 256 Mb memory stick, that's a limitation of memory stick technology. To overcome this limitation, Sony came up with the Memory Stick Pro standard, which can be 256 Mb, 512 Mb, and even 1Gb+, but Memory Stick Pro is not compatible with many older devices.
So if you camera takes Memory Stick, this is an absolutely best value you can find. I have 256 Mb memory stick from Lexar and very happy about it -- actually I came here to buy another one.
Rating: Summary: Good and cheap for a memory stick Review: As with all Sony products, memory sticks are more expensive than they should be. Lexar does a good job of getting the price at par with other media like CF and xD cards. Its transparent body is nice looking, but useless because you can either look at it or use it. The green led looks nice when its being read on my Clie... except that also has no real use either because there's already a red led on my Clie next to the slot which glows when it reads the media. The alternating red and green looks cool though. This is a 128x2 MB stick. So you will either love or hate that you have to flick a switch. This also means that the 2 modules are a little less than 128MB, so overall, you would get more storage if you took a Sony or Sandisk 256MB memory stick. The switching becomes a pain when you are shooting MPEG movies with your CyberShot camera. That apart, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't buy it.
Rating: Summary: How many pictures will it store? Review: How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.
The Lexar Media 256MB Memory Stick, like most 256MB cards, will store on average 284 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 213 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 128 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 102 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 80 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.
I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.
Rating: Summary: Sent all forms, but no Rebate ever received from Lexar. Review: I admit that I chose Lexar over Sony because Lexar was offering a rebate at the time. I have also completed the rebate forms and sent it in but have never received the rebate. I know it takes 6 to 8 weeks, but its been 4 months and still nothing from Lexar. Lexar's customer service that I called to check on the rebate is a joke. You'll be better off buying a genuine Sony product for a few bucks more. Had the rebate check been sent, yes this would have been a good bargain. But, I see it as Bad Customer Relations that Lexar wants to promote. Why don't they honor completed Rebate forms and issue Rebates due the customer?
Rating: Summary: Ehhh it works Review: I bought it to use in my sony dsc-p72 and well it worked fine but I could not get past picture #51 it gave me a file error so I had to turn it off and then look at the pictures from the last one back to picture 51. Odd but I just had to delete them all and start over. I had some really good pics I wanted to save but could not.
Rating: Summary: poor performance and bad customer relation department Review: I bought Lexar Media 128 MB memory stick 2 months back and then it was on 'mail in rebate' but I never received one even after sending all the documents with proof of purchase and the bar codes that I could find on the package. The battery consumption of this stick is also more as compared to the sony counter part, which I owned it before. So even though I paid same amount of money, the performance I got is far less than the sony.I recommend that go for the sony one because at least you will get what you paid for and you won't be fooled by the mail in rebate gocha..
Rating: Summary: Good Deal Review: I bought one of the 256's at a local store for 870 some bucks. Works excellent but I never formatted it in the camera. Be sure you do that before taking pictures.
Rating: Summary: Excellent product...very satisfied Review: I bought this 128 MB memory stick 3 months ago. Has worked flawlessly so far in my Sony DSC P72 digital camera .... Lexar sticks are not read by the dazzle DM-8100 memeory stick reader, but a flash upgrade from there site solved the issue.... Overall I think it is a good product at much less what you would pay for Sony.
