Summary: Mixed feelings...
Review: I have mixed feelings about this player. I had one for about 6 months and the connection between the remote and the player started to short out. Had to return it.

Great sound, fun gadget though. Useless headphones and the velveteen carrying case is a joke.

Summary: Great quality in a small package
Review: It's compact size and upgradeable ( via the website ) software makes it a must have for audiophiles. Burn your fav albums or radio shows to an mp3 to a cdr or cdrw and take them with you.Fit 10 - 20 albums on a disc depending on what bitrate you use. You'll never run out of music!
My one gripe about the unit( and it's a minor one) is that this thing eats batteries, and the battery indicator isn't the most accurate. it shows battery power as full till you have about 30 min playing time left at which point it show half or a quartr full.Other than that i'd recommend this hybrid cd/mp3 player to anyone.

Summary: Excllent Mp3 Player
Review: I am very happy with this player. It is very afforadble and you get more than what you pay for. I don't agree with the editorial review, I found the book to be excellent in explaining all the features and how to use it. My only complaint is the carrying case, it should have come with a case with a belt clip. Other than that, I am fully satisfied.

Summary: a very innovative and slick player
Review: i don't know how others people say this player is fragile, they must had thrown it against the wall or something but this player is very well builted. the top is metalloid and has a screening to protect it from scratches and high heat. the lower part is high quality plastic that felt smooth, not like the cheap type from others low end cd player. i purposely drop it and the music was still playing smoothly. it has good shock protection, almost as good as a sport cd player. up to 180sec for normal cd, 480sec for mp3 and 960sec for wma.

whats so great about this player is that it's packed with features. it has 5 buttons buttons on the side, but is a purely remote control player. the remote has very good blue backlight. the brightness is depended on the surrounding lighting. it can be really bright in the dark. very detailed screen and can be hard to read the small texts if you don't bring it close to the eyes.

it allow you to personalize everything the way you wanted. the feature to let you queue a song for the next play is very cool. sound quality is great and there is an equalizer for you to set the frequencies of the bass and treble. it's a great player, you just need to take time to read the manual and charges the batteries after buying it. the only thing i don't like is that you have to wrap a lot of wires around your body. with a normal headphone that would be 9ft to 10ft of wiring! so usually i put the cd player in my pocket and clip the remote control on the 'belt part'. otherwise it's well worth keeping. i also recommend the imp400 which is the perfected version of this player.

also for those who don't understand why the earbud heaphone that come with the player has one wire longer on one side than the other is because you can wear it around the back of your head, so it won't get in the way.

Summary: Lemon
Review: I don't know if I just go a lemon, but, my player performed poorly with CDs and not at all with MP3s. Tried media on other players and they worked fine. Item was returned.

Summary: Most practical portable music machine
Review: All of the raves over this little unit are true. Excellent fit & finish (personally, I'd like to see a thicker aluminum lid on it to resist harder dings) and features galore. Unfortunately, I must agree the unit faults at one major thing. It has an absolutely crystal-clear sound that you can barely hear. The headphone circuitry is very weak at best. I'm too fond of my unit to let it go, but I'll probably end up building a portable headphone amplifier (like at Headwize.com) making my personal portable - less portable.

Summary: Best Value for your dough
Review: Sound quality is excellent ( just replace the generic headphone ) , Has features that a geek would die for ( you can put your name on the display screen) can play any format under the sun. All of this for under a 100 bucks! This used to be 180. What more could you ask for. The only reason why i didnt give it 5 stars is because the buttons are a little hard to press... but this is just a minor detail.

Summary: This is got to be the best one out there!
Review: I own it and it just NEVER skips. Haven't done serious jogging with it though, so can't tell how it's like for that purpose. Sound quality is great! The headphones that come with it are pretty good, but I bought myself an even better ones. Here are the things I like the most about it:
1. Sound quality.
2. Remote has many useful functions (glows too, and doesn't seem to eat up any more power)
3. It's slim, I use my old Rio's belt pouch and it's not even noticeable. Would be nice if iRiver included one of these, they included a ... one (at the time I bought it).
4. I like the way its built, not a cheap design as some of the other ones I've seen. Rio are also well built. But I'd never trade this one for ANYTHING (well ok, maybe only 20gb iPod ;)
5. Check out iRiver's website, they offer firmware support and that's great. I doubt I'll want to go to anything other than mp3 in the near future, but it's still nice to know that it's possible to upgrade. They've updated the old firmware and introduced some new things that improved the functions etc. even added additional equalizer presets.
6. If you want to travel somewhere with it and can't recharge the batteries, you can take this tube with it (included) that takes 2 AA's. I keep it in my bookbag in case I forget to recharge the ones in the player.

Can't think of anything bad about it... except that it lacks a carry case, but then it would be REALLY perfect :)

Summary: Good, but not Great Player
Review: I read the glowing reviews here and decided to upgrade from my CD-only player. I didn't like the fact that it makes alot of noise when "pre-loading" the CD, and it does take about 20 seconds and even longer for a CDRW to do so. It is just as flat as my normal CD player, but it is much wider too. Another reason why I don't give this a 5-star rating is that the equalizer is pretty .... Forget about any DSP surround sound you get with just listening to MP3s on your PC with a Sound Blaster sound card. Not even the simple DSP settings I got with my CD player like live and extra bass. Everything just sounds like FM radio. But I guess you don't need that when you're outdoors with all the noise anyhow. It is extremely convenient to have 150 songs on one CD and the playlist ability, but you sacrifice a little quality for alot of convenience. Still very good buy for the price.

Summary: Great Product
Review: I was not totally confident that tis product would beas good as I hoped when I ordered it. I had seen some reviews which made it sound cheap and easily breakible. But I have been using it for a couple weeks now and it is great! The remote is really useful, if you like earbuds the ones that come in the package are good, the basic functions are easy to use and learn, it has great sounds quality.
