Summary: Good if you know how to use it
Review: I read other users' reviews and expected a dud. Well, it is a dud if you think you can leave it on the treadmill and race away. The player is not made to withstand the jarring of a treadmill. If you hold it in your hand and run with it, it's fine. I've had no problems with it at all. It is a little unrealistic to expect a manufacturer to make something for $60 that will withstand that kind of bouncing around. Holding it is no problem although it would be nice to have a strap like the Sony one. That's why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, no strap and the headphones are a little too weird for me. No problems with the sound, they're just not the Sony earbuds that I'm used to.

Summary: A Good Buy
Review: I wanted to get a new CD player so I searched for one using Amazon.com It took time but I decided on the Aiwa player. I got it for Christmas. After getting it out, I put in a CD and was moving the player around and it skipped. I thought there was something wrong. I then twisted the headphone jack and got a fuzzy sound. I thought, great, a CD player I wanted but something was wrong with it! Later, after using it more, it didn't do that anymore because I would try and see if I got the fuzzy sound. I looked in the direction about the CD player and it said to wait about 20 seconds for the EASS to start working more. Now, my CD player doesn't do it at all! The sound is good and even though you have to press the button to get more bass like just about all CD players, it sounds a lot better and isn't fuzzy. It doesn't make it sound bad like some other players would do. The headphones are a different design but are good and haven't really made my ears hurt. They might be the best headphones I have had. I didn't buy it because I was a jogger or a walker, I got it because it was the best one I found. So, if you are thinking about getting this CD player, don't think just because it says Cross Trainer that you shouldn't get it.

Review: I wish I had returned this, but it's been awhile, so I guess I'm stuck with it. I bought this walkman to use on my commuter bus to block out "loud talkers." Okay, it does accomplish that just fine. However, it is not very loud and the extra bass is either not enough or too much, thereby causing distortion. Like other reviewers have written, the headphone jack is just bizarre. If you move the headphone jack, it makes a fuzzy, static noise, and on my particular walkman, if I touch the headphone jack, the walkman beeps at me and skips to the next song!! SO ANNOYING!! Save your blood pressure, don't buy this!

Review: It should be noted that this unit, despite the Amazon.com description, does not have a built in exercise monitor ("This unit also incorporates equalization circuitry with preprogrammed settings (classical, pop/rock, and jazz) that you can quickly and easily select to keep your music sounding the best. Also included is a built-in exercise monitor that lets you set your own training goals.") ... While I was disappointed about the lack of features advertized, I agree that the CD player is very durable, has very nice sound, and has never skipped (I've used it for at least 2 dozen work-outs). However, if you are looking for music specific equalization circuitry or an exercise monitor, you won't find one in this model.

Review: Looks good but looks arnt everyting when it comes to electorinics, and i have had numerous problems with this and its spent more times geting fixed than ive been able to listin ot it. ive had all the same problems as everyone else too!

Summary: Nice unit on the outside
Review: My son purchased on of these on 12/31/2001.On April 15th, 2002 it was dead. Simply dead, no power. Changed batteries and used the ac adaptor. It will cost more to repair it that he paid and Aiwa is unsympathetic. Steer clear of Aiwa.

Summary: The best unit I have tried for the money.....
Review: Out of three portable CD players I have had in the last year, this is the best. The only downsides are that it has no tuner (but you can get it for about twenty more) and the batterhy life isn't quite as long as I would of liked. I haven't noticed the touchy ear jack problem that others have complained about. The jog-memory works fine while mountain biking and working out so no problem there. The sound is top nothch and I have never had the player open up on me once like other people do. Bottom Line: An ugly but effective portable CD player that is worth it for the price.
