Summary: An amazing product
Review: Another helpful fact for those still torn between the RioVolt SP250 and the iRiver SlimX iMP-350: both drives are made by the same manufacturer and therefore are virtually identical in terms of performance and features. Personal preference regarding the application of the features [such as the slim profile which eliminates an on-player lcd display in exchange for a (well designed) in-line remote with display] and sensitivity to stylistic aspects of each player should be the deciding factors between the two players. I'm happy with my SlimX.

Summary: #1 I'll never need to buy another Player
Review: This by far is the best portable music player out there. The sound is great, the buttons and such are very easy to use, and it plays anything. My favortie part about this player is that it's upgradable. That's really what pushed me towards buying this player. Iriver also keeps making upgrades for product even after they have stopped making them which keeps yu from having t buy a new player every year.
Another thing. Someone on their review said that when they turned up the volume that the sound would distort, this person has a pair of blown head phone (speakers within the head phons are blown) and it does take much to do that ..., and besides this player put out alot but definitly not enough to blow a pair of head phones.
I would recomend getting a CD burner and doing some reseach about MP3s before deciding to buy this product because in order to get full use of this player even though it's practically a give away ...Oh and get a file sharing program (limewire, Kazaa, Morpheus) or having some way of loading your CDs and MP3s (music) onto your computer.

Summary: Dont buy this if you want loud!
Review: I got this purchase along with some others at the same time ... . I like all of them, except this one. The others were all brand name items, but I went on a hunch (mainly on the reviews I read on here) and ordered this item. I feel disappointed. The unit is slim, and does all it claims to do,and has a funky (tho small) remote unit. However, (deep breath!); there is a reason why brand name items persevere in the market place, despite their cost. For one this CD-player is no way loud enough. At '40' the top volume, it's audible, just! I would not expect that from a brand name item, indeed my 10 year old aiwa walkman, is SO much louder than this. The build quality is as you would expect from a no-name item. A slim product from sony would feel sturdy even if it was as thin as this item. This doesnt, its decidedly unsturdy, and I dont feel that this will stand upto frequent travelling that I do.

As such, after using this once, this item is going to be given to my 12y/o sister, as it wont damage her ears however hard she tries, and because as I opened the box and used it, I cannot return it. ...

If you buy this, be prepared for the shortfall in its overall abilities. It may look good, but if you cant hear the music, and you dont feel confident in its ability to ware well, in my mind, its useless.

Summary: Question: Car Kit
Review: Does anyone know if Slim-X has the capability to play in the car? I mean, I have a car kit with my regular CD player, but I was wondering if I can play Slim-X in my car? Thanks.

Summary: very nice design, but there's a big fault to it
Review: i bought this iriver slimx just a couple weeks ago. my baby cousin was meddling with the remote one day, and he put it in his mouth and broke the remote. after that, i did not have any means of seeing what songs i'm listening to. THIS IS A BIG FAULT to the cd player. think about it - without the remote, you have no access to another LCD! when i had the remote, i liked it.

Summary: Just Plain Amazing
Review: This is the most powerful, easy to use, best sounding and full featured player I have ever used. The control takes about 5 minutes of playing around with it & reading the manual (which is also excellent) to learn how to use it fully but even out of the box it's easy to figure out. The battery discharge then charge feature is very nice for prolonging battery life. My biggest concern about how the player would handle high bit-rate VBR MP3s was dispelled immediately. I'm playing MP3s encoded with LAME with an average bit rate of 240 & the highest quality setting and they sound great! The default headphones may not be the greatest but once you get a real set attached to the player it sounds just amazing. The FM tuner is very clear and easy to use. I haven't and probably won't use the WMA feature but it's nice to know it's there. Upgrading the firmware was simple and easy. All in all this is the best MP3/CD player I have ever seen. The display is very easy to read and makes navigating the CD simple. I recommend this for anyone who wants the best product for their money.

Summary: Home Run!!
Review: This is my first MP3 Player, CD or otherwise and I'm thrilled with my decision. The size is nice, as well as the ability to use the remote or not. I'm still breaking in the rechargable batteries for the best lifespan, but it's nice having the option of adding double AA's. Once you learn the remote's triple-function buttons, navigation is fairly easy. I find the remote easy enough to read and the display graphics great, although the small text size has been a minor complaint in other reviews. Finally the audio is superb (with real headphones, that is) with a nice high-powered headphone amp and line out. It plays VBR files flawlessly, and the skip protection works. You could probably jog with this...

Negatives: The included headphones are poor(to be expected) and finally when all options are connected, there's an awful lot of junk hanging off the unit, but that's just an asthetic concern. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Summary: Worth the $
Review: I've had the player for about 3 months now. It is a quality product. I use it with B&O headphones . The headphones that came with the unit are, however, also quite good.

The only problems are that there are too many parts to mess with. It would have been easier if the controls were all on the unit. Also the controls are so small they are hard to read.

I would however recommend it for being a good quality -- very light, yet sturdy machine

Summary: wel....
Review: it's a great cd-mp3 player, but i gave it 2 stars because there is one big problem with it. if you put the volume up past half way it distorts. it doesn't matter if you are playing mp3s, or right off a regular music cd, it always distorts, which is probably why i almost never use it and haven't left the house with it yet.

Summary: A well-engineered MP3/CD Product!
Review: I did ALOT of research before purchasing an MP3/CD player and I made an excellent choice with the IRiver 350. Here's why:

1) Batteries that recharge IN the player.
2) A backup adapter for two AA batteries (that can also be rechargable)
3) IP3 Tags are displayed on the remote
4) The remote works great w/clip to belt or strap
5) The player is ultra-slim
6) You can easily place the player in your suitcase/bookbag and simply use the remote exclusively.
7) They have already updated the firmware once and the product directions as well.
8) The sound is great and a built-in equilizer allows you to change tones for different music types.
9) NO SKIPS YET!

The only downer:
1) Bad earbuds (they hurt)

If you are going in the direction of an MP3/CD player, I highly recommend this baby.
