Summary: Amazing what one can do in such a tiny space!
Review: I have now completed two of these mini-albums from Making Memories, and each is completely different. The first one I completed was done using a variety of papers and embellishments, completely covering the original cover. That one shares the story of a friendship of over 10 years in these tiny 4 by 4 pages, and the virtual smallness forced me to really consider the essence of that friendship. It was a fun project and will be a treasure.

The other mini-album was done to add journaling to a layout about the Book of Kells at Trinity College in Dublin. For this one, I tried dry embossing a Celtic knot onto the cover and then embossing it with gold. Easier said than done, as even the lightweight cardstock was difficult to see through, but I did manage, and loved my final result.

The product will still require actual pages, which can be purchased separately and are available in different colors and styles, or basic bookbinding skills can be put to use to create page inserts. It can hold from 8-10 pages without becoming distorted. My friendship book, which makes use of dimensional elements on the pages, closes with eight pages.

Now really, even at this low price, one might think it's silly to spend any money to make a paper book cover, when it's a good bet there is a ton of scrap cardstock somewhere in your workspace. True enough. The way I see it, the folding and scoring is done, and the three bucks I spend is time saved so that I can do the stuff I really enjoy, which is the design of the scrapbook. It's up to you to decide. Should you wish to see either of my projects, an email asking for directions will point you the way!
