Rating: Summary: Excellent Home Scanner Review: This scanner does a great job of scanning color negatives and slides. I have not tried B&W yet. Holds up to six negatives or four positives at a time, and works very fast, even on my old Pentium III. I save everything at the highest resolution on my hard drive, then burn it to CD for storage. The Auto Dust Brush feature removes all the dust you cant see with the naked eye, but that will ruin an otherwise good scan. The software is easy to use and install, but offers plenty of options for tweaking your images. Based on the price of having a photo shop scan your slides, this unit has already paid for itself.

Rating: Summary: Capable of excellent results but noisy. Review: This scanner provides excellent results, although it's operation can be quite noisy at times. The footprint (size) of the scanner is relatively small and it appears to be quite solidly built. The software provided (Adobe Photoshop Elements) will also satisfy most requirements. One criticism I have of the scanner is that when saving the image to file etc., anything less than at full resolution tends to crop a little off the image area. I have tried to overcome this but without any success to date. Full resolution enabling the saving of 100% of the image area of the slide. The Auto Dust Brush feature is also very useful and will prevent the ruining of many otherwise excellent scans. (The scanner was designed for USB 2.0 but also works well with USB 1.1). I have found the colour rendition of all scans to date to be accurate and without any distortion. The film holders provided are suitable for up to four slides and up to six negatives. For this price you cannot really go wrong with this scanner. It is extremely easy to operate and relatively easy to install, as is the provided image manipulation software. I understand that an updated model is imminent, so prices of this particular scanner might become even more attractive. All in all though, you cannot really go wrong with this purchase. It is an excellent scanner for the money...if you can tolerate the noise. It is only the minor niggles that I have outlined that prevent a five star rating.
Rating: Summary: superb quality, reasonable price Review: Very satisfied: Scan quality is excellent, especially with slides and b/w film. Works great with Mac OSX. Resolution of the scan exceed all but the very top pro digital cameras. I haven't even used much the max resolution, since I can't print larger than 8x10. I am a believer in film photography, and with this scanner you can get the best of both worlds. The software seems relatively feature rich.
