Summary: Good color, but...
Review: I've had my printer for about 2 years. This printer does make good color prints, but I wish I had purchased an Epson, because the HP will not handle heavy card stock well at all. Using the rear manual paper feeder can be a nighmare. As in one of the previous reviews, I also ended up throwing away as much paper as I used. In order to get 65 invitations printed, I used 125 pieces of paper. That was a big disappointment. I've owned an Epson in the past, which does handle heavier papers with ease and I intend to go back to them.

Summary: Mostly satisfied
Review: I've owned mine for a couple of years, and have gotten good results with it. The main reason I chose this printer was for its ability to print on 11 X 17 paper. I've made some very nice 2-page real estate fliers using this size paper. My only gripe is that it does not handle heavy card stock well at all, even carefully using the rear manual paper feeder that provides a straight path. Every time I try, I end up throwing away as much as I use. That was a big disappointment.

Summary: Don't waste your money on this printer
Review: Like other HP printers, this one is no different. It works for a few months and then will not feed paper properly. It has three paper feed paths, none of them feed the paper straight. If you are only printing 8.5x11 text documents this would do you just fine, otherwise dont waste your money.

Summary: 18 Months Product - and then its bye, bye
Review: Like other users on this website, I bought this product 18 months ago. It worked well for about 12 months. Then one day it couldn't handle 13x19 inch paper, any longer. A littler later it couldnt' handle 11x17 and by now I have problems even with letter size paper. The rollers don't feed the paper correctly, so that pictures and text is printed at an angle.

Hewlett Packard acknowledges that this product has had this problem, but blames it on the paper that people use. I doubt this is the case, given that I have only used HP paper and paper with the same weight as HPs papers.

Therefore don't buy this product. It's great for a while, but the quality of the rollers in the printer are so miserable that the printer doesn't last for very long.

HP offered to replace it for $ 275 ! Now, who would do that ?

Summary: Disappointed
Review: Owning a photography business I needed a printer to print brochures, pamphlets and flyers that contained photos, on heavy card stock. During the first few months it did a good job but after that the heavy paper just wouldn't feed. As a result there was a massive waste of paper. Three months after the 1 year warranty expired the printer completly stopped working.

Summary: Very disappointed with HP 1220 printer
Review: Painfully slow and non-responsive. I always liked HP products. But this printer changed all that. Even HP can make a piece of junk like this. Don't buy it, or you would be disappointed.

Summary: Great Performer
Review: The HP 1220C is a very good printer, good speed, excellent graphics with rich, vibrant colors. It's not as fast as my HP 2000C printer but I think the print quality is better, less banding. I just wish the 1220C had seperated color cartridges, but you can't have everthing. Overall, it's a very good performer with lots of nice features, i.e., the pull out area in the back of the printer for clearing paper jams. I have printed posters, digital photos, brochures, programs and have not been disappointed in its performance.

Summary: Works great....but only with light weight paper!
Review: This printer does not load paper properly if it is anything thicker than 6 mil. All of the nice Photo Papers that are a bit thicker and produce wonderful color, do not feed into the roller properly, and the top portions of the photos don't appear. The color is fantastic, but who cares if your missing part of the photo?
You need a JetPrint Server for the tool box to work...(an additional $200 item)and the drivers are very poor. Standard paper feeds properly, but after spending $400 for one that can "do it all", I can't afford another for my photos!

Summary: planned obsolescence?
Review: This printer prints beautifully, but unfortunately just a few weeks after the warranty ran out, it won't turn on anymore. From what I've heard this has happened to a lot of people who bought this model. So only buy it if you intend to throw it out in less than a year. Thanks a lot HP.
