Rating: Summary: Great printer Review: Set up was a snap and it works great. Not too loud and the print quality is great for the price.
Rating: Summary: Confirmed customer Review: I received this printer in the correct delivery time. I was glad to see everything was there and I set it up easily. I use the MacOSX so the directions are not great for us. I called tech support directly with a question about having to download a driver which was not on the CD. They were super friendly and listened to my concerns. I called the following day about ink level viewing which again was unclear in their manual. Tech support was patient, caring and knew their stuff. The printer is super for its price. and I am having a ball. I am now a Canon customer for life...
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Value Review: I had an Epson Stylus Color640 previously and was very disappointed with the range of abilities it had. It did great when making pictures, slow and easy. That was okay but when it came to heavy duty printing, such as printing a novel on two-sided paper, it was terrible. The pages skipped and got all out of order- and in a three-hundred page book, that little error will kill you. Enter the Canon S520. What a marvelous piece of equipment. It is fast and accurate and allowed me to print an entire 290 page book, on two-sided paper in a little over an hour! I'm not kidding. As for the photos printed on the Canon, their special paper really brings out the depth of color and resolution. I also have the Canon EOS Rebel Ti camera (bought from Amazon last Christmas) and I couldn't be happier if you pinched me! Canon is a fantastic electronics company. Don't hesitate: if you're looking for a printer, this one is easily the best value out there!
Rating: Summary: I love it!!! Review: I was less than pleased with the quality of the prints from the printer I already had when I tried to print pictures taken with my digital camera. I wanted a new printer, but didn't want to spend too much money since I already had one that is a 4-in-one, so I knew I wouldn't be getting rid of it. A friend suggested this model and from the first test print, I was impressed. It even prints graphics just as beautifully. I made some very professional and clear business cards for my mom, and she doesn't want to give them out because because they look so nice. However, there is one draw back, it's extremely slow. So, if you're looking for speed, this is not the product for you. If you're not in a hurry, this is an excellent buy especially for the price. I would definitely recommend it. I use the Canon for things that I want to look especially nice and I use the other one for regualr day to day things.
Rating: Summary: Canon S520 review Review: I looked around at a lot of printers and bought this one because of price, the reviews from others and the cost of replacement ink tanks (cheap). The printer is fast, quiet and has excellent quality printing. Two complaints. The printer driver would not download to my hard drive from the CD. But they have a free download center at Canon and that worked great and fixed the problem. The other is the rebate. I bought this because of the price ...The printer is great...
Rating: Summary: wow Review: I will keep it short. I purchase this printer because of it's price, but when I recieved shipment and install it and used it the 1st thing out of my mouth was wow........... fast and quiet operation. I recomend anyone looking for a printer consider purchasing the canon S520 you will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: Great Printer for the Price! Review: I recently purchased a Brother all in one machine, but found that it didn't have the quality I needed for photo's. After doing some research and knowing that I didn't want an Epson (many problems in the past with Epson going through Ink quickly, and clogging) I decided to try the Canon S520 Bubblejet Printer. I am VERY pleased with the quality of the prints! It was very easy out of the box set up. I would recommend this printer to anyone wanting a good deal on an inexpensive printer. I'm impressed! THe only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is that it's a little bit noisy, after it's done printing a page. The first time it startled me, now I'm used to it - But, if you're looking for something extremely quite, this may not be the best choice. Overall though, great printer!
Rating: Summary: Be Warned Review: I've had the Canon S520 printer since December 2002 and it's been a huge disappointment. It features individual ink tanks for each color so that you only have to replace the tank that's empty but the ink runs out at warp speed. The last black cartridge I bought only lasted 12 days--a real shock considering the printer is for my personal use and only used occasionally. Printing on my old Lexmark printer was never a problem--the cartridges lasted a good six months at least. You'll spent a lot of time browsing the Troubleshooting portion of the manual-everything from why the printer isn't responding to why it tries to print but there's no ink on the paper. Although still under warranty, tech support is virtually nonexistent unless you like communicating by email or calling long distance to the East Coast since Canon doesn't provide an 800 number.
Rating: Summary: So far, so good Review: Bought this for the combination of speed and color print quality. It's fast enough, once it gets going. Sometimes it spends alot of time thinking before it starts to print. Probably doing some auto-calibration peculiar to Canon bubblejet technology. I should read the manual, but I don't really have to. This is a great printer; was easy to set up; makes great color prints, but more importantly for me, it's fast (used in a home office).
Rating: Summary: ... BJC5100 ...!! Review: As you can probably guess from the title, I use to own a Cannon BJC5100 printer. I must say, it .... The quality was poor, very noisy, slow, and most of all, the ink was [money]. This not the worst of it however, as Cannon didn't bother to write a XP driver for the model. There goes my [money]! Anyhow, I though I'd never buy Cannon again(especially after telling a customer support person the very same), but after some research (and checking my wallet), I thought S520 was not too bad. The thing is, S520 isn't bad at all. It's still noisy as hell, and the printer has a habit of cleaning it self in ungodly hours, but other than that I have had no other problems. Had it for a month now, and I must have printed 150 pages by now and the ink indicator is still full. The way I figured, even if it's half full, [money] for 150 pages ain't bad. The generic cartriges cost [money] shipped btw. Don't know about printing quality, and I don't care. Being a college student, all I want are papers with black words on them. At [money] per page, it don't get anycheaper than that. I must say, Cannon has really improved its products in the last year. Guess my five phone calls to Cannon about their ... BJC5100 didn't fall on deaf ears after all (if you own a s520 you should thank me now). And just in case you are still considering getting a BJC5100 used, you might as well ... yourself in the foot now. It's a lot less painfull.
