Summary: Cheaper printing carts
Review: The 40-pack w/ink is $18.99 at Costco, which is about the cheapest I've found it--this comes to about 50 cents a print with sales tax. This is 20 cents more per print than taking your picture card into the store for finishing, so as other reviewers have said, you need to weigh the convenience factor. As for the price of entry, don't be afraid to save $30-$50 by buying a refurbished model--you get the same 1-year warranty. Plus keep in mind that the printer includes a 10-pack cartridge (about a $5 value) and an extra camera battery (a $20 value), so the price of entry may not be as high as you think. (A refurb unit goes for aroud $120, which makes it less than $100 after you consider the extras.)

There's another benefit if your Kodak easy share camera didn't come with a recharging dock; if it did, you can probably sell it on eBay for $30 or so. One nice thing about having the camera docked for recharging is that you always know where it is. I have a DX6490 and have yet to have to resort to swapping batteries in a day's use.

Also be aware that a new model is coming out in June that offers a couple extra, though for most of us minor features (check www.kodak.com for details); this will likely drive prices on the current version even lower.

Summary: great quality prints, but per print cost is higher
Review: the Kodak EasyShare 6000 printer dock is a one-stop shop for all CX/DX 6000 and LS 600 series cameras. it charges the camera's NiMH battery pack, connects via USB to the computer for downloading data, connects to a TV for slideshows, plus it's a high quality 4x6-inch borderless dye transfer printer.

this printer dock can be used with or without a computer and it is small, lightweight, and very portable. it is very easy to use - simply place your compatible camera on the dock, select a picture (or group of pictures) using the camera's LCD, and press the "PRINT" button. wait about 90 seconds and you have a borderless high quality 4x6 print! you can select to print one picture, a group of selected images, or all the pictures in your camera's memory. you can also print an index sheet.

this is a dye transfer printer, not an inkjet, and according to KODAK, print quality will be lab-quality. this is just one opinion, but i cannot tell the difference between a print from the easyshare printer dock 6000 and one from a photo service like ofoto so i agree with KODAK's claim.

so is this a good buy? you'll have to answer that question for yourself. image quality is good enough that it becomes a non-issue so it all boils down to cost/value. the cost of entry obviously is the cost of this printer dock. ongoing, prints made with this product will run you about sixty cents (or about twenty-five percent higher than what ofoto charges). in return for your investment and higher printing cost, you don't have to bother uploading files to photo services or bring your flash memory to your local photo shop. for this convenience (and instant gratification), i think this is a great buy.

i hope this helps you with your buying decision. peace.

Summary: Oh My God. Enough said.
Review: This has to be one of man's greatest creations next to the camera itself. I own a Kodak CX6330 digital camera, and had never even heard of this printer until last week when I bought it. (Yes I've only had my camera for a week!) I read about this printer dock actually on accident when I was surfing Amazon.com for good rechargeable batteries to use. I ran across the dock, read about it, saw the reviews and decided that there was no way this thing actually prints flawless pictures. I decided I had to see it for myself. So I went to a local Staples that had one sitting out on display for example use and WOW... this thing is no joke. Photolab quality photos in a minute and a half. I was sold on the first picture this little baby printed out for me. The only word I could think of at the time was "Incredible".
Like most people have said, it is in fact expensive to use... but I said it once and I'll say it again, I'll PAY the extra 30 cents a print to be able to print the photos at home, on demand, any time of day or night, and print only the ones I want. The convenience and the quality you recieve for the price of this printer are worth far more then how much you're paying per print. This is truly a necessity for any avid photographer, or anyone that loves to take pictures. It is, in a word, Incredible.

Summary: Makes EXCELLENT Pictures!!!!
Review: This is the $199 (or less) Kodak EasyShare 6000 Printer Dock. It performs all the same functions as the EasyShare 6000 Dock (charges the camera's NiMH battery pack that comes with the printer dock, downloads images and movie clips to the computer via the USB port and connects to a TV for slideshows) plus it's a high quality 4x6-inch (10x15cm) borderless dye transfer printer.

This is a dye transfer printer, not an inkjet. The printing is accomplished by a four-pass process, one for each color (cyan, yellow and magenta) and the forth pass applies the XtraLife protective overcoat.

Usint the controls you can print the current picture (default), print the pictures that have been preselected using the Share button, print all, or print an index sheet. The "-" and "+" buttons lets you scroll throught he pictures stored in the camera and print whatever is shown on the LCD.

The indicators across the top warn if the paper is out, show the level of charge in the camera battery and tell you when it is time to replace the ribbon cartridge.

The print packs contain the ribbon cartidge and two packs of printing paper with 20 sheets in each pack. The ribbon is good for all 40 prints, breaking the paper down into two packages helps keep it fresher.

To make a "perfect" 4x6-inch borderless print you use the camera's Best (3:2) quality mode. The 3:2 aspect ratio yields an image that fits perfectly on the 4x6-inch paper with no cropping required, your entire image is printed. The white borders you see on this print are break-away tabs that you remove after the print is finished.

When printing images captured with the other quality settings some cropping will occur.

Summary: Great quality, super convenient, and expensive to use
Review: This little printer spits out borderless 4x6 photos that are completely indistinguishable from those you would get from a photo lab. However, each 4x6 print costs, according to my calculations, just over 62 cents--and that's just for consumables (paper and cartridges) and does not factor in the price of the unit itself. Think about that before you buy it. My wife can't live without this thing because of how nice it is to have great looking photos printed on demand. I'm not so sure the convenience justifies the price.

Summary: An Amateur's New Best Friend!
Review: This printer dock is amazing! I had it up and running in about 5 minutes and printed my first picture the next minute. It is very user friendly and not complicated at all. The quality of the photos is definitely comparable to professional developing. I don't see any differences. The picture prints in 4 passes--first yellow, then magenta, followed by cyan (blue), and finishes with a clear coat for lamination and protection purposes. The printer dock comes with a starter pack to print 10 pictures. After that, you buy a kit with a cartridge that prints exactly 40 pictures. No need to worry about buying paper and ink at separate times! This printer dock is compatible with Kodak CX and DX 6000 cameras and also the Kodak LS600 series. If you own a compatible camera, I highly recommend buying this printer dock, too!!! No need to be experienced in the digital world!

Summary: A must-have for the scrapbook fanatic
Review: This printer is great! The photos are very high-quality. It is NOT an inkjet printer. I am a scrapbooker and love the fact that I can print out archival quality photos from home --instantly~!

You do not need to have a Kodak Easyshare camera to use this printer (even though I have one and love it). You can just use it as a printer by itself.

Summary: Great printer dock! More on cost-per-print...
Review: We have been using this dock CONSTANTLY since our baby was born...and it has worked perfectly every time, producing excellent photos! I use the EasyShare DX6440 camera with it.

A few things about the cost-per-print issue. If you are paying 60-62 cents per print, you are not looking hard enough for a good price. I've found deals that knock the price down to 50 cents per print or better.

Also...the dock and the included software make it very easy to place 2 or 4 different pictures on one 4x6 piece of paper. This is handy if you want to, for example, send pictures of your baby to family/friends, and show your baby in different poses without using up as much paper.

And finally...the convenience is well worth the cost. I love having a print in my hands a couple of minutes after taking the picture. The dock is VERY portable as well...just need a nearby outlet. I was printing pictures in the hospital right after the baby was born! Definitely worth the extra cost, in my opinion.

A first-class printer all the way!

Summary: Enjoying a "printing lab" in my room
Review: Yesterday I purchased the Kodak printer dock 6000 to go along with my Kodak Cx6330 digital camera. So far I am very pleased. The first thing I noticed about this printer dock is the size. It's small enough to sit on my little desk with extra room. Secondly, it was a breeze to set up. It took, at most, 10 minutes. Make sure you have you custom insert handy in case the universal insert is not to your liking.

The price for this printer dock is great. Having a "printing lab" in your room for under $150? That's pretty cool. Luckily, I received a 256 MB MC with this purchase free (about a $100 value). This printer comes with a sample pack of 10 4 x 6's. It has a sample printer cartridge. It's definitely a sample. It printed out about 10 photos before telling me I need to replace the cartridge. That being said, I recommend buying a set of 4 X 6's and color cartridge.

Speaking of which, this printer dock only prints 4 X 6 photographs. Not a problem for me, but may be for others. The Kodak printer dock 6000 prints beautiful photographs quickly. First it prints the yellows, then reds, and finally, the blues. The photo quality is superb.

Using this printer dock with my computer is a great option. I am able to print off photographs stored on my computer or edit all photographs before printing. I am not sure if this can be done without the computer, but I can also center the photographs. This way I do not lose any of the photograph while removing the perforated edges. This may not matter to some, but to me it is a very important aspect in making the images look their best.

I do not see any reason to not rate the Kodak Printer Dock 6000 less than 5 stars. If there is, I will edit my review. :)
