Review: Quiet Mode - Doesn't just reduce noise. Will also slow the printer's operation a bit. Why would you want to do this, you may ask? I ran in draft mode and the printer was so fast it sucked the paper from the paper tray at an impressive speed ... so fast that it can feed the paper slightly askew and almost throw it across the room on eject. In "standard mode" plain paper printing can be so fast the ink hasn't completely dried. So ... it can sometimes be a good thing to slow this creature down a bit and Quiet Mode is the way to do it. I run that way all the time and life is good.Ink Cartridges have no "stale date" - Don't make yourself crazy trying to read the dotted characters at the package bottom to read a date into it. They're lot numbers, not encoded dates. Unlike all HP cartridges and most Epson cartridges, Canon just doesn't date its ink. It "seems" that ink cartridges without self contained print heads have very long shelf lives since there are no internal jets to clog as the sealed cartridge ages. I will believe the Canon rep on this one since it makes sense, although I'm always more comfortable knowing the age of the ink. Like many of you I want a reserve of ink "at the ready" so I just buy from a retailer that always has a fresh supply like Best Buy, Staples, OfficeMax and probably Amazon. The Nozzle Game - Don't let the salesman sell you a more expensive Canon (I860, I960) because it "has more nozzles". More nozzles doesn't mean anything in terms of printer resolution or precision. Each cartridge has a certain number of nozzles, no matter what printer it's used on. I believe Black has 320 and color 512 except yellow which has 256. The I560 holds 4 cartridges and if you do the math has 320+512+512+256=1600 nozzles. The I860 has an extra 256 nozzles but that's only because is can hold a 5th cartridge (black with 256 nozzles). Ditto with I960 which holds 6 cartridges at 512 nozzles each for a whopping 3000+ nozzles. So, consider the advantages of having more cartridges and the essence of these cartidges but don't be led to think that high nozzle counts means it prints better. Warrantees and Print Heads - Just be aware that unlike HP printers the Canon I-Series has one installable print head which will likely determine the useful life of the printer. Since the cartridges do not have print heads they are less expensive, but they do not contribute to the useful life of the printer. I do know that the apparently simple and little print head is claimed by Canon to have a lot of electronics in it and is the most expensive component of the printer. So ... when it goes, the printer goes (costs around $70-$80). Canon expects their print heads to last 1-3 years, maybe more, and their $50 extended warranty covers it. I was tempted to buy the $30 extended warranty from Best Buy but was told the print head is a "consumable" and won't be replaced. So ... Buyer Beware on warrantees and expect to surrender your beloved Canon when the print head goes. Enjoy your Canon and treat yourself to a new one every couple years or so. I'm very happy with my I560 and Canon support for this and my LiDE50 Scanner has been solid. (I pay for the phone call and in return they offer me courtesy, knowledge and they even speak English.) -- Sam

Summary: WOW! Great Photo Printer For Just A Bit More Than New Ink
Review: My old HP 880C needed new ink cartridges but I felt the money spent on ink (forty - fifty dollars) would be better spent towards a new, up-to-date technology printer. Man, prices have come down in the five years since I got the HP. Print quality has gone the opposite way (way up). This printer prints FANTASTIC photos. The sample Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy prints are indistinguishable from lab prints...in many ways they're even better because you can crop/frame exactly what you want and print only the shots you really like. I love this printer. Right now, Amazon sells a 50 pack of the Canon 4x6 photo paper plus for just under 8 bucks with free super saver shipping on twenty-five dollar orders. In addition, consider that this printer has separate ink cartridges and relatively cheap ink prices and you can't go wrong.

Review: I bought the i560 yesterday and hooked it up this morning. Amazing print quality using the provided Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy. I had some Kodak Ultima Picture Paper, and the results were acceptable, but you can tell the Canon Paper is definitely the way to go. I had a Canon S450 and was starting to have print problems. I picked up the i560 from Sam's for $99. A great buy.

Review: This printer has exceeded all my expectations. Having used HP's for years, I have to say this printer is a welcome change. The color prints are the most natural I've seen with no color manipulation necessary. The inks seem to last forever, and the 4-ink system (three photo color inks plus a double size black) works very well for both photos and text. The included software is excellent. The Easy-Photo Print program makes child's play of printing photos, including stunning borderless prints with just a few clicks of the mouse. The PhotoStitch program allows you to easily merge photos into panoramas or photo-montages. An excellent all around printer for the home.

Summary: A lemon i560 or shall I say a piece of junk!
Review: After reading all those excellent reviews and the $30 rebate convinced me to get this printer. On arrival I excitedly followed all the instructions, putting in the print head and color ink tanks. Installed the softwares and I proceed to make my 1st print, guess what the print head moved back and forth but only white paper spitted out. Nothing was printed. Called the Canon support who was very helpful. Walked me through and did a dozen deep cleaning and other dianostics. Still it doesn't print. What a piece of junk this is. Don't buy this printer is my advice. Now I have to send this back for replacement and its bulky too. The $30 rebate is just not worth the trouble.

Review: Okay... I have been buying things on amazon for years now and I have never been so happy. I just got my canon i560 printer in the mail today. I put it together in a snap... and then using one of the 4x6 glossy photo paper (that is included in the box) I printed a picture of a friends son. The quality of this photo is better than expensive photo labs that I have gone to in the past. It really is amazing! I then printed out regular text files and the various fonts that were used were crisp and clear. I even made three iron on print outs for three t-shirts and they came out great too!!!
Let me explain that I am not one of those people that have the time to go back to amazon and write a review but I had to come back to let everyone know just how great this machine is. I am starting a small business and needed something that I could rely on but really didn't have the money to spend on some of the other printers that I came across... now I am happy that I didn't because I may have ended up by spending more money on something that didn't work as well. If you want to be happy with a printer and not break the bank... buy this machine!!!

Review: I picked one up for 89 bucks at sams. It included power cable USB cable and inks. Also a five pack of ink is 45 bucks (2 black 1 magenta 1 yellow and 1 cyan). And if it breaks within one year instant exchange.

Review: Just got this printer for X-mas. Had an old bjc4400. Could not believe the speed and quality of this unit. I have just started using a digital camera and was looking for a printer that could do a great photo job at a reasonable price. I FOUND IT!! Photos are super.The individual ink tanks are far more economical than my old unit and they go alot further. Unit has may neat features as well.
Would recommend to anyone.

Review: I sturggled with my HP 690c for a couple of years before taking the plunge into a new printer. This thing is whisper quiet and makes some absolutely gorgeous photo prints. Plus, the photo printing on regular paper is excellent, too. As a bonus, the ink is much less expensive than HP ink (a major factor in my case). I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. As someone who resisted buying a new printer because all the options seem way too confusing, I highly recommend this one.
