Summary: Excellent printer, few quirks
Review: I'm an HP nut, but I decided to try this printer after the rave reviews. I must admit, I'm impressed - but not enough to get rid of my HPs.

The one thing that disappoints me with this printer is its varied text printing quality. Sometimes it's laser quality, other times it looks like it was printed on a printer made ten years ago. I use the same paper and same settings each time. Other users have confirmed my findings. I don't quite know what exactly causes it, but my HP is much better in this respect.

Photo quality is excellent. At this price, it's an excellent way to get your feet wet in digital photo printing - this is a regular four color printer, but is still perfectly capable of producing stunning prints. I still get noticeably better prints on my six color HP, but this Canon is by no means "junk".

I like the fact that it's fast AND quiet. My HP is a bit slow sometimes, and when you're in a rush, this Canon can do the job. Photo printing is fast as well.

The individual ink cartridges are the BEST feature of this printer in my opinion. I am visually inspecting the cartridges one by one every few days to see how they're going - as I'm printing a lot of everything to test the capabilities of this printer. It seems that yellow is clearly going to run out before the other colors. Makes me wonder if the same is true with my HP... I assume more yellow is used for the light shading of my photos. My HP is purely for text and school presentations so I don't know if the ink use is the same.

Overall, it's a capable printer. Canon has just about got the perfect printer - but for now, I will keep my HPs as well. Perhaps my expectations were too high, I don't know. I'm very picky, especially with text. My HPs were equal to, if not better than laser printers in that regard.

Just for reference, my other HP printers are a DeskJet 930c and Photosmart 7350 - for those HP fans looking for something new. I don't know if this is THE one to buy.

One important thing to note about photos - the longevity of these pictures is about 1/3 of HP. I noticed my Canon pictures (from another Canon) starting to fade after a few weeks. My HP prints remain perfectly fine after one year. I've read similar comments on printer review sites such as tomshardware.com.

Summary: Great printers, consumes ink quickly
Review: I've had a canon 500 series for a while and its a very solid printer. Not a speedster at all, but the print quality is great, reliability has been perfect, and software support is very solid (e.g., t-shirt transfers which need to be inverted were included via one choice in print setup).

The issue with this (and probably other color inkjets) is that the price is very misleading. It's the cost of ink that will really be the cost, they run out pretty quickly, and the replacement cartridges are very expensive. If you don't mind that aspect, its a great printer.

Summary: Prints from multiple PCs out of the box
Review: Great printer and trivial to setup. I connected it to an older PC that had a parallel port and to my newer PC using a USB port. To my surprise, the printer handles both PCs without having to mess with cable swapping (I did not try sending files simultaneously). This printer has saved me the cost of a second printer (although I just might buy one for work)

Summary: Best Printer Ever, Cheap Too!!!
Review: This printer is fantastic. I haven't even had it for 24 hours, it prints amazing photos, they truly look like they were printed by a photo shop. I read this in reviews but was somewhat skeptical. If you buy this printer you will feel very smart about your purchase. I considered many more expensive models by Epson, HP, etc. before purchasing the i560, I saved $150+/- and it prints gorgeous 4" x 6" borderless prints in less than 30 seconds, the canon paper is reasonable in price and perfect for the job,ink use seems efficient and set up is child's play. Five stars for sure.

Summary: Economical to use
Review: I bought this printer back in October of 2003. So far, this Canon has proven itself to be very fast, reliable, and economical. There is an option to use "draft" mode for the purpose of conserving ink. This is a great feature to have if you print a lot of text, like I do. The black ink cartridge is also relatively inexpensive. I bought this particular printer because I print a lot of text. My main criteria was keeping the cost per page as low as possible. I rarely print photos, but the few that I have printed on Canon's paper looked very nice.

I like the design of the printer. You can fold the paper holder in the back forward and it will act as a dust cover to keep the inside of the printer clean. You can also close the front of the printer as an added measure to keep the inside free of dust. The i560 is a little bit more expensive than comparable printers from other brands. However, I believe that the lower cost per page will more than make up for it in the long run. There are individual ink cartridges. And the ink cartridges do not have a smart chip built into them. It might be possible, although I have not tried it, to refill the cartridges yourself if you can find the right ink. However, I think the cost of the ink cartridges for this particular printer is low enough that I would recommend buying only the genuine Canon ink, that way you can eliminate most of the problems that people experience with generic or refilled ink cartridges. I was told that a lot of problems that people have with their ink jets are due to using generic or refilled ink cartridges.

Summary: Perfect for home printing !!
Review: Awesome ! Just bought this and printed a few 4x6 borderless pics on Canon PhotoPlus glossy papers that came with it as samples and the result is unbelievable for a $85 printer !! It's fast. And the inks are not at all expensive. ~$11 per tank. Nice !! Very happy with it !

Summary: love this
Review: I love this printer. The picture quality is amazing. I was debating over whether to buy the next better printer, but I can't imagine it could be better than this one. Skin tones come out looking great. The photo printing isn't that fast but plenty fast for me. The text printing also looks great, very precise. Having separate cartiages is an added bonus. This printer is much better than any HP I have seen. I have found no problems so far!! I would recommend this printer to anyone looking to print amazing pictures and nice text.

Summary: Prints Photos just like Kodak
Review: I recently purchased this printer and have been totally pleased with it's quality of printing - especially photos. It is smaller than my old printer but does more. I have been a Canon customer for many years and this printer by far beats them all.

Summary: Excellent quality for the price
Review: I purchased the Canon i560s a few months back. I have been very happy with the print quality and ink useage. Canon ink seems to be much more reasonably priced for the number of pages you get.

Pros:
Great price
Excellent print quality
Affordable ink supplies
Color ink comes in 3 separate cartridges so you only have to replace the one that is low.
i560s came with excellent software tools

Cons:
Not the coolest looking printer on the block

Otherwise, this is a great deal for the price!
