Summary: Good Printer
Review: This is a very good and easy to use printer. Has Fax, printing, scanning and copys all in one. Pictures turn out nice and very nice quality and look to it. Got this in April 2003 and still works well. Highly Recomended. 4 stars- It is pricey though.

Summary: quit after one year
Review: I liked the printer until it quit after a year and two months it shut off and it wouldn't come back on. I called hp and they told me to get it fixed, but when I called to get it fixed I was told that it was considered disposable and it would cost more to fix it than it was worth. I called hp 5 more times just to be told that there was nothing they would do to help me since my warranty was up, even though it was only up by two months. I now own a three hundred dollar plastic paper weight.

Summary: never again!
Review: we have had so many problems with this printer....and their product support is awful...we continually have to shut down our whole system in order for the printer to work...then after minutes it won't print, we downloaded a new driver, took 8 hours to download, thought that would solve the problem....not on your life!!!!
never again will we buy another hp....

Summary: Major Installation Issues, Incompetent HP Support
Review: First of all, I am not a novice with computers, and I have never had a major installation issue with any peripheral until this one. I have the latest version of Internet Explorer including all updates, WindowsME with all critical updates installed including the latest Windows Installer, I have a 1.2 processor, 384 RAM, and an 80GB hard drive...much more than HP says is needed to successfully install this product. I followed the directions to the letter, and the product seemed to install perfectly. At the end of the installation, there is a prompt to reboot. After the restart, the Fax Setup Wizard is supposed to appear and then a congratulations on the successful installation of the product. However, no matter how many times I installed (after uninstalling), the final part of the installation does not take place. Please Note: There is no option to cancel the installation during the process. Also Note: To uninstall, you must go through Add/Remove Programs AND a DOS uninstall utility. If you do not, you will leave large, useless files on your hard drive. Anyway, HP referred me to Compaq who referred me back to HP.(Interesting that HP and Compaq merged, but are maintained totally separately). Compaq charged me $30, even though my HP is still under warranty, they wouldn't talk to me without a credit card number. After days and days of HP "Support" (I hate to call it that), I have had to reformat my hard drive because after so many attempts at installing and uninstalling, my OS became unstable. HP sent me a replacement and had me send my product in for "repair". The replacement did not come with replacement software and I had exactly the same problem with the installation. HP sent me an updated install disc. Guess what? Same problem. The error messages that I get are not even listed on their web site even though if I use Google or Yahoo I see complaints for the error messages associated with this HP product. This is my first and last HP. Thank goodness I purchased a two-year warranty. I plan to return it asap. I am by no means an expert with peripherals, but I have installed various pieces of hardware including hard drives, modems, sound cards, etc. over the years and have experience with over 100 software titles. I have never had a serious glitch in installing software until now. This product seems like it would have been a great peripheral. I thought I was buying a pretty decent name as HP has been around for a long time. If you have any other choice in all-in-onces that you are considering, almost anything is likely to work better than this product...at least the support will probably be better.

Summary: Great Printer For Photos - Other Functions Lack Speed..
Review: This printer prints wonderful photos and the proof sheet option is very useful! I must say I no longer need to go to the photo shop for any printing or editing of my digital pictures! Got Copy?...Set up to make a copy is quite simple...If you need your copy in a hurry..don't bother with this printer..You will spend more time waiting than copying. I replaced my HP flatbed scanner with this unit and am wishing I still had my scanner with the copy feature..Needs improvement!

Summary: Check the model #. Is it also a fax machine?
Review: I think the reviewer mentioning the Walmart price of one hundred and something did not notice that the printer advertised is the 2210 without the fax function. I almost did not catch this myself. If that is not the case. Nevermind. Now, I must say, the 2210v is a great printer, a great fax machine, and a pretty good scanner. That is all.

Summary: I like mine
Review: I'm running windows 98, and i'm not having any problems with it at all. The only thing I found out is that you can buy one at WalMart for $129.00. Yes it's true. It was $148.88.

Summary: Low end computers beware
Review: I am running a Dell XPS T450 at 450 MHz with 96Mb RAM (which meets the minimum requirements, although the software did alert me that my level of RAM was not enough for optimal performance) and Windows 98.

The software kept freezing at 81% during installation which prompted a call to HP support. After a very very long call, a FedEx'ed CD from HP with new software and some Google searches, I found out that this is not uncommon among users with low end or old computers. The installation never really finishes. All I could do was force quit the installation application and restart the computer.

Most functions worked -- the scanner scanned to the computer, the memory card bays in the front loaded to the computer and I could erase memory cards while in the bays from the computer. The copier and fax machines worked well, but they are not routed through the CPU to function. All that did not work was the print function, which is still the most important function.

The software is a little primative as well.

The print quality was very good, especially when printing onto photo paper, and the option to print directly from memory cards is fantastic.

If it wasn't for the installation issues, I would definately keep this machine.

Summary: Hobbled by horrid software
Review: Watch out, this unit comes with > 160 MB of software. What are the odds of that working reliably? Besides having a poorly integrated interface, the software doesn't work reliably under Windows. I've had to uninstall/reinstall all the software a couple of times, swap USB ports, power everything off and back on. And this is just to print a sheet of paper!

I would recommend sticking with a simpler printer with simple, well-integrated software.

Summary: Great Quality for the price
Review: Using for copying only. Execellent for BW copying. Great for color copying but too slow. For 5 or 6 color copies its fine. I am amazed at the quality this machine produces copying color prints. I have taken standard 4x6 prints and enlarged to 8x10. It is nearly impossible at times to tell which is a copy and which is a original. It helps to start with a good quality original.
