Description:

The Microtek 5700 USB scanner features 1,200 dpi optical resolution and 42-bit sample depth while offering both FireWire and USB connections to PC and Macintosh computers. The Microtek 5700 is equipped with a built-in 5-by-4-inch FilmView light lid, which provides a light source for scanning both reflective and transparent media with an exceptional level of quality. The FilmView light lid serves not only as a transparent-media adapter but also as a film or slide previewer. The 5700 comes with five one-touch buttons for auto-launching scan operation and both one-step OCR (optical character recognition) and e-community photo sharing.

The 1,200 dpi optical system design enables the Microtek 5700 to capture sharp and detailed images for professional-quality brochures, Web pages, and promotional materials. With a built-in 14-bit analog-to-digital converter, Microtek 5700 converts originals into high-fidelity digital images, dispensing and delivering full 42-bit color depth images with richer and smoother tonal color. Incorporated with Microtek's Dynamic Color Rendition technology, the 5700 reduces the captured 42-bit color data to optimize the result. This process conveys more vivid color and significantly minimizes editing efforts when captured images are further processed with a separate image software package.

The Microtek 5700 offers both the FireWire (IEEE 1394) and USB connections, compatible with both PC and Macintosh computers. The scanner is also outfitted with a built-in JPEG compression engine that reduces the image storage size to minimum. With the JPEG compression technology, this scanner is able to scan high-resolution images faster than conventional scanners.
