Summary: Not reliable
Review: Not a reliable scanner. I've had this one for almost one month before I returned it to amazon. It has nenver been able to scane more than 10 pages of documents continuously without quiting on me. It just puts out either a black page (gray-scale scan) or a colored pure-noise page (color scan)disregarding what you feed into, followed by various error messages. I have reinstalled the driver for several times, but the problem resists. I use PHOTOSHOP 7.0 and the sanner's twain driver. So could be an imcompatible issue with Photoshop 7.0.

Summary: Amazing for the price
Review: I am a price concious consumer when it comes to my computer equipment and this item has blown me away. The color fidelity for Color and Black & White negative scanning this is the best I have seen for scanners in this price range. 8.5x11 Platen scanning is equally as impressive, the installation was quick and easy and USB 2.0 makes overall speed more than satisfying in comparrison to other products. I would highly recommend this product for its film scanning abilities alone and doubly recommend this item for its great overall quality and value.

Summary: Is your USB 2.0 card compatible?
Review: My only complaint is that I spent several hours trying to get this scanner to work until I realized it is simply not compatible with my ADStech USB 2.0 card. BE CAREFUL if your USB 2.0 card is NOT from Adaptec or Intel -- you may have compatibility problems like I did. Other than this, the scanner is pretty good.

Summary: Canon CanonScan D1250U2F USB Flatbed Scanner
Review: The scanner is really great, i love how you can be able to scan a negative photograph, both black and white and color. Of course we all no that a normal color photo takes longer to scan than a normal black and white photo, but with this scanner color photos get scanned faster than any scanner you have ever had in the past. The scanner also gives you the ability to scan up to 2400 dpi resolution if i remember corectly. The scanner comes with software on the installation cd that will set you up if you don't already have any, and even if you do, i would encourage you to uninstall that software and use the one that comes with your cannon canscan scanner. The scanner connects via USB which makes data transfer faster and the ease of use. I gave it 4 stars because i only have one problem with it and this works for all scanners too. Its hard to get the scanner glass completely 100% clean. But I highly recommend this product to everyone!

Summary: good price but could be faster
Review: Where is the fourth EZ button? Probably meant to add on off switch and forgot. This is not as fast as has been described. Using USB 2.0 and average resolution still sitting and waiting for scan to finish 20 to 40 seconds.

Summary: Great scanner, slow pre-scan.
Review: Just as almost everyone has said here, the scan quality is great although the negatives scanning is a little odd. The pre-scan or lamp warmup takes way too long (longer than the scan itself).

Summary: What a great scanner!
Review: I needed to replace my old UMAX scanner that had developed some type of condensation/fogging inside the glass that was showing up on my scans. Also, this Canon scanner comes with a slide/negative scanner which my old scanner did not have. This scanner blazes using USB 1.1 compared to my old parallel port scanner and its software bundle is better too. It has handy buttons on the front for emailing, copying, or scanning photos that you can adjust for output type and location. The true joy of this scanner has been scanning slides I took years ago. I am scanning them at 1200 dpi and they are coming out beautiful. The Adobe Photoshop Elements is easy to use for tweaking. Wonderful product at a great price!!

Summary: Wonderful after a rough start
Review: ... The price on my scanner(D1250U2) was too good to pass up. When it came to installation, my husband nearly tossed the unit .... We used the "front door" USB connector site, and our new [computer]absolutely refused to recognize the scanner, no matter what we tried. We replugged it in the rear and got the same result. ...the good guys at Canon spent about 1-1/2 hrs. on the phone with my husband to rectify the problem. It all revolved around the initial attempt to plug the scanner into the front of the box -- it took a long time to figure out that this had created the problem. Then it had to be "uninstalled" and reinstalled again using the rear access. A lesson learned --use the rear port for something like this!

Subsequent to that problem and the surge in my husband's blood pressure, we have found the scanner to be a wonderful, creative addition to collection of electronic tools. We're not "techies", obviously, but we're having a great time e-mailing scanned photos and using them to make personalized, meaningful greeting cards for family and friends. Linking up the photos to programs like Picture It and Print Master has been fun, and everyone is thrilled to see old or new photos of themselves incorporated into birthday, anniversary, and thank you cards made especially for them. I've nearly recovered the cost of the scanner already with my savings on store-bought cards. This is a great product and loads of fun to use. Thanks amazon.com for making it so affordable!

Summary: It works for me
Review: I did a bit of research, reviewed the opinions here on Amazon[.com] & bought this scanner. I wanted to scan photos and slides/negatives to put on web sites. I'm a little old lady with not a lot of tech expertise, so I need something simple. I got it. The price was right, I ordered on a Thursday, it arrived the next Tuesday, it took less than an hour to set up hardware, software and scan a photo and a 35mm negative, and the results were very satisfactory. What's not to love about this deal? Maybe if you're a high-end user it won't meet your needs, but for those of us who are tech-challenged and still want to have fun in the playground, this is great.
I'm using WinXP Home without the USB 2.0 feature and it's still faster than my old Win 98 scanner, so I'm tickled.
