Microtek SlimScan C6 USB Flatbed Scanner

Summary: Go ahead and get it already!
Review: I comparison shopped in stores and on the net quite a bit,checking out several product reviews. Basically, I wanted to add aflatbed scanner to my setup (which includes an all in one printer with sheet feed scanner) to save photos and to scan from books, etc. that can't go through a sheetfeed. I didn't want to spend alot of money, I needed somthing small to fit in my computer cabinet, and I didn't want a slow piece of junk. I bought a Microtek SlimScan C6 (USB) via Amazon.com. I had no problems with installation and was using my scanner in about 20 minutes. Software includes Adobe and Photo Impact for editing photos and Photo Impact Album for keeping track of them. I have 18 years computer experience but don't work in the computer field. Enjoyed the Amazon experience (my first) too.

Review: I format my HDD from time to time, but I never had any problem installing the scanner ...even using it. For the price, it is a bargain. Picture quality is good, and I even bought the the device on-line.

Review: If the author of the above blurb would indicate the I/F (USB, parallel or SCSI) that this thing uses it would sure help making a purchase decision!

Summary: Quality Scanner, not so easy set-up
Review: Installing the software is not necessarily easy. After going through installation, my Windows 98 machine locked up upon re-boot. If you e-mail or call Microtek support they will inform you how to get past this. Support is great, and product is excellent, once it's configured properly.

Summary: Slim Scan C6
Review: My Slim Scan came pre programed but never worked. Windows kept telling me it is not hooked up. Also no inside light or manuals. I was sent another one which also has no inside light, a broken hinge on the door and again my computer tells me it is not connected. I give up I am buying another type of scanner. The c6 does not work for me.

Review: the software is great! we cannot get the drivers to load properly, and the scanner itself doesn't work. it does look pretty good though.

Summary: Requirements
Review: The system requirements before this was ordered indicated the scanner could be used with Windows 95. Upon receiving the scanner as a gift(ordered thru Amazon) there are no instructions for loading to Windows 95. The outside of the box says Window 98 is a minimum requirement. The scanner seems like it would be a great product. I wish I could use it.
