Rating: Summary: Clumsy Interface Review: I recently bought the hp scanjet 3570c to work with my OS X Mac only because my old scanner was no longer combatable with the new operating system. I have been less than pleased with the performance of my scanner. The interface is clumsy, and I feel that I have much less control over scanning preferences (i.e., descreening options) than I use to with my last scanner. The one button scanning never seems to work right. Spend a little more and get something that is going to work well.
Rating: Summary: A depressing let down Review: I was very excited to get this scanner, because of the promised quality of scan and the ability to scan negatives and slides. I am in the marketing field, and use the scanner to acquire product images from technical catalogues to put into mock-ups for advertisements. I'm no graphics expert, just a self-taught desk top publisher user. The actual performance was a great disappointment, and I would only recommend this model to people who need an economical scanner for occasional use. For starters, it's not very easy to use until you've practiced a bit, and it's d-e-a-d s-l-o-w. You push the scan button, and then sit there and wait an eternity while it tells you that it's "warming up the lamp". When you finally get your scan, you find that all your white space has been cropped automatically, and sometimes bits of your subject have also disappeared. If you don't put a sheet of heavy white paper behind it, you also get the image of the negative and slide holder, and most peculiarly, a yellow line appears from nowhere and shows right through your image. It's definitely not a high quality scanner, and not suitable for graphics work. Strictly a hobby scanner which will look quite impressive next to your desk. The two stars are for the appearance and the price.
Rating: Summary: Don't try this with a Mac Review: I'm sure the scanner is fine if you can get the accompanying software to work. It's supposed to work with a Mac, but it didn't work for me. I was able to scan two photos, but after that it crashed my computer every time I tried to use it. It went back for a refund.
Rating: Summary: Taking it back to the store, software is a joke Review: I've had this product for a days and it scans ok but it is unacceptable in other ways. - Most importantly, when I press scan the software chugs away for 30 seconds before a dialog comes up. On further investigation, the software supplied is an amazing piece of bloatware. - The installation software sits there and chugs looking for DLLs for 15 minutes. - The installed software takes up an unbelievable 4Gb - It looks quite good but the button have little pictures but no text. How is a computer novice supposed to know what each button does? - The quality of the scanned image wasn't very good. I invetigated further and tried using the standard microsoft scanning software. For some reason the scanned pictures came out much better. Confirmed my suspicions about the software.

Rating: Summary: Keep it simple. Review: Iwould like to say that after purchasing this scanner I was happy to find that it was indeed very simple to set up and use. I started scanning within an hour after unpacking it and encountered absolutely no problems with it at all. Also the HP scanning software that comes with it is incredibly nice with the added addition of being able to connect online and transmit your photos with the HP Photo Scanning Web site make sharing your photos fun. The scanner has worked flawlessly from the start and at the price I think you cannot beat it for value. You will have the chance to print Text, Documents, Photos, 35mm film, Slides, and 3D objects. It is my first scanner and as I have said it is very easy to use. A true prize!
Rating: Summary: Best scanner I have ever owned, but has software glitch. Review: So far, this is a great scanner. It has easy to use software, and it is really fast and quiet. The built in slide scanner works great - the easiest scanner I have had to scan slides. However - there are bugs in the software that keep the buttons from working. I have Windows XP, and it recognizes when the buttons are pressed, but the software does nothing. I called HP support and they said that it is a known problem and there will be a fix. When that fix comes out and the buttons work, I will give this 5 stars...
Rating: Summary: HP scanjet 3570 C Scanner Review: This is one of the better scanners I have ever used. In all normalcy I would have rated it at four stars, but with the support I have experienced from HP support, Its worth another star in the rating. Most of my peripherals are HP, and that is because of fine support they give, and the short period of time it takes to get it. My last scanner was mfg. by Plustek, and I would not recommend it to anyone. If you need support on Plustek, you may as well forget it, unless you want to spend all your time on the phone calling Japan, China or Europe. Thank you. John Clausen
Rating: Summary: Short and Sweet Review: This is the first scanner that I bought. And overall I am pleased with my purchase. The qualtity of photographic scans, considering the cost of the product, is very good. When it comes to installing software or peripherials, I don't like things that are complicated...who does? I have to say that I easily intstalled and started scanning withing minutes. Believe me I am no computer whiz. I still have to figure out how to use the buttons on the scanner. Overall opinion of this product is good quality and nice price.
Rating: Summary: Be careful and keep your receipts Review: This scanner crapped out after about 2 weeks of scanning. It starting scanning everything as solid yellow or red. HP support confirmed the scanner died. I got the scanner as a gift so I didn't have a receipt and even though HP new it was under warranty based on the serial number, they still required a receipt. Luckily, it was bought on Amazon and the person giving it to me printed off the order confirmation. Customer service with HP is still a hassle so I would avoid HP products if at all possible.
