Summary: Shockingly poor quality
Review: I bought this printer lured by the price and the all-in-one feature. Since the beggining I had problems with printouts suddendly stopping without apparent reason. A call to HP support made me by a AC powered USB 4 port (according to them laptops don't send enough power to the printer...). 20 dollars to the trash, because the printer still has the problem. The printing quality is not bad for the price, although it CAN'T handle heavy paper (50% of your photo papers will print ruined). The scanner is ok for the price too. The copier function, and actually everything related to the software is lousy, bulky, and chances are it will at least slow down your system (or even crash it). Actually, I think the whole problem with the printer is the soft...
This is my first HP, a couple of years ago I had a small printing company and used similarly priced printers from other brands for HEAVY (and I mean it, 2000+ prints a day) printing and never had this kind of problems. This printer seems so brittle that I doubt it could handle that load.

Summary: You Get What You Pay For!
Review: I bought the HP PSC 1210 because my HP PSC 750 with 2400*1200 dpi (which I LOVED TO DEATH) broke. I tried to have it repaired, sent it to HP, and for TRIPLE THE COST OF WHAT I PAID they would fix it ($700!). So instead I opted to just buy a new one, this 1210v which claims it can print 4800*1200, and for the low price of $100.

Even when it was fresh out of the package the 1210 DID NOT live up to the quality of my old one, let alone exceed it as its specs promised. It took forever to print photos, and the end result was not what I was hoping for... you can definitely tell that you are looking at pictures printed at home, even with the 4800*1200 optimized dpi selected (the highest quality you can choose to print with). For the average person looking to print amateur family works of art, this is a last resort in my opinion. I think this printer is more aimed at high school/college students who need to complete their reports, and such.

My sons' toddler friend pulled a paper out of the feed once and now this one is broken as well. The symptoms: Just printing documents of presentable quality is a random thing. Pictures are skewed and striped with the worst color quality I've ever seen, everything comes out at a slant and the borders are rippled or wavy... it's almost funny! Not to mention the constant clicking and halting at the end of every page that I try to print. Ridiculously, now in order to print anything at all I have to press the resume button after EACH page.

One year after buying the 1210 and I'm gonna skip the $700 repair fees, throw this one in the garbage, and buy an Epson. You get what you pay for!

Summary: Good for copying and scanning. But...
Review: I used two other printers one from HP Deskjet 842c and another from Lexmark. In this printer/scanner/copier,Copying and Scanning functions are good. Scanning Software is good. Color print quality is also good compared to my previous printers. But, I mostly need black & white prints. Here, to take black & white prints, we have to remove the color catridge and change a software setting. Otherwise I have to use the expensive color catridge as opposed to cheaper black & white catridge. The additional software is good. But printer driver features is not great.
For printing, I am going to use my old HP Deskjet 842c printer. With this printer, I can switch between Black & White and Color print options very easily and I can print both sides.

Summary: Easy to install!!
Review: I don't know much about anything computer related, but I needed a new printer. After reading amazon's review of this machine I got one at Costco(USB cable included here) for $86.00. I approached it with trepidation, but I inslalled it myself in 15 minutes, and so far it is a gem. I don't know how long the ink will last, but I have my fingers crossed.

Summary: Very Convenient
Review: This is a great product. It prints great pictures. The Ink Cartridges have lasted long for me. It is small so it fits in tight spaces. The Scannner is not top of the line, its a 36 bit, but I already have one that is 48 bit which I use to scan, so I don't really need this feauture, but 36 bit scanner is good. What I liked the most is that you can use it as a stand alone copy machine, so you don't need to turn on your computer and scan your documents and then send them to print, and even if you got the copy option in your scanner in order to print it you need the computer to be on, but with this baby it doesn't matter if the computer is one just turn on your 3 in 1 and get your copy in seconds instead of minutes.

Summary: Very convenient
Review: I got this machine because the last printer I had had three different ink outlets, but all in the same cartridge, so when I ran out of one of the three colors, I had to buy a whole new cartridge and waste what remained of the other two. It was bigger than what my desk could hold. So I decided to go with a printer which used HP 56 and HP 57 Ink Cartridges, which last long at my office, where there is a whole lot of printing daily. Then I saw this on a very good special that included a 20 dollar rebate, so I got it.
Although the scanner is not as good as the 48 bit I own (this one has a 36 bit) the printing is very, very good. Pictures print very good on third party paper, even on store brand paper, as long as you set your machine and printing preferences to photo paper and best printing. It is a bit faster than the one I used to Have.
Best of all I can use it as a stand alone copy machine. Before I had to turn on my computer and send the documents to the printer, through the computer, which took only to turn on the computer about 2 minutes. So this feature is very handy.
Until today no complaints, excellent machine. By the way this baby is smaller than my former printer, so it sits nicely on my computer desk.

Review: (For technical information, see the "editorial review" above)

For a little more than $100, you definitely get more than you pay for with the HP PSC 1210. The copying, printing and scanning functions are all serviceable, and that alone should be worth the purchase price. If you plan on using this product for personal use or a home office that doesn't require too much printing, this printer is a quantum leap from the ho-hum world of desk jets.

However, you do get what you pay for in some respects. While all the functions of the printer are at least adequate, there are no areas (aside from sheer flexibility) where it really shines. The HP 1210 prints with about average clarity and acceptable (though hardly lightening) speed. The printer is also subject to periodic paper jams. The scanning function and affiliated software work realy well in terms of quality, but it's slow and not always the most user-friendly. The copier function is limited in that the copier is extremely slow and there is little room surrounding the copying area, making copying out of a hardbound book, for example, very difficult. However, the copier is a wonderful time-saver when you need to make one or two quick copies, and it can operate when your computer is off or busy with something else.

So, if you don't have a lot of money and you're looking for a multifunction printer, this is a great way to get in the game. It will enable you to do a lot of things, but you'll probably still have some of those hair-pulling "stupid printer" moments. If you're willing to spend a little more, or you're going to ask for a lot from your printer, it's probably worth your while to spend a little more on something better.

Summary: Small Printer with a BIG HEART
Review: This printer is worth every penny. Nicely designed to fit into a small area. The scanner produces better quality images than my $600 office scanner. Small Printer with a big Printer heart. BRAVO HP for a great product. BRAVO AMAZON for selling it for such a great price.

Summary: Feature Loaded, HP Quality, Unbeatable Price
Review: If you are a home user that does a moderate amount of printing and would like to have both printing and scanning ability, this printer is a great choice. It will scan, copy, and print with very good print quality. It will function as a stand-alone copy machine that will copy in both black & white and color. The user-friendly software adds more functionality allowing you to do tasks such as color adjustments, enlargements, cropping, darkening, etc. It was a good purchase. I am very pleased with mine.

Summary: Great Multi-function...one flaw.
Review: I own my own business and purchased the 1210xi model for office use. The printer is wonderful...fast, clean text, etc. However, it does not support printing Business Card paper.
