Rating: Summary: avoid this model! Review: I had a 2410 all-in-one at home and since I'd heard 6110 is the more suitable version for office applications, I purchased a 6110 all-in-one for my office. The experience was no different than a disaster.
First of all, the printer wouldn't feed the paper correctly such that all lines were printed at a large angle with the paper! We had to make our own modifications and with trial and error we finally found the proper cardboard thickness to be glued to the edge to improve the situation.
To fax several pages one is given the option to either load originals on the glass or use the ADF (automatic document feeder) feature. Unlike in 2410s where you don't have the ADF feature yet are able to scan several pages from the glass to the printer's memory, then connect and send all pages; on 6110s you cannot scan from the glass to the memory. All you can do with the "glass" option is to first dial, then scan a single page, and then fax that single page. The ADF feature, on the other hand, will not let you fax double-sided papers. The smart ADF doesn't let you add extra papers once it has started feeding them in. This means that you are not even given the chance to load one side of the paper hoping that you'll load the other side once it has been processed by the printer. Believe it or not, this means that to fax a double-sided paper you need to copy one side to a different paper and then fax both pages with the ADF.
The menu is also another awful feature of the printer, which is amazingly user-unfriendly. Unlike on 2410s, you have a hard time selecting your desired option from the menu, since after a few seconds (that is, 1-3 seconds) the sub-menu jumps back to the main menu. Worse is the case when you don't want to select an option and it does it automatically for you. This happens quite often when you're searching through the options and it automatically sets the paper settings to the default without your approval.
As far as I have experienced, the only advantage in 6110 (compared to 2410) is the ADF feature but there are many many problems associated with this model that make it a quite unpleasant experience.
Rating: Summary: Deservedly Discontinued - There Should Be a Recall Review: The worst HP Printer I have ever owned. Mechanically nice, but what good is that when the software is so poorly written that every print job is an adventure?
You may find that a perfectly routine print job simply stops printing, forcing you to go into the print menu and restart the printer. Or that your grayscale presets have changed to color. (When I complained to HP about this, they said it was a known issue but they had no useful solution.) I have had the printer for about a year at least, have upgraded the software and used it many times -- I see no improvement. It's as buggy as it was on the day I got it.
Do not buy this printer, even used. Do not accept it as a gift either, unless you have endless amounts of free time and don't have anything important to do with your life.
Rating: Summary: Love / Hate Relationship Review: I love this machine. I have 2 of them, one at work - one at home.
The home one has never scanned properly. It will not scan from the flat bed. It always tries to read from the paper feeder on top. I have a lot of scanning I'd like to do but I'm not putting precious one-of-a-kind photos through a mechanical feeder.
The one at work has always worked wonderfully for my purposes - scanning, color printing & duplication, small job reproduction, and mailing lists. We print on everything from envelopes and vellum transparencies to heavy card stock. But I am the only user and I am aware that it likes gentle treatment. Still, I get a lot of quality work done on it. The color quality is exceptional in my opinion. Considering it only cost us $250, it's definitely a keeper (we're an academic department, higher education level).
To me the 1st flaw with the machine is the touchiness of the delicate technology. The 2nd is that it costs a lot to run if you're going to do a lot of printing. Toner is high (though typical) but cartridge life is low.
I would not do without mine and will buy another one when this one dies if they & their consumables are being sold. I just wish the cost of the toner would come down.

Rating: Summary: Do Not Buy This Printer! Review: I have had problem after problem with the HP 6110 All-In-One.
It started with the paper jamming and eventually it stopped printing alltogether because it "claims" that its out of paper. Another great example of poorly engineered American electronics. THIS PRINTER IS PATHETIC!
Rating: Summary: Out of warranty - coincidence? Review: IIs it really a coincidence that so many hp 6110 and 7110 machines fail a few months out of warranty?
I was happy with my 6110 until the 14th month, when it sat down and refused to move. A "warming up " message would come on, and stay on - permanently. this blocked all functions, and any inbound faxes were refused as the machine "thought" it had a power failure. Restarting the machine between 6 and 12 times would free it up until the next time it froze again.
All the remedies suggested on the website were tried (full reset, part reset, plugging it in to the cat) to no avail. The firmware download was useless.
Web help sent a week's worth of useless e-mails and did not seem capable of believing that the machine was really plugged in to the wall, and not a power strip. They washed their hands of me without answering any question directly and then supplied two consecutive invalid numbers to call.
I have subsequently learned that the machine is terminally defective, and is not repairable. It seems hp have known about this machine fault for some time. This is apparently due to a sensor which will not detect the scanner bulb correctly and shuts off all functions. The machine has done 4500 pages in 14 months against the hp rating of 3000 pages per month.
I am surprised that a company of this reputation should be producing sub-standard machinery. Their website is testimony to the trouble that can occur.
If you are going to buy one, say a quiet prayer first. You have a more than outside chance of getting one with a built-in death wish. If you get that far, and need to use support, give yourself a fortnight, and wear soft shoes, because you will end up wanting to kick the dog or any other poor creature within reach.
Rating: Summary: Same as the rest ok till a jam Review: Worked ok till fax feeder jamed. 1 week trying to fix it will probably give up on it.
Rating: Summary: The Quick-Buck Banditos strike again Review: This thing is OK when it works, but like all the other items offered by the mega-conglomerated PC devices and systems giants, it is obviously a shining example of how marketing triumphs over all corner-cutting and lack of support. I have just about had it with the likes of Compaq, HP, and of course Ledd. Er, I mean Dell. The "sell em and leave em" attitude is just too much for me to bear anymore. This machine is just that. Like other HP computer products and systems I have known over the last several years, it has so many corners cut that it is nearly round. I suppose the price reflects this, but people should see that mainly you still get what you pay for. A PC for $299 is not a powerful workstation, and an All in One printer/scanner/fax for under $200 here is not a professional office quality machine, either.
Rating: Summary: Decent Machine; Absurd "Service" Review: I got this machine in February, '04, and registered it at the HP web site. I just called HP about maybe getting an extended warranty...They told me their records showed I got the machine in 2002. This machine was not even in existence in 2002! This is typical of HP. Another time I purchased a PC and an extended warranty from them. Later, when I called them to use the warranty, they could not find any record of my having the warranty. (They finally did find it...after some days.)
I own several HP products, and have registered all of them on-line at the HP site. But I just spoke to customer service, and the woman I talked to said her records do not match up at all with the record of my purchases on the HP site. She is showing me as having bought this printer, and a PC, before they were ever made! Also, and get this, she was not even aware that HP had an on-line database of customer registrations, but when I made her aware of it, she would not even recognize my record of registrations that is on it. What is even more crazy, is that HP had two different files on me, with somewhat different registration dates. She told me they might have gotten some info. mixed up with another customer!!??? (But she was not willing to change anything unless I could send her receipts.)
Now my machine keeps telling me I am low on black ink, even after I put in a new cartridge. And the feeder tray falls off if you barely bump it at all. I had the d135--a forerunner of this machine--for about a year, and then it just stopped printing. (It was just barely out of warranty.) Fortunately, this machine prints and faxes okay, so far, but I have not had it for quite a year yet...
Warning: If you deal with HP, save all receipts and other relevant data; their record keeping is insane!
Rating: Summary: Great product...for a little over 1 year Review: Same as many other reviews. This all-in-one worked great until one day the dreaded "carrier jam" appeared. Seems that many owners experience this total melt down with this printer.
It should be called an all-OR-NONE, since it will not print, scan, fax or copy.
