Summary: Scanner disappointing
Review: I installed it on Windows XP pro. It's an OK printer/fax, but I am very disappointed with the scanner. I use the scanner a lot just to move multi-page documents off my desk. The scanner is rater slow. For some unexplainable reason the scanning element moves to the home position to the page feeder scan position (the position it needs to be to scan from the feeder) and back ON EVERY PAGE. The scanning software provided by HP (HP photo Imaging and HP director combined programs) is very hard and slow to use. I much prefer Microsoft Office Document Scanning, but it fails with the HP scanner and only half of each letter sized page is scanned (I have played with the configurations to try to fix it). With Microsoft Office document scanning the scanning element moves even more back and forth. To solve the Microsoft Office Document scanning problem HP customer support only suggested to reinstall the software (I did it a few times, no improvement) and eventually suggested that I should not use Microsoft Office Document Scanning! I like the multi-page tiff format, for some unexplainable reason that format is not available from the "scan" button on the machine or in the scanning software menus. Somehow HP photo Imaging still let's you save files in the .tiff format from the menu (but from the menu no other familiar format e.g. gif, jpeg, Acrobat ... are available!!). The familiar formats are only available by configuring the hardware scan button. Note that the scanning lamp is always on (why?) and the printing head is noisy when the machine is powered up (cleaning itself??). The paper supply is small and the last page is always printed on top (so you have to reorder you documents unless you print the first page last). All in all it's disappointing.

Summary: Owned it for an hour and I love it
Review: I have a Dell PC running Windows XP and had zero problems installing this. Took about 20 minutes. I was upgrading from a cheapo Canon S300 that decided to stop working yesterday, and this is really my first experience with a modern color printer that cost over $200.

I'm VERY impressed. The B&W regular document quality is outstanding, easily as good as my old HP laserjet, far better than any other inkjet I've used. The color is very good as well. I printed one photo, just to test it out, using HP photo paper, but using just the regular ink cartridges (WITHOUT the photo ink cartridge), and I thought the results were excellent.

Tested the copy, fax, and scanning, and everything works perfectly and was very easy to use for the first time, without once looking in the manual or reading a help file.

The rating should really be 4.5 stars. Minor quibbles that prevent it from getting the full 5: It would be nice if it came with a USB 2.0 cable, and it would be nice if the fax software integrated more with your PC, as others have said. I primarily plan to use the fax features for faxing out anyway, as I use an e-mail service to receive faxes.

But for someone like me who's self-employed and wants a good printer, fax machine, copier and scanner (in that order)for a home office, with some pretty good photo capabilities as well, this multifunction is pretty awesome.

Summary: EXCELENTE!
Review: EXCELENTE impresora. EXCELENTE COMPRA!!

Summary: VERY POOR FAX MANAGEMENT
Review: We purchased a hp 6110 and found its fax management entirely unsatisfactory.

There is no facility to manipulate broadcast transmissions. we work with various project groups, and of course set up speed dials etc for them. but if I want to send to only three of say 5 people in the group I have to set up a new group. Which is impossibly time consuming.

Our hp 590 multi function unit, which had died, did this with a beautiful pop up menu system on the PC. For some reason HP have dropped this from the 6110 software. HP's support services were nearly useless, and I spent many frustrating hours on the phone, and more than the machine cost on our IT techs time trying to sort out if we had incorrectly set it up. I am still not sure if other Hp product eg the 7130, will do what we want as I could not get a convincing answer from hp, or the retailer.

Its probably ok the occasional fax, but as an office machine I dont think acceptable. So it is going back and I am searching for an alternative.

Thanks to everyone who has posted comments (specially on alterate machines) and I hope my comments help someone else.

Summary: Great Price, Limited PC Interaction
Review: Pros:

You can't beat the price for this multi-function printer. Does a great job scanning (with options to email, imaging, word, etc.). The print quality is better than I expected (I really didn't buy it for the printer, but the other "functions"). And the Auto-document feeder is great for copying and faxing.

CONS:
*Can't Network - Only supports USB (and parallel). I wanted to connect this printer to another computer but "operate" it from another...couldn't do it (you can share the printer through the network, but you can only use the software on the connected computer).

*No Fax Software. You can't send a fax from your computer using the printer, nor can you store faxes for viewing before printing. Bummer. I get fax spammed so much, I would have loved to preview and delete if I didn't want the fax (without printing). Even my 4 year old HP all-in-one did that!

Overall a good product, but falls short of totally satisfying me. Then again, I can't argue much due to the price.

Summary: Great for home, small business and as extra in a big office
Review: We bought this printer/copier/fax/scanner as an addition to our business. I didn't expect much, as my experience with computers and peripherals is in the "throw the (...) out the window" category.

This machine is fast, intuitive, set up is a breeze (on xp). The color printer is pretty good, actually. You get nice photos on the right paper with the right (ok price) cartridge. We now only use our other photo printer for demanding very high quality images. Otherwise this one does the job on a daily basis. We also threw out our headache fax machine and for regular day to day scans, we don't need the peripheral quickie scanner at this point. And the photocopier is good, remembering its an inkjet output, not laser. Does most work-related thing ok.

Immediate noticable minuses:
Limited size of scanner (only 8-1/2x11)
Color printing is a bit slow on hi-res.

I would definitely recommend it for the smaller business or that convenient extra printer/copier/fax/scanner within a larger office or a home-working type.
Quality on all the sections doesnt match other top peripherals, as one should expect, but this machine is really a matter of convenience and at a good price (...), and it's not to bulky. Good product, I'd say.
(rev) But for a demanding graphic artist the scanner is yuckie.

Summary: Total Disappointment
Review: I have always used HP multi function products with much success, the HP 6110 is a dud ! I have had three shipped to me & spent much time & effort setting them up only to have each one fail. The fax works only sometimes & only to certain numbers. I other parts work but are very slow & the machine makes the same grinding noices that convinced me to replace my old HP 570. How I wish I had it back !

Summary: Excellent all-in-one
Review: I normally don't like all-in-one units since they seem to be jacks of all trades but masters of none. This unit, however, is one of the best I've ever used. My company has definitely put it through its paces; we use it for 100% of our faxing and photocopying needs, and we also use it was one of our primary office printers.

A lot of folks on here who have given it bad reviews are likely having computer problems. (To the fellow who complained that it doesn't work with Windows ME: that's Windows ME's fault, not HP's. ME is one of the worst versions of Windows ever. To the fellow who complained that it prints, except it jams when printing from the Internet: if a printer can print from some programs but not from others, then 99% of the time that means your computer has a problem, not the printer!)

No, it doesn't come with a USB cable... but as somebody who resells and configures printers for a living, I can tell you that a decreasing minority of printers actually come with the cables these days. Also, HP's Mac support on this printer is spotty, and don't try to use it as a standalone (IE, without a PC attached) since you need a PC to do some basic configurations (such as telling the fax machine to print faxes rather than store them in memory.)

Keep in mind that if you're buying a new printer because you're having problems with your old one, your problems might be with your computer, not with the printer! Before making any major purchase like this, it's a good idea to get your computer checked out by a shop or an IT person to make sure your computer is in good working order.

Bottom line: if you have a good, new computer running Windows XP, this is a great unit.

Summary: Rather Impressive Machine . . .
Review: This is another fine product from Hewlett Packard. It is a scaled down version of the older "d" series and the current 7100 series all-in-ones. While it is a quality machine for home office/home business applications, it is also a 3rd generation HP photo printer, like that in the current line of HP Photosmart printers.

The 6110 caters to quite a large audience. It has most of the features of the HP 2210 (it is lacking the 6-in-one memory card reader), but it has several things that its comparably priced little brother does not. It has a form feeder, which really makes faxing and copying easier. It has speed dialing capabilities, and has an 80 page fax memory.

The 6110 has the ability to scan at 1200 x 2400 d.p.i., which is on par with their top-of-the-line stand alone scanners. It can print 4X6 borderless photos, black & white at 19 p.p.m, and color at an impressive 14 p.p.m.

The only drawbacks for this machine are that it uses the #56, #57, and #58 cartridges that require swapping between the #56 & #58 for photo printing, and that the capacities of these cartridges are less than the ones used in the 7100.

Summary: HP Officejet 6110
Review: After reading other reviews and a recommendation from the salesman at Office Depot I decided to purchase this unit. I installed it today in about an hour. I have tried all the functions, send and receive faxes, scanning, printing, and copying. I am very impressed with the quality of the unit and it's output. Everything worked, even better than I expected. I am using Windows XP
