Summary: Problems From the Start
Review: After installing the player, I was unable to record a cd. Several attempts with several blanks all with the same results - no recording. The manual is also poorly written. This was bought as a gift and my father was unable to install it based on the instructions. After several hours of working with it, I was unable to perform a simple cd copy. This one will be sent back this week.

Summary: So Far Its Great
Review: Found it easy to use but you need to read the manual to use it from the start. Hitting buttons and throwing in cds won't get you a first time recording, you need to read the manual.
Sound quality is great, easy to use and construction quite ample for what it is. It not built like a tank but then again it need not be. I've played it around the clock and its works great. All the recordings came out great. In all so far its great.

Summary: AWFUL!
Review: I got this unit as a gift and I would have rather been given the German Measles. It has wasted time, money, and cds. Buy anything but this.

Summary: Works good for me!
Review: I just bought this unit a couple of days ago and so far it's great. I've recorder from all three available sources (i.e. Analog, optical digital and strait CD to CD copy), to 80 minute media, and they all sounded great on my car stereo.

The only problem I've had is that when I tried playing the copied CDs in my DVD player I got a disk read error. However my DVD player is 3+ years old, so it may just be that it's not compatible with the silver bottom Music CD media I bought.

Also it doesn't have the highest quality construction I've ever seen on a consumer electronics device (i.e. it's mostly plastic), but for what I paid for it I can't complain. :)

Summary: Gets No Easier Than This!
Review: I recently purchased the CDRW120 Version of this recorder (Pretty much the same as the 121 with a few less front panel controls) Got it at Radio Shack for $...in November. They went on sale shortly afterwards for $.... I was looking for a quick, simple, cost effective machine to get my Home Studio Demos on disk quickly and not tie up my Computer Workstation with that task. This product does that flawlessly. I have not had any mechanical problems with the CDRW but I will complain just a bit about the Manual. Came with 2 of them-One in English and One in Spanish. Neither manuals completely describe all the functions or displays that show up on the recorder. Some instructions are not very clear. It's evident that some editing needs to take place of the manual. It almost seems that it as written as a transcription of another language.

The recorder itself is exceptional quality for the price. Sony, Marantz, Panasonic and a few others make a comporable piece of equiptment for between $...$...range. RCA/Thomson Electronics Group placed this right smack dab in the middle of the Price/Effectiveness range for me. I have used some exceptional RCA equiptment in my 43 years of life and certainly this incarnation of RCA is leaps and bounds different from the original company but just a few years ago, you couldn't get a CDRW for under $...so I'm pleased. and for all those who are complaning about the plastic construction? I wonder; what are you planning to do with your CDRW? Prop up your home with it? There are some great portables that will do that better-check Marantz and bring a much larger checkbook!

The only complaints I will site about this device (and I have this complaint about most current electronic equiptment from most contemporary manufacturers) is that the display is way too small. My eyesight at 43 isn't what it used to be and the industry needs to take that into consideration, though it might not be as cost effective, it would be nice if we could get the advantage of being able to use data CD's as well as the Audio Cd's although cross platform applications-audio to computer don't cause any problems.

Good job RCA. I will continue to buy more products.

One more thing........I have never dealt directly with RCA customer service or suppoty but my unit was purchased at Radio Shack who will promptly service or replace your defective device with minimal muss or fuss. : )

Summary: I love it. It's easy to use!!!
Review: I've had the RCA CDRW 120 version for about 6 months and had no problems. I'm a local NYC resident DJ and use it @ least 5 times a day since. It's easy and affordable!
It only uses the best CD's too! TDK, Sony, Memorex, Fuji and only Name brand CD's. (Why put anything else in it?)
I strongly recommend it.
Enjoy!!!
Peace, Love and Music.

Summary: Bad Right Out of the BOX
Review: Nothing but bad luck! The manual is one of the poorest manuals I have ever seen!!! While recording/dubbing I get "recovering" on the display and am left with an unrecorded, now ruined CDR. Nowhere in the manual does it even mention the recovering message. The unit is cheaply constructed and the manual is worse yet. My advice is to spend more and buy a reputable brand!
