Rating: Summary: Not A Problem!!! Review: I bought this Item New right after it was but into stores back in 1998 and Last year when we purchased a home theater system we closeted this player, I hooked it up just the other day and it still playes perfect!!!
Rating: Summary: RCA 5 discs CD changer Review: I have only had for less than 1 week so I can't comment on reliability but works fine so far. Sounds great through my 100 watt per channel amplifier. Older disks that seemed to skip on my old CD player (boombox) play fine on this unit. Easy to use just load and play. Changes disks smoothly and quikly (about 10 seconds to change disks) and skips to next track in about 1 second. Sounds good and works fine and I am happy with it. Hard to beat for the price.

Rating: Summary: A fair value Review: I have owned this model for over 2 years. Easy to use panel controls and remote. Mine still operates, but sometimes skips now, even after a good cleaning. For the price (same as 2 years ago) it was a good value. Now, better quality CD players [do not cost as much], while the RCA did not come down comparitively in price. I would have to recommend a low priced Sony or Technics for [just a little more].
Rating: Summary: RCA - Worst Customer Service Possible Review: I purchased the RP8070 in August 2003. I had trouble with the unit and sent it back March 2004. I paid $80. The current retail is $50. They said they cannot fix mine and no longer make them so cannot replace it and have nothing comparable. Six months later they are still for sale everywhere and Amazon.com advertises that more are coming in soon. I guess they do not know they are no longer being made. All I asked for was replace it or give me what I paid. They refuse unless I fax them a receipt. Problem is the receipt is partially illegible and not faxable. Anyway, it is one big ripoff and I would advise anyone away from doing business with these people.
Rating: Summary: Defective product, defective customer service Review: I purchased this product in March. It broke in October. I brought it to an authorized service center. They stalled for weeks, but couldn't fix it. I called customer service at Thomson (they own RCA now) and they agreed in principle to replace the defective unit. They still haven't followed through. Only if the authorized service center agrees to send them the broken unit will they send the service center (not me) the replacement unit. So my replacement is being held hostage by the same lousy repair place that couldn't fix it in the first place. RCA/Thomson tells me tough luck when I call (they won't return my calls). So I continue to wait while Thomson refuses to honor their warranty. I should have know better, this is my second unit. The first one broke soon after the one year warranty expired. Don't buy any RCA/Thomson products. They don't stand behind them.
Rating: Summary: A piece of junk Review: I thought I was part of an "I Love Lucy" episode when I used this machine. You push a button to open the door, and the power goes off. You push play, and the skip disc engages. Then one day, the power refused to turn off and I had to unplug it. Then with the unit still unplugged, I watched in amazement as the door opened. I thought about calling an exorcist, but instead I replaced it with a Phillips of the same price level. So far, the Phillips is fine, only God knows what RCA's problem is. I wanted to give this product 0 stars, but 1 is the least allowed here.
Rating: Summary: It was great when I first got it...then slowly brokedown Review: I thought it was a great deal, and it was for the first year this RCA CD player worked great. Recently it has not been able to read ANY CDs that I put in it and often skips. I would return it to the manufacturer but the warranty recently expired.
Rating: Summary: doesn't like CD-Rs Review: I've had this model for several months and it works fine with commercially pressed CDs. However, it makes strange noises when it plays my home-burned CD-Rs. If you burn your own CD-Rs you may want to think twice before buying this model.
Rating: Summary: Bad Choice for a CD Changer! Review: I've owned this CD changer for about 1 1/2 years. Worked OK for about 8-10 months but now skips on just about every CD. When it changes to a new CD, the changer makes noises like the CD is not seated and spinning correctly. It then skips and nothing will remedy it except repeatedly removing and restarting the CD or a good "bump" on the side. The case is cheaply made and obviously the internal components are the same. There are much better choices out there for very little more money!
