Summary: Great Bang for the Buck!
Review: This unit is great! Great sound for its size, even at low volume. It also has great connectivity with your PC through its USB port. It also has a max sound feature when you want to go BOOM BOX. My only complaint is that the CD trays (there's 5 of them) make the usual clanky noises that cd changers make...oh well you cant have everything. But still, this unit is a class act and I have no regrets getting one.

Review: What can I say, this system ROCKS! Hook up is really easy, the picture instructions are great to get your new system up and running. I bought this system because I knew I would utilize every function. From playing CDs, CD-Rs, to CD-RWs, listening to the radio, playing MP3s from my PC, and using it as the auxiliary sound output for my TV and DVD player so I can get that Cinema sound quality. This Micro-system isn't short on power, with 100 watts of power, two 5.25 in. Woofers, and two tweeters, you won't miss a single note. The USB link was very easy to install onto my computer; now everytime I hit the USB link button on the remote, my PC is ready to start playing my collection of MP3s. Also it has 5-CD trays, not 3, like most every other micro-system out there. Oh, and don't you hate when you have to program radio stations yourself? Most people would just say forget it, and never take the time. Well with the Philips system you don't have to worry because it can auto program itself! Just press the program button and it will ask you if you want the system to find all stations that it can pick up. I just love the Virtual Environment Control sound functions. The eight different settings provide sound adjustments to fit the specific category of sound output being played. Such as for Music there is Rock, Jazz, Pop, and Optimal. And the other four: Cinema, Cyber, Hall, and concert. Also, I can't forget the MAX Sound Feature which uses all available benefits of the Virtual Environment Control to provide maximum sound output for any volume setting. The only downside to this system is the exhaust fan in the rear of the main unit. When the system is sitting idle, such as when a CD has finished playing or the system is on Mute, you can clearly hear the fan, which for me reminds me of my computer's fan, but at about half the volume. Still I wish the system came without the exhaust fan, a maybe they could have just made more air vents on the unit. But, besides that I have no other complaints! Pros: Great modern look, excellent sound quality, great functionality, easy to set-up and use, nothing else like it. Con: Exhaust fan can be heard during very low volume.
