Summary: Frustrated Consumer
Review: After owning this camera for less than 3 months it had problems with the shutter. We had to take it to a local Canon authorized repair shop who then had to mail it to Canon for repair. We got it back after about 2 months only to have it break for the same problem 1 month later. Canon once again said we had to ship it to them for repair. Numerous letters were written we got the camera back and now once again are having problems with it. Our warranty expired 3 months ago! When this camera works it takes good pictures BUT I would not recommend this camera to anyone it is not worth the aggravation and per previous review shutter seems to be a repair issue!!!

Summary: Great all around 35mm camera
Review: Being a loyal fan of Nikon, I was a little skeptical of any other brand of camera. I wanted a new 35mm camera, but Nikon didn't have much to offer in this price range. After purchasing the Canon Rebel, I have become a fan of Canon products. This is really a value-packed camera.....easy to use, and it takes very good pictures. It is well balanced, and comfortable to use. For quality photos and ease of operation, I rate this camera very high. I believe that you would have to spend a lot more money to obtain any notable improvement in picture quality. A lot of "Bang For The Buck"!

Summary: LOVE IT
Review: Bought almost on a whim 3 years ago. Takes excelent pictures. Decorated my whole apartment with them. A little photoshop made my pictures up to 20x30 and only a little grainy. not bad for 35 mm.

I take rolls and rolls of pictures.

Summary: So I actually own a Rebel X...
Review: But close enough. I bought it with a 75-200mm lense to attach, and when going to Estes Park, Colorado to watch the Elk Rut, it doesn't fail... Except when night falls. If you don't know how to use the camera (which I didn't at the time) at dusk, your pictures will come out blurry and worthless. If you actually take the time to learn about the camera, you'll find out that you can adjust the shutter speed to be so quick, that you won't have to worry about this. That was my fault, and not the reason why I give it 4 stars, but because it's pretty bulky to lug around. Switching lenses takes time if you don't want to ruin them. If you see something hundreds of feet out and you all of the sudden have to switch to a bigger lense while riding in the passenger side of a vehicle, it's still tough, because it's hard to keep the lense from scratching. I did go out and buy a extension that you put between the camera and the lense, and it saved me a bundle not having to buy a new lense (I wanted to go to around 400mm, and with the extension, it put me at about 350mm). Another bad thing about it is the default hood that came with it. When zoomed out to 35mm, the photos would always have a black rounded edge on them, so for the most part, I would never use the hood until I got a smaller one.

But, I still love the camera! Can't wait until I can afford a digital, and I'll surely have one!

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA
Review: I bought my Canon Rebel G about three years ago after owning a Minolta XG-1 manual focus camera for about 15 years. I had to repair my Minolta once when the f-stop began sticking after about 13 years. Finally the ol' girl gave out an I had to buy a new camera. I looked around and finally settled on the Rebel G. Immediately I could tell the difference in the photos. My old Minolta's photos were far sharper and more focused. Now, after owning my Canon Rebel G for only three years the auto-focus has completely given out and all I am left with from a trip to Zion Nat'l Park are my memories and 11 rolls of blurry photos. To repair this camera would cost over $150--more than half the cost of a crummy camera. I'm going to throw it away and buy something worth my money. I've had nothing but disappointment from this camera. I would suggest spending a little more money and getting something that works. I hear Pentax is making a dependable low-buget SLR.

Summary: Buy It!
Review: I bought this camera last minute before we went to the Cher concert and I wasn't disappointed! My old SLR died the day of the concert and I bought this camera in a rush --- and it worked out great! I used 1600 speed film with the 75-300 lens and got great up-close shots of Cher. It's worth every penny!

Summary: Amazing camera, I absolutely love it
Review: I bought this camera the day we were leaving for vacation. Of the three camera's brought on this trip, everyone who's looked at our pictures is amazed at how much better the quality is from the Canon Rebel. If you're not getting beautiful pictures from this camera, then you're doing something wrong. Having taken a photography class before, I love the flexability I have with all the different settings, while at the same time, any amature can take beautiful photos with the automatic settings. My only complaint is the auto focus. It's a little slow (especially compared to strictly automatic cameras) and when having someone else take a picture for you, you have to explain to them to hold the button half-way down until it beeps or your picture will be out of focus. Although I am so attached to this camera, it doesn't happen often! I love taking photos with it so much, our photo album looks like my family went on vacation without me! Regardless, it's light weight, easy to use, and produces the best quality photographs of any camera I've seen. If you enjoy photography, whether expert or amature, you will love this camera.

Summary: WOW!! Canon has one another consumer
Review: I have had this camera for over 3 years, since it first debuted. After all these years, the camera is still here. That has to tell you something. This is also a very reliable camera. I have had NOTHING go wrong with it. Also the camera has the ability to grow with the user. 3 years ago, I knew nothing about cameras. I was impressed with its auto functions. It has the abilities to go fully auto, for the non experienced users, to semi auto, for the semi experienced user, and fully manual, for the pro. The picture quality can rival the more expensive cameras. Much like all new cameras , 10 years from now, Canon will still be using the same mount, allowing you to use all your old lenses with newer cameras. Buck for Buck, there are no cameras out there that have the abilities of this camera. That is the reason why this is the number one selling SLR camera.

Summary: fine camera
Review: i love this camera. i've owned mine for a year and a half, and i've never had any problems with it. it takes better photos than the other cameras i've used (minolta, nikon...) and it's so simple that even a novice could use it, provided they scanned the instruction for 5 minutes. i also use the 200mm zoom lense canon makes, and they work wonderfully together. this camera is a snap.
