Summary: superb camera for making difficult shots easy
Review: a camera that gives you control, if you want it, but has super automatic features. truly understanding the camera will take detailed study, but its metering and automatic focusing system are top notch. if i had to own only one 35 mm film camera body, this would be it.

Summary: From a Professional of 25 years..One of the best 35 mm.
Review: After doing a lot of portrait photography with a medium format, I switched to my Elan II and then bought an A2E and now I use the Elan II for a Backup. It is not the camera that makes the total exposure work. It is the person operating it and the lenses. I take my Elan II and my lenses on location with me when I don't want to carry my A2E and it takes excellent photographs even enlarged to 30 x 40. I love mine.

Summary: The Ultimate Affordable SLR
Review: After looking long and good at all camera brands and models, I found a great deal on the Elan II. This camera has it all. The aluminum body makes it strong and durable. It's a little on the heavy side--but that makes it less wobbly when you take the picture. All modes are there plus more-you can do everything from manual exposures to fully auto to blurry backgrounds. If you can push it a little and pay for the Elan II, I would buy it. It is much superior to the Rebels, even more than the Rebel 2000. THIS CAMERA IS AWESOME!!! 5 STARS PLUS RATING!!!

Summary: Great camera and a smart use of my tax refund
Review: I bought my Elan IIe with quartz dating about a month ago and I haven't had one bad photo. I used my tax refund, and it was a smart buy. I thoroughly researched all kinds of SLR cameras of the same class (mid price, semi-advanced) and found this one to be the best choice for me. Ironically, it was the first one of over ten that I looked at. I kept going back to it for so many reasons. Trust me, this is a great camera. I am a small town newspaper editor, and this camera lets me get great photos of everything from PTA meetings to fiery car crashes.

This camera has allowed me to explore techniques in photography that you just don't get with other models. It comes with more features than you can shake a stick at! The quality and sharpness of your photos may vary based on your ability and the lens you attach to it, but rest assured that if you know how to tell the camera to take a good picture, it won't let you down.

Review: I have wrote a review before, I was a bit crazy back than, but now I am OK. This camera really looks goo, silver with black, so much better than same class Nickon cameras. It's a kind of light, not too big. The picture quality is great too, one thing made the pictures so great is the focus system, there are three points on the view window, and the area that the point is at auto focuses when you look at it, it's really neat. It's easy to control too, just read the instructions for an hour, and use it for several days, then you will understand everything, the placement for each button is smart. You will like this camera a lot. I don't really like the lense that come with this camera, and you need to knowthat the lense is a very important thing to consider when you are buying a camera. The lense makes you feel slow, because it is slow, and not so good looking. You would feel better if you buy a lense that gose from 28 or 35-100 or 125 or something. You will like it.

Summary: Best of both worlds
Review: I traded a well-seasoned Minolta 700 for the IIe with eye-tracking. The IIe is more versatile and easy to use as a creative camera. It really can't be beat as a fully automatic, very fast and very quiet auto-eveything 35mm. Perfect for planned composition and point & shoot alike. Only regret is not opting for a longer zoom lens - - the 35-80 is good, but many outdoor shots cry for something over 100.

Review: I used this camera to teach myself photography (using books by John Hedgecoe). It was a fabulous experience. I went from using the totally automated system, to the modes, and finally even full manual mode, and in two years I became good enough to sell my work. Great product

Summary: Extraordinary Camera!
Review: I've had my Canon EOS Elan II for almost seven years and though my technique has advanced, this camera is still home to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for improved technology -- digital cameras, memory cards, photo quality printers, etc should not be ignored. But nothing beats a 35mm SLR, especially with this kind of setup. What's so great about the Canon EOS is that it gives the photographer the power of choice. Unlike simple point-and-shoots, the Elan II offers the option between automatic and manual exposure settings (or even somewere in between) to ultimately empower the photographer to gauge how much creative/technical input he/she wants in his photographs. In addition, features like focus lock, bracketing, depth of field control, dual exposure for creative superimposed images, almost seem like welcome icing on the proverbial cake. Abuse is the order of the day with my camera, and I'm happy to say that my Canon has held steadfast in this regard too. Durability is not a problem here. If you're thinking seriously about taking better photographs, you can't go wrong with this one. It's well worth the investment.
