Summary: Great Camera
Review: A great camera. We bought this camera a couple of months ago after our 35mm had some problems, and are extremely pleased with it. We didn't want to take any chances with the old cameras while taking pictures of our new daughter. The picture quality is outstanding(Its the first APS camera i have owned). The controls are easy to use and straight forward. I like the preset names that you can put on individual prints or to the entire roll. The index print and the coded roll are nice to have when you need to get reprints. Highly recomended.

Summary: Kodak C700 Advantix Zoom Camera
Review: Great little camera that is comfortable to hold. The best feature of this camera is the lack of red-eye when using flash. The camera does not even have a red-eye setting...that annoying strobing flash or steady light before the actual exposure. It doesn't need it because of the generous separation of flash tube to lens. The title imprinting when selected, prints on back of the print and has a choice of 30 titles. Another nice feature is mid-roll rewind. Takes sharp pictures and well worth the money.

Summary: My Favorite Camera
Review: I am very disappointed in this camera. I have had it for two years and have yet to get good quality pictures from it. The color is very bland and does not adapt well in different lights. I am recently having problems with the advantix portion of the camera, it doesn't adapt to the settings I choose. I would look at other cameras before this one. I am looking for a different one.

Summary: Great Camera
Review: I have found this to be a wonderful camera. I bought it specifically to take on vacation with me about a year ago. I thought it would be a good opportunity to get a nice little camera that was convenient to try the new Advantix film format. I have enjoyed both. The camera is light, of a nice size, good zoom range, and very versatile in respect to the price. Naturally it is not the best camera on the market, but for the price it can't be beat. The only annoyances I have found is that it automatically defaults back to the 4x7 picture size so you have to remember to change it - also the auto shut-off feature designed to save battery power, all to often I have gone to take a picture and the camera has turned itself off because I left it on for too long. Still, for the price, nothing beats the ease and convenience of this little gem of a camera.

Summary: My Favorite Camera
Review: I have had this camera for a year and a half now, and have been very pleased with it. Long after the digital camera has been mailed off to the camera hospital, this workhorse just keeps going with no problems.

Aside from the usual family photos, there are two main types of pictures I am taking. The first is of large groups, mostly with moving kids in them, often in a church setting with bad lighting. The Advantix produces a picture that is sharp and clear, with a sense of dimension to it. Not too much red-eye problem. The shutter moves quickly enough, too, so I can get the activity without too much blur.

The second type of photo is very close-up (within a couple of feet) of science experiments (we document homeschool lab work with pictures). The Advantix produces a picture which lets us show our equipment, often even the labels on the chemical bottles, and does well distinguishing "before" and "after" in beakers.

The only limit to this camera for me is that I can only get 200 and 400 speed film for it. What I really want is 800, but that doesn't seem to be available. I need that faster speed to get good pictures at concerts, where distance and lighting are often problematic.

You get an easy to use index print back from the processor. No more trying to figure out which negative you want for copies. Very simple.

I like the choice of picture sizes: portrait, group, and panorama. You can also get your photos printed on a CD-Rom and then manipulate as though they were coming from a digital.

All in all, for the money I spent, this is one great camera.

Summary: Great camera, but still leery of film format
Review: I purchased this camera after vacationing with 2 disposable APS cameras and being very happy with the results. This camera is very easy to use. The controls are in good positions for your fingers to operate when you are holding the camera, unlike some of the other brands I tried. I agree with the reviewer who said the "sleep" mode comes on too quickly and makes a little too much noise when it "wakes," especially if you are trying to take pictures of animals. My only complaint about the camera is not really about the camera itself but about the film format. Twice so far, the pictures I have developed have "defaulted" to all 4x7 instead of coming out in all three sizes. The camera's book (as well as a Kodak employee when I contacted the company) says that if this happens, it is because the developer's equipment did not properly read the magnetic strip that is encoded on the film. Both suggested asking the developer to reprint the film. Both times this happened to me, the prints came out perfectly the second time around. However, it took quite a bit of persuasion on my part to get the developer to do the reprints (for no charge), and I had to make an extra trip to the store to pick up my new prints a couple of days later. I would be interested to know whether this is a widespread problem or if I simply had bad luck on 2 of the 6 APS rolls I have processed. Since the camera's book addresses the problem and the Kodak employee was aware of it, this is obviously not the first time it has happened. In general, I am very happy with the camera itself and the colors in the prints are very vibrant.

Summary: Versatile and dependable APS camera
Review: I purchased this camera mainly for the camera size and panoramic feature. The option to switch from C (classic-4x6), H (group-HDTV-4x7) - default size, or P (panoramic-4x11.5) formats at anytime is great. The features are very simple, but this camera packs a lot into its small size. The "flash fill" feature works well. The flash bulb placement seems to reduce the red-eye as advertised. The self-timer has a delay of 10 seconds. Loading and unloading the film cassette couldn't be easier, especially with the mid-roll change feature. You can also view the film speed on the display at a few presses of a button. There are onscreen messages on the LCD display that tell you "FLASH NOT READY" or "MOVE BACK". The frame counter indicates how many exposures you have left.

The date & time imprinting allows you to choose several formats for the date (mm/dd/yy, dd/mm/yy, yy/mm/dd) and time (12 or 24 hour). The nice thing is that it is imprinted on the back of the print instead of the front of the print.

There are two title options: roll and/or print. There are 30 preset titles to choose from. The roll title comes in handy when getting the index print. One thing to keep in mind if you are using the same title for both roll and print (e.g. "Vacation"), then both titles appear on the back of the print (e.g. "Vacation", "Vacation"), which can make it seem redundant.

The mid-roll change (MRC) feature is an added bonus, allowing you to switch between different rolls (e.g. change a paritally exposed roll of 400 speed color film to a roll of 400 speed black & white film or 200 speed color film, then back again). There is a nice safety feature in which the film door locks, so you can't open it until the entire roll has rewound (either by using all exposures or using the mid-roll feature). Although reloading is easy, the downside is waiting for it to advance to the correct location (you can hear it go through one frame at a time until it finds an unexposed frame). However, that is a little sacrifice for the MRC feature.

Overall, this is a great little camera if you want something small, but dependable to carry around. The prints are excellent for a non-SLR camera.

Summary: Love this camera
Review: I too love this camera. It won the Consumers Reports best all round value for cost, ease of use and quality of pictures etc. It took some time to find in stores but after getting it for Christmas I have never had a bad picture. People comment on how great the pictures are an I agree. It is light and fits in a pocket, sure its not as small as an Elph, but you need something to hold on to! The controls are easy. I am no photographer but my pictures are suddenly looking great. It is my first APS camera and the joy of not having to worry about having the film load, having the time and date of the picture taken printed on the back of the pictures and the three formats available is a really great. I love this camera, apparently a C800 now exists as well. If it is based on the C700 then I'm sure its great. Its a great price, enjoy!
