Review: My first Canon Sure Shot (I don't remember the model #) was purchased in 1980 and lasted until 1998 (that's 18 years, folks!) I loved it and used it constantly. I grew up being THE person who took the pictures of whatever event was taking place (holidays, birthdays, etc.) That camera went EVERYWHERE with me including the beach, numerous cruise vacations, etc. No, you can't take funky dark evening shots, but hey, what do you want for the price???? I purchased MY Canon Sure Shot 105 Zoom in May 1998, one month before I went on a two-week vacation to Sweden. In Sweden I shot 26 rolls of film, all of which came out wonderful. From the ease of film loading to the zoom feature to the self-timing feature to the forced/no flash to the red-eye reduction, as long as you familiarize yourself with what the camera can do, you won't be disappointed. I'm here today to buy the exact same camera for my boyfriend - so he'll stop borrowing mine!! P.S. The only reason I got a new one in 1998 is that I broke the old one when I dropped it from a considerable height and snapped the "door". Other than that, the camera worked fine for those 18 years and I fully expect to get that many years out of this one!!

Summary: It was a good little camera when it worked.
Review: My husband bought this camera for me after seeing a recommendation for it in Consumer Reports. I liked just about everything about the camera: it took great pictures, was easy to use, had a nice zoom, nice small size that fit into my purse, etc. However, I had the camera just over a year when "H" started flashing in the LCD screen, which means there is a problem with the camera. My husband took it twice to a camera repair place, where the guy just basically "fiddled" with it and then it would work for a roll or 2 of film and then start flashing "H" again. I sent and email to Canon about it, and never heard back from them. My husband sent an email to a camera repair place on the web that sends repair estimates by email and they estimated over $100 to repair it. So I bought a Pentax IQ 105 that I found on sale for $100, since I had a Pentax for a long time before I got the Canon. I think if this camera had worked I would have liked it better than the Pentax, but it's hard to like a camera that doesn't take pictures.

Summary: A fantastic camera...until it stops working
Review: My SureShot 105 provided me with 3 years worth of beautiful photos. Then one day, the camera failed to turn on. The camera was never dropped, shaken, or exposed to moisture, and the battery was new. A camera shop estimated a repair cost of $75.
I lamented my camera's short life until I saw the "made in China" label on the box.

Summary: Flashing H. Serious design flaw
Review: My wife and I had one for about a year, then got the flashing H. The problem could not be fixed. However, my wife decided to purchase the same camera, and again, the flashing H after a year of light to moderate use. I think I'll buy an Olympus now.Canon, get your act together. Consumers, don't waste your money.

Summary: I am very impressed with this camera
Review: We have had this camera lying around our office for over a year for taking jobsite photos. When our son was born, I asked my husband to bring it since it had a zoom feature. We took a roll of black and white, and every single shot is perfect. I used it again to take another roll of the baby and some shots of our vacation, and again, every shot is perfect. I am really pleased with this camera- at least with black and white film, it can help you get really good, art-quality photos. I use the zoom for almost every shot and compose my pictures carefully. We have had this camera out on construction jobsites, and it's been bouncing around in carry-on luggage and my diaper bag, and it still works perfectly. I think this is a great camera for the money- I had all but given up on taking photos- they always came out so badly- until I started taking black and white pictures with this camera.

Review: We too have had problem with camera. Been in use since Sept. Good pictures, but in middle of a roll of film it started flashing H. After reading about other problems here I doubt its worth fixing...
