Rating: Summary: NOT VERY SURE SHOTS!!!!! Review: I own a great SLR 35mm camera with all the bells and whistles with which I have taken beautiful pictures on many occasions (only problem is that it weighs a ton)! So last summer I bought the Sure Shot because I wanted something compact, light, and simple to use (I had considered getting an Elph but then I read all the negative reviews on APS cameras). So I bought this on recommendation of a friend who owns the Sure Shot Tele 80 (and raves about it) I found it very easy to use (and convenient to carry). I took shots outside on sunny days, overcast days, indoors, etc. Thought that I was going to have some great shots of my trip. But it was not to be. Gee, why not? If one reads the manual cover to cover twice and follows all the instructions shouldn't one have some decent photos? I'm not going to go into all the sad details but I will say that its operation is extremely inconsistent. One example: I shot the same scene several times within 5 minutes, yet the photos were all different (one was dark, another normal, the third blurred). There were also inconsistencies with the use of the flash indoors and out, among other problems which I will not go into. I cannot recommened this camera as I have taken better pictures with disposable ones, and probably would have been better off buying a few disposables for my vacation. The Sure Shot Tele 80 "SURE" is a dissapointment.
Rating: Summary: Good camera, but a little disappointing Review: I received this camera for Christmas, and was very excited to get a camera with a zoom. However, I was very disappointed when I found out it wasn't actually a zoom, but a dual-focus lens, so I only had two levels of zoom to choose from.Other than that, this is a pretty good camera. It's very easy and fun to use--you can just take it out of the box and start taking pictures if you want to without having to read through a big manual. I also really like the date imprinting feature. I tend to forget just when I took a picture...now I don't have to worry about that anymore. :) As long as you don't mind the dual-focus lense, this is a great camera. Just make sure you know what you're buying so you don't expect a zoom and get the dual-focus instead!
Rating: Summary: Good Camera for low price Review: I was really excited when I got my Canon Sure Shot 80 in mail. I was eager to see its performance as I had heard that it was a little gem in performance. I was satisfied with the result that this camera costing [$$]provided. However, I would like to suggest to use the camera in Flash mode whenever you feel the light is not enough. It is an extremely good camera for its price and some of the pictures were like SLR quality.

Rating: Summary: for the people who want to know a little bit more. Review: i was very surprised to read the negative reviews of this camera. in reading them i also realize these people didn't actually use the camera and judge it by the pictures. my husband and i are photographers and realize that all the extra perks and gadgets of a camera are not as important as the quality of a great shot. one of the best things about this camera is that it is not a zoom lens (it also does not advertise to be one) it is a dual lense which allows two settings instead of one but with a better quality lens. zoom cameras give you an in-between range and for that exact reason has a lower quality lens. we use this camera as a simple point and shoot to capture spur of the moment activities...view for yourself. we love this camera and i shopped all over for a dual lens instead of a zoom and this was the only one i could find.
Rating: Summary: Don't be misled Review: Just one star for this one. And I've loved other Canon cameras that I've owned. This camera has a zoom, but note that it has only two settings and nothing in between. What was Canon thinking? It's just unbelievable. For (a little) more, get youself the great Sure Shot 85, which is also a Consumer Reports "best buy". Also note that the product specs indicate a "Date Imprinting" feature on this camera, but the camera I received did not include that feature. Photo quality should still be as good as other Canon cameras though.
Rating: Summary: Great, Easy to Use Camera, Great Quality pics Review: My first Canon is the origianl Sure Shot ($2 on ebay). It has dual lens of 28/48. This camera took the best quality pics!!!!!! (this was going from a Minolta zoom). So I decided to try this tele for a longer distance ($8.99 on ebay). Of course, great quality pics too!!! I also have a Pentax IQ zoom 160 (never ever had any pics turn out blurry till this camera)...still get better pics from my simple, tele Canons. Also have Canon Sure Shot zoom 105, again, still better quality pics then the Pentax, but not as good as the dual lens cameras..... So, what I can figure, is the simplicity of these dual lens cameras leads to better quality pics. They dont offer as many photo modes as some of the others, but you will get better quality pics all of the time, not just some of the time. You cant go wrong with one of these.
Rating: Summary: Great pictures, good value - great dual focus lense Review: This is my second sure shot camera, I don't think there is a better compact camera for the money. Shot two roles so far, pictures are very good. Not as clear as my Nikon SLR but it is more veratile. Dual focus lense is not a problem with me, how many times do you need something between a 35mm and 80 mm shot? What the dual focus allows is a better quality lense and cheaper price. Clear shots and great color. Easy to use but not as compact as some others. If you need a cheap camera but don't want cheap looking pictures check it out. In fact probably as cheap as some disposables, but you won't throw this one away.
