Description:

The TU-PVR508DU Dish Network satellite system's built-in personal video recorder (PVR) stores 60 hours of programming, so you can afford to keep the best shows of the season at your beck and call. The PVR also lets you pause live TV (up to two hours) and then makes it easy to catch up to live viewing by zipping past nonessential viewing after the fact. There's even a cable TV input if you decide to use the PVR functions before (or in addition to) subscribing to the Dish Network satellite service. The unit offers four fast-forward and fast-reverse speeds, skip forward (30 seconds), skip back (10 seconds), manual and auto record event timers, quick record, and program-management features that let you play, delete, or protect a recorded event. Enhanced automatic and manual event timers can program the receiver to record directly to the hard drive or to automatically tune to a program at a designated time.

An extended EPG (Electronic Program Guide) stores seven days of programming on the hard drive for quick and easy access to listings. Other features include parental control locks, program information, theme lists, favorites lists, browse, one-touch channel return, closed-caption support, and alternate audio support. The supplied Platinum Plus UHF-Infrared 4-component universal remote control operates the receiver 100 feet away, through walls and other obstructions. It can be programmed to control (via IR) up to three additional components, such as TVs and VCRs.
