Rating: Summary: re: Specifications Review: ...It is usually helpful to go to the manufacturer's web siteto get specifications, anyway, as resellers as big as Amazon can't beexpected list full descriptions for everything. give 'em a break. :-D this piece of gear has everything, even the AC-3 RF input for the Pioneer laser disc players. I plan on purchasing this, as well as the Pioneer DVL 919 (laserdisc, DVD player)
Rating: Summary: Pioneers Best Review: After 3 years of ownership Pioneers Best just quit, repaire cost [is expensive].There are better Quality Equipment out there I would never ever buy another piece of Pioneer Electronic gear.
Rating: Summary: Specifications Review: Description does not give enough information on the specifications, ie...video in/outputs, # of s-jacks, etc....
Rating: Summary: Great receiver....watch out for the repairs! Review: I have owned this receiver for three years. I run a very high end setup and use most of the features and most of the connections.....my wife is finally starting to get used to the 6 foot 19 inch rack in the living room.........The LCD touch screen remote control is especially nice, better than the Pronto/Marantz unit. Being THX Ultra certified means that complex speaker impedances can be used without fear, because they test to 3 ohms under load during the certification process....one of the few units on the market that will drive almost any speaker you could purchase. The bass management is very well thought out and will amaze you when it follows the component selection, output type, and DSP selections around as you make your choices. Very nice not to have to always make adjustments once you get them set. I too had to have a repair....the DSP chip on the early units seem to be a sore spot for Pioneer. Everything goes through this chip! When it has a problem you have a big problem. The total cost of repair for me was "a substainal amount of money". The chip cost was about 35 bucks but the thing needs to have a chip socket installed to have the replacement fitted. That means tons of labor and then testing. So far the six month old repair with the new chip and it's updated firmware has performed as good or better than new. Since this unit is discontinued and has been replaced by it's bigger brother the VSX-39, I would spend the extra bucks on that unit with an extended warranty, rather than buy used, but that is just me. Anyway you cut it, you cannot beat this product!
Rating: Summary: it's a dam good receiver, if you can spare the money Review: It's one of the best receivers available, with lots of features. Easy to operate and extremely good sound effects.
Rating: Summary: Worth the money Review: This reciever is not just an average product, it's designed for the hi-end user, thus the price. If you can spare the cash this is an excellent buy. With support for both DTS and Dolby Digital sound you are guaranteed high quality sound from any system combination, from tapes all the way to DVDs. Pioneers excellent reputation for quality is certainly upheld with this fine product. I can recomend it to anybody who's willing to spend that little extra for a 1st class product.
