Summary: Good (not great) camera for the money
Review: Camera takes decent pictures, certainly good enough for web sites and general photography, but you wouldn't mistake the images as something from a professional camera (and at this price, you really wouldn't expect to).

What I really like about this camera is the service. I just sent the camera in to fix a problem with the flash and mode selector wheel. A new reconditioned camera was received only 2 weeks after it was sent in.

Summary: Better off without
Review: I have bought several digital cameras as I am a computor tutor and test them for clients. I just bought this one it is going back now! This is the first review I've written and the only reason I'm taking the time is to save someone else some time and money.

This camera is the worst I've ever tested. Normally in a digital there is some lag time after taking a shot before the next one can be taken yet this camera has an incredible lag after you snap the shutter release. Which means you will miss every action shot you take. If you take a picture of your dog...your dog will be up the hill leaving you with a landscape with no dog by the time the picture is taken. This is unacceptable for any camera!

Now I will give it the benefit of the doubt and say it could just be mine because no one else has mentioned this design defect. But if you are unable to return this camera do not buy it! Otherwise you can check for yourself. Also, terrible focus on this unit leaving blurry pics and very washed out colors.

I would absolutely go with an Olympus, Kodak or Nikon first.

Summary: A rewarding little camera
Review: I have bought this camera to make photos quickly and without trouble. It has been excellent. It has many controls for all situations of light, so that the best picture is always the result. Using the normal setting gives good a picture, but with some small adjustment of exposure the best picture can be made. This means that the person new to digital camera and the person who has before used a digital camera will have the same good use from this.

I have made many new photographs with this camera. The zoom and the resolution mean the possible picture is greater.

I would say that a person who wants a good digital camera for the lower money should buy this camera.

Review: I have used a few digi cams the kodak easyshare dx3600, nikon coolpix775, both of wich had good image quality , and sony I wanted my own istead of using everyone elses what I realy wanted was the nikon it took the best but I decided to save the money and get the samsung thinking becouse it was 2megapic it would be ok. Not even close, taking a picture wasnt easy as the camera was not quick enough I missed everything that I took, the lcd viewer was so dark I tried using it then gave up,it had some good options but no explanation as how to or when it would be best to use them, not only that but since the view finder was so awfull it was hard to read the options and change them. Then came time for me to transfer them to my computer they looked awfull the worst I had ever seen you could sea every block the color was poor and dark just hidius I wouldnt even take it a step further to print it why bother I knew this camera was junk and returned it 4 hrs after buying it. for the money I sugest the kodak for the same price much better picture and the instructions are great or go up 50 bucks or so and get the nikon even better just dont buy the samsung

Summary: Great Value for Money
Review: I picked this up for under £300 with 32MB,16MB cards, NiMH batteries and charger.

I was a little unsure about this pretty much unknown camera, so with 30 days money back in hand - I decided to risk it...

and what a good risk to take - this camera is nothing short of stunning.

The features included are amazing. Normal shots, Macro shots, burts shots, interval shots and a movie mode! It can even be a webcam if you have a TVInput card.

You can display images and movies on your PC, Mac and even your TV!

Picture quality is really good, though can get a little grainy in dark shots - but this is pretty much the same on cameras in this price range.

The user manual isn't that great, and doesn't cover everything - it also doesn't help when the translation is a little confusing at times. Luckily there is a more detailed manual on the CDROM.

The direct download software is basic but functional, as is integration with windows (ie through the Imaging Devices control panel.) The TWAIN driver is very good and easy to use. The TWAIN driver allows you to take pictures straight from the camera and import them into PSP7 and Photoshop. There is also some Adobe photo editing software included.

Samsung's support was also quick and helpful

Battery life is like every other digital camera - as long as you don't use the LCD too much you'll be ok.

This is a really great camera, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Top notch for the do$h
Review: Reading the other reviews of this piece of kit I have to give respect to gjh for a top review. I don't know what camera Bussi is using but its not the same model as mine. I bought this camera cheap on Tottenham Court Road about three weeks ago, and I've taken probably 300 shots with it so far. I got it bundled with a 32 meg card upgrade.

I've been into amateur photographer for about five years, and I've been using medium format for about three years now, doing my own developing. Now obviously, 1) a digital is not going to compare to semi-pro equiptment, 2) a compact is not going to compare to semi pro equiptment, and 3) a 2 megapixel camera is not going to have the same resolution as a medium format plate. All that said, I've managed to get a good couple of 10x8 shots off my Samsung already. And even in difficult conditions it out performs my old APS compact every time.

Basically, this is a great compact camera, and mine never leaves my bag. If you're after a camera for keeping on you at all times, which will take a nice well rounded shot - this is it. Most people don't want to spend 15 minutes setting up a shot, they want point and click, and they want to see their pictures on screen. If that's you, buy this camera.

If you want a semi-pro camera (which is was Bussi seems to be looking for) then stop being cheap and spend the £1000 plus that you need to set up a real multi-lens outfit. Just don't expect to keep it in your coat pocket.

Summary: A compact marvel
Review: The Digimax SE 210 is a real beauty of a compact for the money. I recently picked one up cheaply, expecting it to be nothing more than a convenient 'quick snap' camera for when I didn't want to risk a more expensive camera. I have since been bowled over by it. The image quality is excellent, and it avoids many of those little niggles which spoil otherwise good cameras. I found it faithfully reproduced detail and colour time after time, and even manage difficult fleshtones without a hitch. The CCD doesn't suffer from many ills at all in fact, as the blooming which can mar pictures with sharp dark-bright transitions was not in evidence and detail was clear and sharp.

The CCD is nestled behind a lovely Schneider Kreuznach 3* asymetrical optical zoom lens, with a further 2* digital zoom available from the camera. The Schneider Kreuznach lens shows a dedication to quality on the part of Samsung when building this camera, as, for those who don't know Schneider Kreuznach make the lenses for all those expensive movie cameras Hollywood uses. The digital zoom is nicely done in 800*600 mode as it uses the CCD resolution to acheive it, but its not worth having in 1600*1200, as post-processing in Photoshop will always do a nicer job at interpolation in my opinion.

The camera, as expected from an all-in-one compact doesn't allow the finest control over more advanced features, but does have 3 white balance settings, and the exposure can be adjusted adequately for low light levels, although in extremely dark conditions, some digital noise does creep in. That said, in comarison to the perfomance of far more expensive cameras under similar conditions this isn't a problem.

The 1.8" LCD display is sharp and bright, and a nice zooming feature allows fine detail to be checked in the field. This is a real bonus as this means the 1600*1200 resolution of the images isn't wasted on the small screen. The menus are easily navigable, and features obvoiusly labelled. The camera can take either 1600*1200 or 800*600 images at three levels of compression. I found that 1600*1200 at medium compression was fantastic for most things. This gives 14 images on the bundled 8mb CompactFlash card(type I only, so no microdives)or a much more respectable 126 on a 64mb card - well worth the $50 or so one will cost you.

The 'extras' include a movie mode where short (30 second) motion clips can be shot, and TV out (both PAL & NTSC) so you can view your pictures on the TV. I used the latter feature recently on holiday to reveiw the days snaps in the hotel bedroom.

Overall, a beauty of a camera for the money. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Summary: Good features but poor image quality
Review: This camera is a bargain, for under $X dollars you get a 2 mega pixel digital camera with 3X zoom lense plus a movie mode which capture moving image without sound for about half a minute. It included everything needed for a simple point and shoot digi cam. But the image quality turn out to be disapointing. For a 2 maga pixel digicam, you expect something that can produce up to 8x10 photo quality picture, but in fact most of the shot taken need to be repair with the software. The image tend to be blur, dark, noisy. It is annoying, as it waste a lot of time to adjust the quality of the image. The controls of the camera are very simple, only provide limited manual settings, which a prosumer won't appreciate too much. The 1.8" LCD display is poor, very dark and reflecting, I have problems to recognize the images from the LCD.Overeall, this camera maybe satisfy for those consumer who seeking something inexpensive, simple and fun. For serious photographer, you may need to turn to another camera.

Summary: Good camera but could be better.
Review: This is my first digital camera and I have been fairly satisfied with it. Generally, I agree with the previous reviews. Overall, it is a good camera and the price was just right - especially with the mail-in rebate! My research, including these reviews, concludes that this camera is of generally good quality and comparable to many similar cameras.

Pictures have been very good quality with any of the settings. Menus allow some adjustments and the usual camera settings. Not too complicated but very useful. But images are often brighter in the camera's ccd display than when viewed on the computer screen. Haven't experienced poor image quality problems thus far. They look great on the computer screen. Print outs look quite good as well. That has as much to do with your printer as your camera.

The movie option is great fun. Only I wish it could record longer movies. Disappointed by the lack of a sound option. Of course, it is not a video camera so don't expect much. Yet has been great fun for computer viewing and might even try sending via e-mail and sharing on family website.

The camera's two biggest problems are: it uses up batteries much too quickly, and images tend to be too dark when taken in low light conditions.

Again, these are problems typical of these cameras. But they can be acceptable considering other things such as cost. Certainly, an AC adapter saves batteries during image downloads (and handy when taking pictures) and is available at the usual places. Odd that Samsung doesn't offer an adapter or recharger kit. Get the best batteries you can find and keep an extra set handy. Adobe's PhotoDeluxe software provided with the camera is simple and great. I'll not bother to use my other photo editing software. Even so, it would become quite tedious to 'fix' every dark pic captured inside at, say, someone's birthday party. I think I can live with this problem, for now.

Also, buying additional memory cards is a big plus. I am considering 64 or 128 mega pixel Sandisk cards. Price is reasonable, so why not have the added flexibility?

Recommendation: worth buying if it suits your digital camera needs and expectations. could make for a good beginner digital camera.

Summary: Not happy
Review: This is the first time I have ever bothered to write a review although I feel that it is necessary to save other people some grief. I got this camera for 1/2 off at a going out of business sale and I regret even that! One reviewer had said that the lag time is awful. I couldn't agree more! We took it whale watching on our vacation to Boston. I now have pleanty of dark pictures of the very end of the whale and also many of the water splash the whales leave. What a let down!
