Summary: This is a great camera
Review: About the DSC-P3

The controls:
The controls are easy to use; switching modes is done with the dial at the top. Simply pressing the button takes a picture and other buttons control volume, zoom, menus, and panning.

The battery life:
With the included battery, life span is about an hour. If you turn off the LCD screen, it is about and hour and a half but isn't the LCD cool?

Quality:
Photos are extremely high quality, and can be set for different sizes starting at 480X640. The highest quality possible will make a picture that is almost 8mb, while the smallest sized photos add up 50 or so to equal one big one. The Mpeg videos have nice sound quality, and can be set in a high-quality recording mode that is very nice. There are three different sizes, and it is possible to get 90 minutes of time with a 128mb memory stick.

Nice features:
You can scroll through each picture, or there is a way to display 9 thumbnails on the screen for easier selection of your desired photo. You can also view the statistics of a photo in another mode. The Flash can be set to low, normal and high; also it can be set to auto, on or off. The night feature is very nice, and can make a dark room look light; only there has to be some light, it can not be totally black.

Os Compatibility:
I am using Windows XP, and as soon as I plugged the DSC-P3 into the computer, it popped up and installed in seconds. Whenever the camera is connected and turned on it acts as a hard drive for the memory card, with drag and drop and everything; there is no need for an adapter.

Photo viewing:
Once a photo is taken, you can zoom in and view it closer up on screen. Panning is easily done with the arrow buttons, and makes the feature real nice.

Taking a photo:
You can change all the settings, from shutter speed to contrast and whatnot. Get for those interested in Photography. I am not quite sure of all those controls yet, so the camera automatically does it for me.

Summary: Excellent Camera for the Price
Review: I cannot express how happy I am with this camera. Regardless of what others say, the duration of the info-lithium battery is quite long. What amazes me is the color fidelity and the incredible adaptability of this camera. I have captured shots in some of the most difficult lighting conditions, right next to my father using a $1000 Nikon 990 and the sony shots look superior.

Match this camera up with a Viao 505 laptop with a built in memory stick reader, and the combo is unstoppable.

Video features are great, and the ability to annotate sound with photographs is fun. VERY high quality sound out of such a tiny mic!! I don't know how they pulled that off.

Bottom line:
1 User friendly / Easy to navigate
2 Hi Quality Pics
3 Great battery life

Summary: Great camera bulky battery charger
Review: I purchased this camera not too long ago. The quality of the pictures is great, the controls are conveniently located and the menu commands are very easy to use. The battery life is OK but not outstanding, a spare battery is a must. I used with a 32 MB memory stick, plenty for all your needs even working at the highest picture quality level (about 40 shots). Overall a very good product. The battery charger is very bulky, this is why I do not give it 5 stars.

Summary: Great camera for the price
Review: I was amazed at the functionality of the controls, and the quality of the pictures. 5 minutes out of the box we were taking pictures and using a majority of the functions. Picture quality on the onboard monitor is pretty amazing, but is hard to see in bright sunshine. In these situations, you can use the viewfinder, and a lcd panel displays camera info. Camera plugs either directly in your pc (usb) or into a television/video thru RCA plugs. The pictures look amazing on the TV ! A 128 memory stick will give you over 1970 (yes, nearly 2000) "standard" quality pictures ! We were considering a digital video camera, brought this instead, and have not regretted our decision. If you mainly take still pictures with occassional video, add this camera to your list to look at. Haggle with the retailer to throw in a camera bag, as you WILL need somewhere to keep the memory sticks, power and connector cords when you travel.

Summary: A good consumer level digital still camera
Review: If you are just an amateur photographer that is either finally switching from analog to digital or just want a decent camera to take on family vacations or school projects, this is a great camera. It is small, lightweight, and does just about anything you could possibly need it to do. It won't take pictures of hummingbirds feeding across a forest bed, but it will take a decent photo of the grand canyon. The quality of the 3x optical zoom is really good, but the picture is sacrificed slightly as you try to artifically enhance it with the digital zoom. The battery life is good enough to take on extended trips from your hotel or on a hike without having to carry around a charger or spare batteries. If you plan on taking lots of high quality large photos, you will need to get a larger memory stick (64 MB will work, 128 MB even better), but the memory stick it comes with will be enough to photograph your child's birthday party as long as you download the photos onto your computer afterwards. At 2.8 MegaPixels, this camera will clearly define a persons face, but won't be able to pick out individual hairs. It would possibly be worth investing in at least a 3 MP camera. All around, while Sony's camera lenses may not compare with Canon or Olympus, Sony makes up for it with their superior knowledge of how to make a great consumer digital device and turn it into a decent digital camera. It is a great value for the price.

Summary: Broken within 4 months
Review: This camera broke within 4 months, and the warantee only covers 3 months for labor. Therefore, I had to spend $[money] to get it fixed. I had a poor experience with their customer service staff.
