Summary: SOME PEOPLE SEEM TO REALLY HATE THIS CAMERA, BUT NOT ME
Review: I don't see why some people don't like this camera! I bought one made by chicony on ebay but it is the same camera as the one by samsung except it has 8 megabytes of memory. It has never given me any problems! It works Great!

Summary: Why all the negativity??
Review: I dont understand why so many people are bagging this camera. I have had mine for a couple of months now and honestly, I couldnt be happier. I knew I wasnt buying a professional digital camera with all the bells and whistles of a more [costly] one but for what I paid for it, it has not disappointed me. Sure it has its downsides to it. The amount of batteries it goes through is a bit disappointing but I have found if I buy the really [less costly] ones they only last for maybe about 7-8 photos. I buy the slightly more [costly] ones which last a lot longer. For downloading, I use rechargable batteries as they give it the life it needs to download all 14-15 pics without a hassel. It is by no means a 'serious' digital camera for professionals, but for a beginner like me its fantastic. For me it gives great photos in all conditions provided you follow some basic photographic principles. My wife used it the other day to photograph a friends house being built and she came back with some fantastic shots (my wife and cameras generally do not like each other). With a bit of practice and image manipulation after downloading (the software that comes with it has all those features) the photos turn out really well.
The bottom line is this: if you want a camera that takes sharp, crisp professional looking photos, then buy one that has everything and spend a lot of money. But, if you want to try out the world of digital photography, then this camera is an ideal beginners camera. Practice using the camera in all types of light, either invest in a imaging program like adobe photoshop or download some fantastic free imaging programs from the internet for free. If you do your homework, then there is no reason why this camera wont give you great looking photos, unless off course you dont have the patients to practice in which case youd be better off with a point and shoot instamatic camera.

Summary: Excellent for Starters
Review: I got this camera a while back . This is really a class on its on. Within this price & such good features , I think its very hard to get a good deal like this one. It has a lot of memory enough for a occasion & the resolution is also too good. I have never used a digital camera before & I surely liked the easiness of this camera as well as it is very light & handy. When I first showed the results of this camera my friends were surprised but i thought there is no need to as this comes from a very good company. infact even my previous camera was from Samsung . So go ahead everyone & try this if you have never tried a digital camera before & you wil be enjoy it.

Summary: WHATA DISAPPOINTMENT
Review: I know that you get what you pay for, but for 200 American I expected a camera that functioned. This thing is little more than...no, it's NO more than a toy.

The primary problem is with the "shutter release". It is completely unreliable. Often times I have to depress the button five or more times to get the camera to capture the image, taking several seconds. So it you are looking for a camera that will capture a moment--forget it. If you want a camera that will take portraits where people look natural, not frozen in a pose waiting for the camera to work--forget it. If you want a camera that isn't cheaply made--forget it.

Summary: You can do a lot better
Review: I've had one of these cameras for about a year. It does OK if your have PERFECT conditions - still not that good, though. Also have a Fuji finepix 2300. You can get it for another 20-30 dollars more. It is 2.1 MP and has a color LCD panel. The pictures it takes are great - no comparison to the Samsung. I just would not see paying that much for such a poor digicam

Summary: Best Buy
Review: It is my first digital camera purchase so I did not want to spend lot of money. And I found this Samsung Digimax 800K. It did not have lot of features like most of other expensive camera. But the quality of picture is as good as other expensive camera which matters most. Therefore I will recommend to first time buyer and someone who is trying to get into digital photographing. I can say that it is one of the best buy among digital camera.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: Received my 800K Digital Camera today and am so sorry that I didn't spend the money on a better model. I had the use of a Cannon Powershot and cannot believe they even classify this Sansung as a Digital Camera. Shop around people, you might spend more money but it will be worth it. I certainly agree with one of the other reviews, it a childs toy.

Summary: Samsung Digimax 800k problems
Review: Since buying this camera I have had nothing but problems, from the first time I tryed to down load photos to the computer, It often failed and took repeated attempts to get it to work. Now about 2 months later it has stopped down loading all together. I have not managed to solve this problem. Not a good investment

Summary: Excellent for school projects, party pictures
Review: The camera is easy to use if you know how to push to bottom and observe the "not ready green light". My secretary try to shoot pictures for me and end up no "Beep" sound.

Overall quality is pretty good in house, just make sure turn on the flash light and get close to the person within 2 yards. 4 to 6 seconds lapse between each shot. Outdoor picture is excellent if there is some sunshine.

This camera is not good to capture a moving target.

I imported corporate party pictures (1024 X 768 resolution) to a computer and created a Microsoft PowerPoint slide show for our team, it is very impressive!

2 AA batteries could last 40-50 shots, (about 20 of them with flash light) including 10 minutes image transfer to a PC.

8 meg smart media memory is enough for 60+ pictures. JPG files size are various from picture to picture. Generally speaking, a outdoor picture with trees needs more memory than a indoor picture.

There is no moving parts in the camera. It is good for young children to use the camera without breaking your heart.

At this price range ($150-180) and overall performance, I recommend this camera.
