Rating: Summary: Excellent photo but feature and software limitation urks me Review: First off, let me say that I am a brave for trying to pair a cannon A85 (has picbridge) with this printer. Yes, it works fine and the photo's look great. My biggest beef with it is that you should not count on the auto enhance feature to work easily with anything other than a kodak camera. This feature is nice since it corrects many underlight conditions or color issues. If you plug a non-kodak picbridge camera into it and try and use the auto enchance feature, it just will not let you. A work around (compact flash only) is to use an external lexar card reader and plug it into the kodak printer using print order from the camera to tag each photo that you want to print. If you do this, auto enhance will work. My theory is that Kodak is trying to sell more cameras or card readers (the kodak brand card reader appears to be lexar) by doing this. They also lock this feature out for any software other than their easyshare software which is silly. One other problem I have with it is that you must set your camera to a special 4x6 photo size before you take the picture to insure that the printer does not crop the image. They should have a scaling feature to make sure you do not lose any part of a regular full size image when printing. Many picture editing software packages let you do this such as Microsoft picture it (I use this to overcome this cropping problem). I do not like to take my pictures in a lower resolution just for printing 4x6's. I may want to make the same picture an 8x10 using my epson photo printer sometime later. The easyshare software it comes with needs a bit of work. It is useable, but it could you the auto scale feature to make sure that non of a full size picture is lost while printing (they have one, but it puts white bars on the side of your picture-- get out the sizzors!). It is kinda clutzy to use as well, but it is usable. If you have a kodak camera, I would highly recommend it. If not, you may end up a bit frustrated if you want to maximize the full capabilities of this printer.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful!! Just Love It!! Review: I bought the printer dock plus because Kodak no longer makes printer docks for the 4000 series. Customer support at Kodak recommended this printer dock as the next best thing. It has a built in SD card reader in the side of the printer dock. That works awesome. I am still able to print pictures from my computer plus with the SD card reader. I love it!! The pictures print out beautifully. I am quite amazed by it. I love the convenience of being able to print pictures from home then having to make a special trip to the store. I would recommend this product to anyone!! It's so easy to use. I also recommend using the Kodak color cartridge and photo paper kit, because once you run out of photo paper then you know your out of ink. The "Auto Enhance" feature will touch up your pictures to make them come out perfectly. Never had a paper jam once!!
Rating: Summary: Great Product! Review: I bought this item after a bought the camera while my olypus is in the shop. the 410 stylus failed after 2 months. But that is another story. The great part about this dock is that it make wonderful photos. Just like the photo lab. Yes the price per print is higher, but I am not the kind of person who prints alot. But once in awhile I am asked for a print. I have made 12 prints so far. The best part is I did a family photo for my Pastor's family who mom had just passed. Went home, retouched the photos, and print 8 glossy beatiful photos one for each family member. The dock works with any photo you have on file. The photos are stunning. The refill kit come with a idiot proof cartridge, and 40 blank 4 X 6 kodak papers. The photos lamiate at the last step of the process so you have a photos you can actually touch and hang in the light. After 10 years of inkjet photos I am very very pleased. The camera is fair quality but what do you want for a c-note? It come with rechargable batteries and as long as you put it on the cradle when you are done it's fine. Also this unit works without a computer! Also in the 4X6 space you can print 2, 4, or 9 photos. Off the camera only. A excellent product, considering about 5 years ago, when I bought my first digital, a similar product retailed over $500. Good Job amazon and kodak! (Don't forget to order a replactment pack of papers and cartridge, which come together for a very resonable price from amazon. Also you can buy a carrying bag, which is like having a portable photo lab.
Rating: Summary: Another exceptional product from Kodak Review: I bought this printer dock as a package with the CX7530 camera for my mother for Christmas right here from Amazon (they do have the best deals). The quality of the photos, printed from the dock are just stunning, just as if you had them developed at a camera store and better than those drug store photo labs. The finish is amazing. Like most older folks my mom loves taking pictures and having the printer dock allows her to print pictures in the comfort and safety of her own home. Kodak has a reputation for easy to use products and this is no exception. My mom is 75 and was intimidated by the whole digital transition. She had no problem adjusting and loves her camera and printer dock and is equally impressed with the photos. I'll be buying a printer dock for myself very soon. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed. Another quality product from Kodak.
Rating: Summary: Be careful with the paper Review: I got the printer dock as a christmas gift. At first it worked great, but then the paper got stuck and there's no way of getting it out. The pictures were okay. I recommend a photo lab!!
Rating: Summary: wonderful, rich colors Review: i got the printer with my kodak digital camera. the pictures come out as sharp as those from a good photo shop. no computer is needed, though if you hook it to one, you can e-mail photos right from the printer dock! just put the camera in the dock and hit the print button. this is a rock solid performer that has been used hundreds of times. the colors are rich and deep, and they don't run like ink-jet computer printers because they use a dye sublimation method. in sum, these prints feel and look like normal photos. watching the little machine work is a kick -- it passes the paper through three times and finally adds a clear coat layer to protect the print for years. the printer is a blast and a hit with my friends/family! excellent job by a great company!
Rating: Summary: Great Printer Review: I have read some people that say the cost of the prints is around 50 cents a print. This is correct, however the extra cost is the protective coating that is put on the print to make it last for a long long time. You get better paper and better prints from home. If you have one of those HP or Dell photo printers they will wash clean if you get them wet, these will not wash clean when they get wet. Some people have said that the prints get jammed in the printer. It may be because people tear off the tabs on each end. Those are required for the printer to print an image. I have nothing but good things to say about the kodak line of products. I had just purchased a new L753 and it is awesome with all the settings you should not have many pictures you have to delete.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable!! Review: I honestly do not know how I did without this before. Prints beautiful pictures from my camera and computer. I am going to buy a second one to send to my son in college.
Rating: Summary: Kodak EasyShare Printer Dock Review: I purchased the Easyshare printer dock and I have enjoyed it very much. It is fun, easy to use and the pictures are great. I highly recommend it for anyone !!!
Rating: Summary: How many software engineers does it take to print a picture? Review: None! It can't be done with this printer!!
I cannot begin to tell you how frustrated I have been with this purchase. This is BY FAR the worst purchase of my life.
I purchased this unit with high hopes based on great reviews and terrific print quality. Kodak had earned my trust with an earlier digital camera, so we purchased a DX6340 and printer dock 6000.
In short, the printer dock has NEVER worked correctly. NOT ONCE has the printer paper correctly fed through the unit automatically - I have had to CAREFULLY hand feed each individual sheet for every picture printed. When finally sucessful in getting the unit to accept a sheet of paper, the unit jams 50% of the time. Check Kodak's website - their 'solution' is to unplug the unit from the wall for 5 seconds, then plug it back in. Great, now it just spits the paper back out at me, ruining it and the print. People say the paper costs $0.50 per print, well, in practice it's costed me $1.00+ because the print only turns out half the time.
So, to sum it up, the 'convenience' of printing at home takes me 10-15 minutes of frustrating manual work and costs $1.00+ per print. Kodak has been absolutely no help whatsoever throughout this, and their software is simply aweful. Neither the hardware nor software are adept at error recovery, which you're frequently thrown into. And as a bonus feature, the kodak software autoupdater runs 'backweb' - can anyone tell me whether or not backweb really is spyware or not?
I'll not purchase another kodak product as long as I live - which this product has probably knocked 5 years off my life due to the frustration and aggrivation.
