Summary: Lens Cover Problem.....
Review: I agree with the reviewer "la_la_", the lens cover is a HUGE problem. I had only been using it for ONE day, and yes, the "remove lens cover" prompt kept on flashing even though the cover was off! So I had to hold open the cover....what a drag. I ended up returning it to Target. It did take good pictures, but it sounds like this lens cap thing is a common flaw. If only they could remedy that, I would say it's a decent camera for the money.

Summary: Not very good
Review: I bought this camera for my sister for her birthday and was very excited about it. Well in less than 10 days she returned it because it would not work. The second day it said low battery. She added new batteries and the camera still did not work. We took it back to Target and they tried to add new batteries and it still did not work. So as it stands she did not get to really use the camera. It worked for one day. What a disappointment. I guess you get what you pay for.

Summary: Works for me
Review: I got this camera on sale and I am very pleased with it's performance so far. The photos are as good or better than some I've seen from friends and relatives that have much more expensive cameras. The shots all come out very clear. The zoom is worthless however, but if I want a closer shot I can do that with the Photo Editor program on my computer. I like the LED screen, unusual for a camera in this price range, and they have removed the old lens cover and replaced it with a clear, permanent one, so that problem is solved. All in all, a great camera for the $$

Summary: Do you have to hold the lens cover open
Review: I have found much to my dismay that I must consistantly hold the lens cover open or the annoying prompt that I must open the lens cover comes on. Is this just how the camera is or am I missing something?

Other than that the quality is good and I love the camera

Summary: Better than the specs would indicate
Review: I have used several digital cameras and for the money this is so far my choice for a keeper. It is rated 1 megapixel but the pictures it produces seem far better than others of the same rating I have tried. Most people have not noticed the source was digital when printed at 4X6. It even has a usable flash, i.e., it doesn't completely wash out your subject. Comes with 8 meg internal memory but uses Smartmedia for more storage. Pictures transfer quickly using the USB cable.
Complaints? The 2X digital zoom is useless. Pictures become more prone to blur than the extra distance is worth. Batteries go kind of fast but this seems to be the norm for dig cameras and it uses AA instead of more expensive types.

Summary: Short-lived
Review: My children gave me this camera for mother's day last year. The lens cover took adjusting to - many photos had parts of my finger in it too. But the pictures were good quality and I learned to adapt. Disappointing was the fact that within 8 months, the camera was completely dead. No batteries could get it to turn on. This year I am telling them I need a new digital camera, but we won't get another Vivitar.

Summary: Pros and Cons of Vivicam 3555T
Review: Pros:
-only 2 AA batteries
-strong flash
-can be used as a PC camera
-inexpensive (under a C-note)
-has "extrapolated" 1200x1600 pixel selection which seems to smooth out the 1152x864 pixel default quality setting--does not perform as crisp as a true 2 Megapixel.
-easy to understand controls
-built-in lens cover

Cons:
-objects must be over 3 feet away to focus
-camera does not remember last-setting and returns to default settings during each powerup
-display is not crisp and very small

Summary: WHAT HAPPENED
Review: The camera worked fine within the first few weeks of my purchase. However i noticed that the battery life did not last as long as the package claimed even when the camera was not in extended use. After a few weeks I noticed difficutly in powering the camera on ( I had to press the power button several times). Eventually it just didnt turn on at all but functioned fine when I connected it to the PC using the USB cable. The only problem with this is that you can't take pictures while the camera is connected to your PC. Great so I can use the upload feature but I can't take pictures so whats the use. Do yourself a favor and shell out the extra 40 or 50 collars and buy a better camera.
