Rating: Summary: Exceeded expectations although don't expect perfect pictures Review: I loved this camera for the first 4 months, but then it suddenly quit working. Now, whenever I turn it on it beeps and flashes the error message E:92:00. I don't know what this means, but there are lots of others complaining about this same problem on other web sites. We called Sony and they said it would cost $$$ to get it fixed -- plus the cost of mailing it. We've hardly used this camera. For a camera that only costs $$$, this sure seems excessive. I think the camera has a flaw due to the number of people experiencing this problem. Therefore, I cannot recommend this camera. If you do buy it, I would buying an extended warranty. I didn't purchase the extended warranty b/c the Best Buy salesman said they rarely see problems with digital cameras. He insisted I buy the extended warranty for the Sony camcorder that I was buying at the same time. Once again, I chose door #1 when I should have chosen door #2.

Rating: Summary: Why all the Hype? Review: I owned this camera for less than 5 hours. I bought it...and decided it was one of the worst purchases that I've ever made and returned it the same night!...I agree with many of the problems with this camera and here is a quick summary:Pros: 1) Its small (but so are most of other brands) 2) It takes good pictures in WELL LIGHTED areas. 3) The software is flawless, loading pictures are extremely fast and easy. Cons: 1) The lens is Extremely awkward! Who was the genius that decided to position a JUMBO sized lens off to the side!? Hello! Where am I supposed to position my FINGERS! 2) The battry consumption is insane! I went through my Energizer Max after only 8 pics! I guess I should go buy the more expensive lithium batteries, or better yet some stocks in battery companies. 3) I much prefer the sliding lens cover that comes on the olympus D510. The dangling Sony cover is extremely annoying. 4) The constant need to use the flash. Without it, you will not be able to take good pics in less lighted areas. Oh yeah, when you do use the flash, have fun waiting for the slooooow charge as the Sony is DRAINING your batteries. I am a huge Sony fan and I've bought numerous Sony products over the years. I even have a Sony MasterCard. But this product is a major disappointment to me. For the price and the way the electronics world works you're much better off shop around and if you insist on Sony Brand, just wait for a later update (which will inevitably be better and cheaper). Good luck with your search.
Rating: Summary: very nice camera with only one problem. Review: i really like this camera. i purchased it a few days ago and i've had no problems with it at all. it takes very nice photos. the only flaw it the battery life. this camera eats regular double a batteries, and practically requires the purchase of a lithium ion rechargable battery. .... also, the memory they give isn't sufficient for taking many large pictures. you can only fit about four on the memory card. but, if you're just taking smaller pictures for the web the 4mb memory card is just enough space to keep you from having to upload and delete images constantly. i found that i can fit twenty two of the smaller images on the 4mb memory card, which is quite a few pictures. so, overall, this camera is definitely worth the money you pay for it.
Rating: Summary: Good Quality, Good Features... Review: I really like this camera. It's my first digital camera and I'm not at all into photography as a hobby, so I can't speak to the complaints people listed about it being 41 mm, etc. But if you're not looking for a professional's camera, this works great. DEFINITELY buy the battery pack... it's somewhat pricey but well worth it... using batteries is just a waste and you'd spend the amount of the lithium pack in batteries relatively quickly. You'll also need to buy a new memory stick, the 4 MB it comes with doesn't do much for you. I use my camera mainly for e-mail pics and web posting and have found this was a good purchase, I'm very happy with it.
Rating: Summary: Sony DSC-P50 is a good camera Review: I recently got this camera. Here are the things I noticed 1) You must have the Rechargeable Nimh 1600 amph batteries atleast 4 at hand.(better you order the sony starter or stamina kit, comes with charger, battery and cover) 2) Duracell AA(reg) batteries lasted for 4 pictures with flash and about 7 min of playing with the menu. 3) I feel the quality of the image is good. I also feel the image is slightly darker on the right or as a whole when you take in the night time probably because the flash isn't powerful enough. To get a better picture in the night you must be within 5ft max. 4) The pictures taken at the daytime are amazing the best of the cameras so far. 5) Mpeg has no audio but can record upto your memory stick capacity.(previous models have audio but they allow you to record upto 15sec(dsc-s50)) 6)I agree with one of the prev reviews saying the viewfinder only shows approx 70% of the actual picture taken Overall I would give 8/10 and I would recommend this to others. thanks, Jag
Rating: Summary: Novice User Review: I recently purchased a Sony DSC-P50 to replace a broken point and shoot 35mm. I needed a camera that I could use for work and one that my wife could use easily and more important download with ease. After reading previous reviews I purchased the Sony with the battery kit and 64mb memory stick. I was downloading pictures on the net inside of 30 minutes and had it pretty much operational in a day or so. I am not a camera or photography buff so I wasnt looking at those kind of issues. I wanted a 2.0+ megapixel camera that was easy to use and easy to download. So far I am very happy with this purcahse as it satified all my needs. My only thought would be-make the carry bag a little bigger.
Rating: Summary: Review of Sony DSC-P50 Review: If you buy this camera, make sure you purchase the "optional" rechargeable lithium battery and power pack. This camera eats batteries. A set of 2 double-A batteries will last about 4 to 5 pictures if you use the flash. If you use the flash and the LCD screen, you might only get 2 to 3 minutes of camera life, enough for just a couple pictures. It's very easy to accidentally set the camera to take pictures at slower shutter speeds. The results are very blurry pictures. So the camera is not exactly fool-proof, and with such short battery life with the LCD screen on, you have to flip through the options very quickly to retain your battery life (which leads to mistakes in setting the exposure time, etc.) I hope these problems I'm having with battery life will be relieved once I purchase the optional battery pack. As it is, the camera is almost un-usable with normal batteries.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Price/Value ratio Review: It is the best deal for digital cameras of 2.1 Mpixel, that can be found on the market and the most complete camera of its type. I fully recommend it, as well as to buy the rechargeable batteries and AC Adapter.
