Rating: Summary: Get what you pay for. Review: I had been looking for a digital camera for some time, and when I saw this camera/dock I thought the price was right. Even though the reviews were mixed, they were positive enough that I bought it. After turning on the camera, which took almost 30 seconds, I shot a few pics and quickly downloaded them into my computer. The dock was very easy to use, although I did have to install the software three times before XP accepted it (XP users must download new software from Kodak's website). The pics looked a little dark for day shots but still they were okay. That night I took some shots inside and I knew I was unhappy with the purchase. The pics came out extremely dark (even ones from close range). I tried again and got the same results. I don't know if I had a "bad" flash on the camera or if that is just the way it was, but I wasn't at all satisfied. I returned the camera and decided to spend a few more dollars on a better quality camera.
Rating: Summary: I Like Review: I just received my DX3215 Zoom Digital Camera (With Dock) for Christmas. After some frustrating moments when the battery pack appeared unwilling to accept a charge, I read the directions and learned that it needed to be charged several times the first time around. Even then, the instructions are not quite clear. I first read them to suggest that I needed to leave it on the charger for the entire 2.5 hours despite the light having turned green after only a half hour or so. This proved not to be the case. It appears that it needs to be actively charging (with the light red) for 2.5 hours. Lifting the camera up from the dock and resetting it everytime the charge light went green, I was able to get it to charge just fine, although I gave it far more than 2.5 hours. After its initial charging, subsequent charging times are normal, and the camera can be used once the light turns green. If it requires an initial 2.5 hour charge, then the light should not turn green prior to that time. If, for some reason, this is impossible, then the instructions could be made to be a little clearer. That is my only complaint. I'm dropping my rating by one point for this reason alone. Other than that, the camera works great. It takes good pictures, and passes them on to my computer painlessly. If you are willing to be patient with the initial charging time, I don't think you'll be dissatisfied with the results. Except for that one initial quirk, it's a good product.
Rating: Summary: Kodak Review: I just recieved the camera on the third of January. I must say it is very easy to use. For a person just starting out in digital camera, this is a perfect camera. I also did some price comparison and this is a good deal. I would have paid around 300.00 at Best Buy.
Rating: Summary: Good beginner package, but... Review: I like the convenience of this camera - it came with two sets of batteries - rechargable and standard lithium. It connects to the USB port and downloads pictures fast. The downsides: the power button is small and often doesn't turn on/off unless you hold it down. The dock does not charge very well at least for me so sometimes the battery doesn't get charged all the way. If you buy this, I'd recommend getting a case to go with it.
Rating: Summary: A great starter Digital camera. Review: I purchased the Kodak DX3215 Digital Camera with the USB dock and I have been very impressed with it so far. This is a starter camera and doesn't have a lot of frills. The construction of the camera, the buttons, etc. tells you that this is a relatively cheap camera but there are no functional issues with it. This is a great camera that's capable of 1.3 megapixel and has a 2X digital zoom lens. The camera comes with 8MB of internal RAM which will store about 20 pictures at 1024x768. There is an expansion slot of additional memory and I picked up the SanDisk 32 MB card for that slot which stores about 100 pictures at 1024x768. In a nutshell, this is a really good starter Digital camera without a lot of frills. Great for someone who wants a good Digital camera but doesn't want to pay $500 for it. If you want a really good Digital camera, my choice would be the Canon Powershot G2 Digital Camera. Very nice..
Rating: Summary: Bad customer care Review: I purchased this camera and the battery pack wouldn't charge at all. Tech support told me to return the camera. Three weeks after contacting customer service through emails in an attempt to have the battery pack replaced, I was told to call customer service. I bought this camera for the dock that recharges the batteries. Now I have no battery pack and a dock I don't really need. It's no more convenient to use the dock than it is to hook the wire to the camera and only the battery pack is recharged by the dock. Regular rechargeables still need a separate charger. If you want this camera, skip the dock and just buy rechargeables and a charger. That's what I ended up doing anyway.
Rating: Summary: A beginner's delight! Review: I purchased this camera as a gift for my daughter, her first digital camera. It's been wonderful for that purpose! It was easy to set up, simple to use, and produces very nice photos. She particularly likes the power options, which give her plenty of choices. Transfer of the photos has been simple, too...and I am delighted because she e-mails me photos of her life in a distant city. I can 'meet' her friends, see the first snowfall, enjoy the antics of her pet. It was a good choice for a recreational camera.
Rating: Summary: A very good camera to start Review: I read all kinds of reviews of this product. Mainly they stressed the ease of use. And they are right. It is easy to use if you have the docking station. The software that comes with the camera plus the pushbutton transfer on the dock and even a new user of digital photography like me finds it easy to make this transition from regular film to digital. I do notice that the subject matter of photos must be within 10-15 ft to be very good. Further, and there's loss of detail.
Rating: Summary: Easy camera for a Grandmom Review: I really am enjoying this camera. I specifically wanted one that made connecting to the computer easy and also wanted software that I could easily manage. The camera has provided me with good results for both of these concerns. Also, the dock keeps the batteries recharged and the included AC adaptor saves batteries. I was pleased and surprised to get a lithium battery with the kit in addition to the rechargable one. I can use this in the camera when away from the dock. Initally I found turning the camera on and off a bit difficult because of the small size of the button. Then a grandson showed me that I should just hold the fleshy part of my finger on the button and doing so eliminated the problem. I like the ability given by the software to correct and enhance photos. I had three indoor shots taken by my lighted Christmas tree which were dark. The brightness enhancement feature restored them. I plan to use it primarily for emailing pictures to friends and relatives. I had another digital camera last year which "ate" batteries at an alarming rate and which had terribly complicated software. Not so with this little gem.
Rating: Summary: Waste of Time and Money Review: I received this as a Christmas gift at my request... after receiving it I tried to charge the battery to find that it wouldn't take a charge for more than 20-30 minutes at a time. Although the insturctions suggest leaving it on the dock for 2.5 hours. Also leaving it there when not in use... The power button is so small that it is difficult to turn on and off. I was able to use it successfully for one day, returned it to the dock for 28 hours and was not able to use it the following day. Very disappointed. I had received the package that included the printer which arrived with no instructions. I also received updated software for the first 3 days of ownership... making me wonder what could possibly have become out dated in such a short amount of time. Needless to say, I've sent it back for a full refund.
