Summary: A TREMENDOUS camera for the price...
Review: I just got the Polaroid PDC 640. I think it is a GREAT camera. I took pictures in all types of lighting conditions, even in pitch black, and the pictures came out GREAT! So, in my opinion, another well done job by Polaroid!

Summary: Love it in California
Review: I just love this camera. I find it easy to use and even my daughter can get great pictures. I have an adapter so downloading the picures to my PC is as easy as inserting a floppy. I have had loads of fun playing with the program that was included. Changing the images and repairing red eye is so easy. I would and did recommend this camera.

Summary: Surprising quality for the price!
Review: I just purchased this camera for my daughter. I wanted something inexpensive but with a lot of features and decent quality pictures. This camera has surprised me by being better than any of us expected. I own a 3.3 megapixel Canon that I payed a substantial amount of money for. This polaroid has ALL the features the canon has except zoom. Features it has like lcd VIEWFINDER/display, video out, macro, 4 photo quality selections, tripod mount etc. are usually not available anywhere near this price range. Another nice feature is everything you need is supplied. I had to pay quite a bit for an ac adapter for the canon. As everyone knows, an ac adapter is a NECESSITY with a digital camera since they all consume batteries FAST!

What has amazed me most about this camera is the quality of the pictures. I had serious reservations about a camera with only 640 X 480 resolution, but in the highest mode the pictures are a lot nearer my 3.3 megapixel pictures than I expected them to be. In fact, the color is great and the resolution is very good, without the grainy look I expected. Without tweaking them in the computer, we even printed my daughter's pictures out in 4X6 on photo paper and they are great! We put them in the photo album.

The only drawback I have found is the battery life. My daughter took 11 pictures then the batteries died. This may be because she used the lcd display with every shot, but why have it if you don't use it? There is a battery monitor that tells you the charge left, which is a nice feature.

My only suggestions about possible add ons to this camera are a card reader, which made transfers easy and avoided using the slow serial cable, and also RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES WITH A CHARGER. You can get them so cheaply now there's really no reason to hesitate.

All in all, this is a super camera! In fact, I'm going to get one for myself to use as an extra camera. At this price, why not?

Summary: Good camera when it works
Review: I originally got this camera 2 years ago as a gift. In the first year of owning it I had sent it to be repaired twice because the LCD screen burnt out and a third time because the whole camera stopped working. The Third time they sent me a whole new camera. The bonus to sending the camera back so many times is that I now have 4 cards for it now. The first camera I had was pretty good on batteries the new one however I can't say the same for. Also I agree with other reviews, that the flash takes too long to heat up. The picutres come out pretty good up to 4 X 6 any larger and the pictures become hazzy. At first I thought my printer needed to be updated, then I took my child to see Santa and ordered the floppy disk, printed them out and the quality was outstanding. Now I realize their cameras are much more expensive and more advanced, but none the less, made me want better quality.
The camera is easy to use when it works, I found the photo max program to be very useful, and the camera was a great starter camera you really don't need to read the manual for it, its light weight, I can't say I really regret buying this camera, it got me started for a decent price, but for me its time to move up a step or two.

Summary: My experiences.
Review: I owned this camera for two years. So here is my review..

-Image Quality. Good for this price range. In a dark room at the zoo, I was able to take satisfactory pics with no flash. I also took pictures of a glowstick in a dark car, with no flash, & they came out a hundred times better than expected. It takes it's best pictures outside, even when it's cloudy.
In darker rooms the image quality isn't always what you hope for. I take ALOT of pictures indoors and as long as I use the right flash they come out nice. I suggest a little trial & error first, so you don't miss really important shots.

-The size. I'm able to drop it in most of my smaller purses without any trouble. Weight isn't too bad either. Although heavier than the newer cameras.

-Durable. I'll be honest, I'm clumsy. I've dropped it many times. Not to mention the time my sunscreen exploded in my purse, ON my camera. I slammed it in a safety bar at an amusement park too. It still worked fine. Amazingly enough.

-Battery Life. Like most cams this eats regular batteries like CRAZY. I suggest the millennium batteries + charger from amazon. It's definitely paid for itself. I'd suggest an extra set of batteries too. Keep one set on the charger, especially on trips.

-Image Capacity. I mostly use the 340res. You can't beat 330 pics on the card that comes with this! It's more pictures than I could ever offer to take, even on a trip. The most I've had on it at one time is around 100.

-No Zoom. For the price, I wouldn't expect zoom, but I didn't have zoom on my 35mm so it's not that big of a deal. It would be nice, but hey..

-Downloading Images. Downloading 100pics took me about ten minutes on rather slow computer. I would much rather have a USB connection instead of a serial port. That's for sure.

Summary: **Great Camera**Great Price**Great Output**
Review: I purchase the Polaroid PDC640 about 6 months ago. It replaced my former Kodak DC200.I wasnt wanting to spend more then 200.00 on the camera itself because I also wanted to order a smartcard reader and an extra smartcard....I chose this camera because I knew it came with an AC adapter,LCD,smartcard,TV cable,PC Cable, and a camera case.Upon getting the camera I was very happy.I must say I was very impressed with the qaulity for the price.I often print photos of my son that I take with the camera and they turn out pretty great! The camera is light and durable. It does about average on batteries. ( All digital cameras have a tendancy to eat batteries if they have a LDC).It also features a timer so that if you want to take a family picture you can run and get in it too. I would reccomend this camera to someone that doesnt want to spend alot on a digital camera but still wants the luxury of having a nice looking camera that takes great shots.

However just a word of advice, when buying ANY digital camera be sure to pick up a smart card or flash card reader, transfering pictures via the PC cable and using software takes forever. With the readers its just like sticking in a floppy disk and they only cost about $25....

Summary: Great Digital Camera
Review: I purchased this camera from Amazon at a great price...! It was well worth the money. So easy to upload pictures from the floppy in just seconds. You can use USB to upload as well, but why bother. Comes with adapter, flash, and viewfinder. Also has the capability to delete pictures right then and there, or after you take all. Beautiful pictures in any light. Love it.

Summary: Only one question??
Review: I really do love this camera, I just wonder, does it date the photos? If not what is the purpose in setting the date? My Mom purchased this camera for me, she owns it also, and neither of us know how to get each photo dated. If anyone knows please share it with us. Thank you.

Summary: poor download instructions- Photomax PDC 640 Plus
Review: I recently purchased a Poloroid PhotoMax PDC 640 Plus digital camera. I was impressed with the features and the pictures looked great on the LCD display. I connected the camera to my PC and the ac adapter, turned on the camera as instructed and nothing happened. An error message came up and said camera wasn't connected so I checked the connections and they were fine so I tried it again, no luck. I then turned off the PC, rechecked all the connections and went back step by step AGAIN and I cannot get the pictures transferred from my camera to PC. I re-read the help in the software and troubleshooting in the users guide and I am back to the beginning. NO HELP from the website from Poloroid, where did they go? Pretty frustrated in Poloroid products and this was a waste of money if it won't transfer pictures to PC. Is a reader required or what's up with this?
