Rating: Summary: Happy with my Polaroid PDC 640 Plus but a few complaints Review: (...)It's very easy to use and to download. The quality of the pictures is very good, and when I use the right photo paper(important) and program my PC for that paper , of course, the prints look really nice, some even excellent. However, I also think the batteries last very little. I am now using rechargeable batteries and a battery charger that charges in an hour. A more serious problem is that lately the camera-to-PC cable has developed a problem. Whereas at first I just let my pictures download while I was doing something else, now I have to sit and hold the cable where it is plugged into the camera in a certain way and wait during the whole downloading process to finish. First I have to wiggle the cable inside the camera until it beeps and starts downloading. And I better not move my hand at all or it disconnects. I don't know if the bad contact is in the camera or the cable. I have not yet decided whether to buy another cable because it might be the camera itself. But anyway I like the handy and light little camera and am agreeably surprise it makes pretty good quality pictures.
Rating: Summary: Piece of garbage. Review: Also known as the Agfa e-photo, this camera lasted me 18 months, and that includes the 4 weeks it spent being returned to the manufacturer. The thing EATS batteries, the flash takes FOREVER to recharge, the battery door compartment is a joke. It mercifully died completely recently. You get what you pay for. Avoid this pile of dung if at all possible.
Rating: Summary: LIKE IT A LOT !!!!!!! Review: As the previous reviewer I can say I am totally satisfied for the price with this digital camera. To the contrary as mentioned by another reviewer (who precisely mentioned he was no-techie - OBVIOUSLY!!!), serial is easy to use to transfer your photos but if you don't like it, just buy a little adapter that connects to your USB port and this adapter will read your Smartmedia card in a flash!
Rating: Summary: Many problems multiple replacement cameras issued Review: At first this camera was great and worked well. but after 2 months of average use, the flash was malfunctioning, I called and received a replacement. then on the replacement the batery door would not stay closed and the camera would keep shutting off.I got that one replaced too. then on the next one they sent me the lcd screen stopped working, It just went black, i got it replaced with another. now my lcd screen is broken again it is all fuzzy and has static so bad you can not see the photos. i am very dissatisfied with this product and suggest you NOT buy this product. Customer service with polaroid is excelent and fast, but this product is just not up to par.
Rating: Summary: This camera is great for the price. Review: For the price, this camera is inexpensive and easy to use. The tech support at Polaroid is helpful if you have any problems and the website is useful as well. I use this camera for auctions and taking pictures of family members. It eats batteries quickly, and the flash takes a long time to get ready. The picture quality however, is very good. It doesn't look cheap or feel cheap, which is important for making a purchase like this. The good news too is that the price will be going down as with all new technology. You can't go wrong with this camera.
Rating: Summary: Great Beginner/Intermediate Camers Review: High quality, reasonably priced camera. Could wish for brighter display outside. Easy to use. Recommend to also get the FlashPath adapter for computer (makes it easier and faster). Good buy for the money.
Rating: Summary: A Great Little Camera! Review: I actually got two of these (one was a gift) so I returned the other. I read the reviews below and started using this camera with some doubt based on a few of the reviews. I needn't have doubted. This is a great little camera.First, to address some of the negative reviews. The camera is not a battery hog. It does, however, give that illusion since the battery metter reads empty well before the batteries are actually drained. If you use the batteries with the built in tester the batteries still register a near full charge even though the meter reades low. Just keep using the camera until it doesn't flash and only then change the batteries. Picture quality is very good. When printing, as with any photo, be sure to use photographic paper and use the settings the paper recommends. If you don't use a good paper and the correct settings (the printer won't set itself) the picture will look grainy. But that goes for any photo from any camera. Also, take the pictures with the highest resolution setting, not the default setting. The pluses for this camera when compared to others in this class are the macro settings, the large number of photos that will fit on the SmartMedia, the four mode flash, the four resolution settings, the optical and LCD view finders, the second LCD screen for settings, the video cord for displaying your pictures on a TV and the included photo software. I think some of the negative reviews come from people that expect this camera to compare to a [$] camera. Well, it's not a [$] camera but, compared to cameras in this price range, it's a champ.
Rating: Summary: Good Entry Level Digital Review: I am a long time analog (Flim) photographer. I think the PDC640 is an excellent "first time" digital camera. One feature that is very much welcomed is its capacity. It holds a lot of pictures. They are very easy to download and it has proven to be very durable. I take a lot of nature shots, so I have it with me on the trails. The only thing I could ask for is higher resolution, but everyone I have shared the images with is very pleased with the results. It is not a waste of time or money folks.
Rating: Summary: Do Not Buy This Review: I am so glad that I brought this camera back. It was nothing but trouble. I could not even get it to load the software in order to see the pictures I had taken. I called Polaroid, no help. I emailed, no help. They even suggested that I buy a different camera. That was the only good advice that I got from them. I am still looking for another, but be sure it WILL NOT be a Polaroid. I will never buy another Polaroid anything. I helped several family members and friends avoid problems with them too. Stay away if you don't want problems.
Rating: Summary: Good Product for the price Review: I bought this camera about 3 years ago and have used it with no problems. It does eat the batteries up when you load in a larger smart card (something I suggest you buy). For it to be less than 1mb it still prints pretty good quality shots even on regular paper. The only drawback I've found is the software. It constantly comes up while downloading pics and says that it has an error. If you hit retry it works again until the next pic. Other than that inconvenience it is well worth the price. Granted it is not a high end camera and does not claim to be it is still well worth the money.
