Summary: Great and easy camera
Review: I have had this camera for about 18 months. It has done a fabulous job and has been a good starter camera. The quality of photos when printed is astonishing. Full page prints are clear...makes me wonder how a 2.1+ megapixel camera could do much better.

Indoor photo's have a reddish tint due ot lighting if you don't use the preset tungsten adjustment. However, if I forget to switch over to this adjustment, digital photos are easy to correct/edit with a photo editor.

I have taken hundres of pictures and am totally satisfied with this product.

TIP: With digital cameras (probably all cameras) it is extreemly important to hold the camera perfectly still. This becomes more importatn the further away your subject is.

Great camera...buy it!

Summary: Very pleased!
Review: I just received my DC240 this week from Amazon.com and love it! I own another digital cam that was one of the first ones out that does not have a zoom or a flash. What a long way digital cams have come!

I have used the DC240 quite a bit already and am VERY impressed with the picture quality and the print quality. I bought it hoping that I could finally do away with my film camera for snapshots but was rather skeptical. I figured if it wasn't up to par, I would just return it. It exceeds my expectations already!

I have also printed a number of the photos on glossy photo paper with an HP DJ 722C. The average person would not be able to tell that it wasn't a film camera print. I printed most of them at 5x7 but printed a few at 8x10. 1.3 megapixel cameras are not supposed to be photo quality at 8x10 but my prints at that size look great.

I have yet to find anything I don't like about the camera. It fits well in your hand, has a fast zoom compared to my Pentax WR90, and is so convenient.

I would highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a good quality picture at a price that is very affordable. I would also highly recommend Amazon.com for that purchase. Their price was the best anywhere on the net and more than $100 cheaper than the local electronics chain.

Summary: If you're an indoor picture taker...ACE
Review: I know I'm not the first to say this, but I'm a first time digi picture taker. I found the exposures on the inside pictures ace - great colour and depth. However. Once you get to landscapes, the camera fails big time, it doesn't give that much depth and all the colours are bleached out. Even after playing with them in PhotoShop, you can't get good results. Also - As said before, DON'T BY THIS CAMERA FOR THE SOFTWARE, the USB interface driver is ace (1 picture per second vs. 3 per minute) - but as for the rest, don't expect to use it - you'll need to get PhotoShop for picture doctoring, the Adobe "Picture Creator-Master" non-sense crap you get wit it will only work for about 2 pictures before it GPFs. In all, I love the camera - but then like the CNET review said - as long as you want a camera to take pictures in a bar when you're drunk - then it's the best... (it beats 35mm non-SLR and it's quicker to slap on the net........) - Rob

Summary: Great images and excellent, easy to use, features!
Review: I looked around for quite awhile before purchasing this camera. I have had the camera for about 2 months and have taken hundreds of pictures. I have been very pleased with the results. Photography is a hobby of mine and, as a result, I am picky about picture quality and accurate color reproduction. This camera is easy to use, fast to recycle between pictures, and the USB connection is fast and reliable. I like the optical zoom (I have not tried the digital zoom). The lens appears to be of good quality. I have not detected any distortion. Similar to other LCD screens, the screen on this camera can be difficult to see outdoors. You can adjust the brightness, but this reduces your battery life. I have experienced better than expected battery life. With frequent use, I have replaced the batteries on a monthly basis. Overall, I recommend this camera to anyone who wants good quality images that are manageable (compared to multi-megapixel images), easy to use feature set and a reasonable price.

Summary: An Excellent Camera for Online Auctions
Review: I needed to buy a digital camera to help me sell merchandise on eBay and other online auctions. My camera store recommended the DC-240. My one big mistake was purchasing it from them instead of from Amazon.Com.

The photographs taken by the DC-240 are excellent, and certainly have all the resolution and sharpness I require. In fact, I have to use a photo editor to tone them down and resize them so they don't take forever to load on the auction page.

My only complaint is that uploading the photographs from the camera to my Windows ME system is very much a trial-and-error process. So it might be a good idea to get a separate bypass unit that goes straight from the flash memory to the computer.

Summary: Good Camera
Review: I purchased a DC240 online on 8-31-99. I am a semi professional photographer and wanted to try digital. The resolution sounded alright and the features seemed about the best that I could get without spending a huge amount of money. I have been having some health problems and didn't get to use the camer very much. In fact, there is a counter built into the camera. I had only taken 241 pictures total in 15 months. I attempted to use it the other day and the lens motor started making a noise and would not focus. I called Kodak and they were not very helpful at all. They said they had two repair costs, $110 for minor repairs and $275 for major repairs. The told me to send the camera in to Rochester, NY ($24 with insurance)They insinuated that the camera must have been dropped. This is totally untrue. As I said before, I am a real photographer. I feel that they should have said that they would fix the camera under warranty due to the short time ago that it expired and how little use the camera had. The camera sat for a year and wasn't used at all. Now, I not only question the quality of the camera but also the customer service that Kodak offers. This may not sound like a big deal to you but I ask you how you would have wanted to be treated if you had spent $550 on a camera and then they wanted to charge you some huge amount to fix it.

Summary: Kodak 240
Review: I really like mine. It takes good pictures. It was easy to get started with it. Do not try to buy a small camera bag for it because the lens cover will come off easily and you may accidentally turn it on when putting it into its bag. I highly recommend the USB disk reader, makes things a lot easier. With that reader you may not need the battary charger unless you want a slide show on your TV. Note that the Kodak 280 is offered here... [it] is probably more value. But, you will have to buy accessories so [it] will become a bit more after its all done. I can't say too much about how the pics print because I have been using it exclusively for Internet images. I am having fun with mine.
