Summary: Dead company, good product
Review: I bought this product for my kids. I also bought a SanDisk 16 MB MM card. Together, they provide the ability to capture 69 640x480 images. The quality is exactly what I expected, and provides good value for the money. One concern that any prospective buyer should have is support. KBGear appears to be defunct. The website provides excellent support (I was able to use it to locate and download the patches and drivers necessary to use the app under Win2K). The question is, how long will the site remain up? Do not expect that any rebates will be honored, or that you will have any updates other than those already on the site. Other than that, give this to your kids, let them take thousands of pictures, and print the low percentage that turn out right.
P.S. taping a small rectangle of milk carton plastic over the flash really helps the color balance. Use double stick tape, and your kids won't notice. I also use a couple of pieces of electrical tape to cover the MMC in the slot, as there is no door to assist in retention.

Summary: A total waste @ HALF the price!
Review: I picked up a JamCam as an "expendable" digi-cam for emailing snaps from the road. If it got lost or trashed, it would be no great loss. Even with such low expectations, I am angry & disappointed. The quality is like a freeze-frame of a VHS video. The software & Windows TWAIN driver are buggy & tempermental, and the MMC memory card LOSES ALL STORED IMAGES AS SOON AS THE CAMERA POWERS DOWN! I lost over 60 images when I returned from my trip & powered up the JamCam to find only the first 8 shots stored in it's internal memory were still available! The software then proceeded to download all the photos from the camera WITH THE SAME FILENAME so that each new image OVERWROTE the one just downloaded! The company's website is like one of those long-abandoned ghost websites. The only contact link left is for the webmaster. I've used cheap digitals from Polaroid & been quite happy with the results for the price. I picked up a JamCam for the 16Mb MMC memory option, never dreaming that it wasn't non-volatile memory. If you see this camera, don't buy one. In fact you'd be doing the seller a favor to warn them what a piece of junk this product is, so that they won't be surprised by irate customers.
This is the worst implementation of a good idea that I have ever seen! There may be a cheap digicam with expandable memory that's worth owning, but this ISN'T it. Don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid this at all costs!

Summary: You get what you pay for!
Review: Very good cheep camera. It does every thing a camera priced this low should. I haven't had a problem except, I live in Minnesota and it is very cold up here right now and it won't take pictures outside in the cold. The camera lockes up. But once you get it inside and the camera warms up again it works perfect. So don't expect to take too many pictures of snowmen.

Summary: Purchased for a Gift
Review: I bought this camera for my nephew's daughter - age 6. I think it will be just perfect for her. I had to try it out before shipping it on. I was pleased by how quickly the camera reset and I was able to take the next picture. With the flash on the pictures came out a little bright but not bad. It uses a 9 volt battery. The shutter works with a light touch. The pictures were clear - almost as good as my original Sony Macvica that I paid over $500 a few years ago. For the price it's a great starter digital camera. The software that came with it is decent and you can control the camera setting from the PC. Using the USB connection the pictures laoded very quickly.

Summary: Great for the price
Review: This little camera is great for the price. Flash works good. It does not suck batteries like others. I am in construction management and I use it every day and it gets beat up. I recomend it highly if you are not trying to get high quality prints. Works great for documentation, quick prints, or just fun.

Summary: Jamcam 3 digital camera
Review: it has poor resolution, no battery, no memory and is basically a toy for kids. KBGear attracts buyers with a phony $30 rebate and then goes to great efforts to cheat people out of it. First they send a postcard saying "this item is not valid for rebate" then they have one phone # refer you to second and then a third which never answers. Emails to KBGear also go unanswered. I have spoken to numerous people who all had the same experience. Avoid this dishonest company.

Summary: Good camera if used for what its ment for
Review: This is my first (and currently my only) digital camera. I find that the camera is an adequate snapshot camera; I wouldn't use it if I were trying to receive an award in a photo show. But, as a quick, easy to use snapshot camera, it works great. My scanner is a superb tool for scanning photos and beats this camera hands down. However with the scanner, I have to wait for a lab to develop the film before I can put the picture on the computer. With this camera, I can get it instantly and free (though the transfer rate from camera to computer is slow and occasionally gives error messages, so you must have a little patience when uploading the images. For those of us who have websites and low budgets, this little camera is really great. It does have problems in some lighting conditions, and if you are to close to something when the flash goes off, it will often over expose the image. When first learning to use the camera, try 2 shots of your subject, one with flash and one without, and don't trust the auto-flash to always pick the right setting, set the flash on or off manually. It also has no preview LCD to view the pictures. You also cannot delete images form its memory one at time, you must delete them all at once
Also, if you find that the image comes out a bit to pixilated or grainy, try using software to adjust the brightness and contrast, as this will often work wonders for the picture, or at least make it acceptable. Speaking of software, try to get a hold of other photo editing software besides what comes with the camera, as all its really good for is getting the images from the camera into the computer.

So in conclusion: If you want to buy a really cheap digital camera and use it only as a snapshot camera, you can get by. Though if you want a little more flexibility, I would recommend looking at other cameras, there are some good deals to be had in the 100-200$ range, and I will probably replace this camera with one of those myself eventually.
Good Luck

Summary: Very poor quality images
Review: I was prepared for a low-cost camera to give lower quality images than my old Fuji MX-700 but the quality of this camera was so bad that I took it back and bought a more expensive but decent quality camera.

Anything dark on the JamCam's images seemed to turn into a grey hatched mush. The hatch also appeared, but to a lesser extent, over the highlights. I tried both 640x480 and 320x240 res. Neither was satisfactory. I can email a sample on request.

The included Adobe software was also very limited. You can't even scale the picture to reduce a 640x480 to 320x240! What picture enhancement is available seems pointless given the source quality.

Save your money and buy something better. (...)

Summary: Poor product; rebate's even worse
Review: It's basically a webcam that can be carried around.
I was conned into buying it because it was free after rebate.
Now the camera is collecting dust, and still no rebate check in sight. Phone number on rebate form no longer works, and customers are referred to the manufacturer instead.

I've filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission in regards to their rebate handling practices. Stay away from this joint!

Summary: Jam Cam
Review: A good starter camera. I bought mine as a gift for a child who likes to take pictures. Figured it would save the parents some film and development costs. It takes nice pictures in good light within it's stated range of 3 to 8 feet. And when they say a max of 8 feet, they mean it! Pictures taken at any greater distance are utterly useless. But you can't beat the price and it is extremely simple to use and download to your PC with the included USB cable.
