Rating: Summary: Okay for limited duty. Review: I've owned mine for over a year & have been impressed with it in several ways. First is the new, lowered price; real digital cameras at such a nice price are quite a development! The applications this camera seems best suited to are: e-mailing photos, webpage posting or limited photo printing (4" x 6" max), as in school papers or nonprofessional grade work reports. The resolution is up to these tasks, but not much more. It has no zoom lens, which limits its usefulness. It does have a good indoor flash, and it has an expandable memory (MultiMediaCards, generally harder to find & a bit higher cost than other memory formats). The camera will download into the PC via USB (forget about painfully slow serial port options), but the only way to fly is to use a separate MMC card reader (a little more $, but no battery use and much better speed). All in all, this is a great camera for younger students and beginners whose main interest is computer-based digital photography.
Rating: Summary: How to use this camera with Windows 2000 (Maybe XP too?) Review: The only major problem with this product is that the company has gone out of buisiness and no longer offers tech support. I have however figured out how to make the upgrade on the website work with Windows 2000 (which might work with XP as well since it's based on the same architecture)There is a driver update at (...). Download it. The problem is it won't install itself properly. Instead, go into Device Manager, and click add new hardware (Make sure your camera is plugged in and turned on first) It should detect the camera, and detect there is a problem with it. Choose JamCam from the selector. It will tell you something like "there is a problem with the driver". It will then prompt you to insert the CD on which an updated driver can be found. Choose the drive you downloaded the new driver to from the selector at the bottom of the box, and click search (or OK?). If it works anything like mine, it should find and install the new driver. I was overjoyed that I got this to work, since it's a great little camera to take quick snapshots with - especially concidering the price! Hope this helps someone! GENERAL WARNING: 640x480 is a great quality for sending email snapshots with, but it is extremely low quality for anyting else. Beware that you will never be able to blow these pictures up much larger than a 4x6! If you want a cheap camera to take family photos with, stick with film. You will have way more flexibility down the road if you have a physical negative. If you want to make a 8x10 print of that last picture you took of grandma with your jamCam, the quality will NOT be there.

Rating: Summary: Just not worth the trouble Review: This is a word of advice to any would-be buyers of the jamcam 3.0: "Don't!". The product is a toy at best. But the real problem (yes, there is one worse) is the business practices of this company. Non-existent customer support (emails bounce), invalid toll-free numbers, and unclaimable rebate offers. There is defintiely something fishy going on. I would go as far as to say beware of KBgear in general. I learned at a price. I rate this product a one-star only b/c a zero rating is not possible.
Rating: Summary: Toy digital camera Review: A flimsy camera with very poor resolution. Photos break up at the slightest enlargement. I was promised a $... rebate, filed for it, once in May and once in November, and never received any response from the manufacturer. Save your money, avoid aggravation, don't buy this toy.
Rating: Summary: No jamming here! Review: If you have the new Microsoft XP operating system, forget about it. This camera is not compatible; it only works with Windows 95 or 98. Also, there is no preview window for pictures taken, and no LCD viewer. So, make certain you have a money-back guarantee from your retailer.
Rating: Summary: Should have just burned my money. Would get more enjoyment. Review: First off I don't know why the camera says it take 800 x 600 pixels? The Highest res. I can get is 640 x 480 pixels???? Second when I center someone or something and take a picture, they are not centered in the pic. I have to move the camera so the person or object of interest is in the right corner of the the camera just to get them centered in the pic! The software was, well ok I guess. Overall this camera should be recalled! ... In case you do buy it, for the best image quality you need to set the timer and put it down. Make sure you have good lighting, the images always seemed to bright or way to dark. Outside pics seamed to work best. ... Oh ya the only reason I gave the camera a STAR is because it made me!!!!!
Rating: Summary: AWFUL PRODUCT/SERVICE Review: Awful product/customer service e-mail unanswered(actually undeliverable)/telephone disconnected/does not work with Windows/ME
Rating: Summary: JamCam OK Review: For the price ... it is worth the money. The pictures are fairly good and the software has worked well for me.It is a good way to try your hand at digital.Unfortunately I have not received my rebate and can't reach the company by phone. Otherwise I would highly recommend as a starter digital camera.
Rating: Summary: JamCam 3.0 looks good; works badly Review: ... I hope XP Pro works a lot differently from XP home. I purchased a JamCam 3.0 for my 9-year old and tried moving pictures to a Dell 8200 machine. So far, no luck: XP Home complains about non-compliant software and drivers, KB Gear tech support offers updated drivers and updates to the JamCam software (both, incidentally, are needed to make XP happy.) Well, I followed all the instructions and advice - hours of work checking cable connections, USB ports, telling XP where to find the new updated JamCam drivers (c:\windows\system\system32\drivers) - to no avail! I am now convinced that the JamCam software is not XP ready. I'll try it on a laptop with 98 and see how it goes. Bad, bad, bad. It's really too bad because the JamCam is a nice piece of hardware for kids.
